Morning all!

Just getting ready to go to Ohio, then Florida.

Besides that, nothing real new.

Sue: Is it raining down there? It is here... Just like October. Well at least it's better than 80-90 degrees out...

Jim: I bet I wouldn't... Right now I'm happy. It's cool, and rainy.

Well I better get going...

I don't know about feeling well enough. I felt somewhat good this morning and decided to go to work. Now I wish I hadn't. I hurt all over, especially my knees, hips and back.

***Jeff, hope you are feeling much better today. Wife and I both had CTs last year (for different reasons) and although an interesting experience, I kept thinking "What is this thing doing to me on a cellular level?" Still, it's pretty amazing what you can see with them and definitely a short cut over most other methods for diagnosing.

I think what they will find is a minor hernia, just bad enough to make itself noticed. I hope they DON'T find anything more serious than that.

Afternoon All,

It's not that I dislike N it's just with my mechanics hands and blurry vision I often feel as though I need a scanning electron microscope and bionic hands to do any work. We'll see how the rolling stock repairs go when I get to that. Building woodlands is easy though. Just use all the scrub brush left over from the Horribly Oversized display.  J.R.

Wow, I did not realize that those kits have been around for that long. My Swift kit is still half built too, at the time I was just getting started and it was way over my head. Maybe I'll finally get around to finishing it someday!

Hey J.R., I was just kidding! I prefer HO myself, that iNpossible stuff is hard on my unaided eyes. Let me know when you are finished with that scope!

Time for dinner!

I'll have Stir Fried Shrimp and Scallops with Cashews please.

Good evening .......we had a great time up in New Hampshire's White Mountains, railfanning with Mass Bay RR group. I chased the 0-6-0 steamer from North Conway all the way through Crawford Notch and took both videos and photo shots. They used their new U23B trailing the 0-6-0 by 2 miles in case it was needed, and they used the U23B hooked to the rear on the way back down the grade to make use of it's Dynamic brakes. I will post pics as soon as I get caught up around here.

On the drive through Crawford Notch to the Cog RR Sunday, at 7 in the morning, 2 deer tried to cross the road in front of us, then I mile further, a cow Moose was feeding right along the roadside 3 feet from the car. 5 miles later, a bull Moose was on the other side of the road feeding, he looked up at us and just kept eating.

We went up the Cog Railroad to the top of Mt Washington, 6288 feet. It took 1:20 hrs. to climb, took on water at the halfway point, and it was chilly and in the fog at the top when we arrived. When we left 20 minutes later, it had started to downpour with driving winds and ice pellets hitting us. Did you ever see 72 passengers trying to board a single entrance RR car in these conditions? My pants were soaked, but after the 1:20hr. ride back down, I had dryed sufficiently, but the Lorraine had to go change her cloths.

We then had a great tour through the Cog RR maintenance area. We got to see the project they were working on with a nice explanation by their chief ME. John Deere has donated a 600HP Diesel engine, and they are building a diesel cog engine, disc brakes, hydraulics, etc., all part of going "green" on the mountain. I have pics of this also.

The drive back home on Sunday afternoon was the worst that I ever experienced, Summer or Winter, in the past 23 years travelling to/from the White Mountains. Things went Ok until we got 15 miles north of Concord, NH, then the traffic stopped and it was stop n Go for the next 25 miles. We hit four (4) thunderstorms on the way home from Concord south to home. Downpours so hard the wipers could not keep up, winds , lightening everywhere, ice pellets at times. It was interstate travel at it's worse!!! The trip normally takes me 3 hours door to door, Sunday it took us 5 1/2 hours. I just kept my hazard flashers ON during each storm we hit.

I read that Fergie hurt himself with a nail gun??? What is all that about?

RT: I wrote to Bergie before I left last Friday, but never received an answer. I was having a lot of trouble that week with ootgoing mail server via my ISP, so maybe Bergie never got the info. In anycase, in scanning the past emails here in the CS, I read something about this Zeke thing being a big scam??? What is all that about???

FERGIE: So Lisa wants some Tropics action? Tell her to wait until September, we are still locked in a Spring weather pattern.

RYAN: I was not in Maine for a convention, that was Colby I think. Read my info above, I was in NH.

MIKE: When I got outside Monday after getting back home, the garden was like a tropical jungle. The zucchini squash plants are waist high and we have squash coming out our ears. Cabbage, Lettuce, Beans, Cukes, Beets, Spinach, Summer Squash, Cauliflower, Peppers are in abundance.......I think someone dumped CS on my garden while I was gone , LOL

LUC: Sure is good to see Gloria smiling and looking healthy again.

Evening Gang: Today I did lamost nothing. I just felt worn out. I really felt guilty. I did help the boys with the pump house a bit. O f course I took them and Mary Ann out for lunch. What else are dads for? Tomorrow John and I are driving to Oaklahoma City to pick up rail for his railroad out at his ranch. It's a long drive but saves over $200 shipping. That's 175 feet of rail.

Dick: Fergie didn't do the nail gun thing I did about 5 years ago. Fergie cut himself real bad with a stone chip. Sailors are dangerous on shore.

It's kind of early for this but I think I'm going to hit the sack. John is coming by early and we will head out.

 Good evening.

Any blueberry pie available? Whipped cream, too?

Ryan... I meant to say earlier I appreciated your comments to me regarding Chinese stuff, my new observation, and Wes. I really like the roundhouse.  I've some of those sudam kits in my supply for yet-to-be-built layout sections.  So thanks for inspiration.

RT .... glad the move to TN is progressing. I think you said you were headed for eastern TN.  Nice area.

Dick... really interesting write-up about your New Hampshire trip.

Hoople.... where in ohio and in florida are you visiting? Relatives there?

Paul.... don't over tire yourself. Take it easy with all that outside work.

Gus (ICRR Gus) was over this afternoon. He's completing a grain elevator for his layout.

We're leaving for Ohio and Michigan Saturday.  Time the Mi trip for NMRA convention, but won't do much of that because of NMRA's excessive prices.

Duke.. you still there? Still thinking of train show there? Anybody else?

Happy Model Railroading

***Dick, that sounds like quite a memorable trip. Sure would enjoy seeing photos of that old steamer in action when you have time to post them. And speaking of moose, having one on my future layout is a must. One of the coolest critters I have encountered doing field work. Good evening, Chloe - how about a nice root beer float, please? It's been warm hot Evil [}:)] here today, and I'm ready for one.Yeah!! [yeah]

Oh, if there's any of that shrimp and cashews left that Ryan fixed for dinner, I wouldn't mind a taste of those. Dinner [dinner] Yum! - good job, Ryan!

RT, welcome back! So, what part of Tennessee will you be looking at moving to? Will that be close to family (kids, grandkids, etc.)?

JR and Ryan, can I borrow that scope after you two finish up with using it? I have that same vision problem, even just with Horribly Oversized scale stuff. Wink [;)]

Jeff, hope you get feeling better soon, preferably by tomorrow at the latest (so you can put back some LHS-shopping money from this round of w**k).

Dick - that sounds like a New England Roundup Cowboy [C):-)]you were on, with all that wildlife you saw. Hate to think what it'd be like if somebody hit a moose with their car. Smile [:)] It's bad enough around here when somebody has a deer that walks right in front of their car (usually totals it, and sometimes causes serious damage to the car's occupants, too)!

It was indeed hot and sticky today, and I didn't get out much. only had two clients show up, of the six or seven I was scheduled to see. Good day for writing out assessments, though. One of those I saw really needed referral to another place than ours (and told him so). On an excellent note - I did get news that I'll be getting a raise (not sure how soon it kicks in).

Wish they'd give raises to everyone there, since most everyone is working their (hind end) off, and has been for a while. Maybe if some of the admin. people would take a one percent pay cut, they could do that? Evil [}:)] Ah, well...

'nuther day and it'll (almost) be Friday (and Saturday will be payday). Smile [:)] Yay!

Well, guess I'd better quit rambling and finish this float before the ice cream melts too much. Prayers for those in need, and those in need of rain (or a drying out spell).

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good morning, Diners! Zoe, just a go cup of TH coffee, please. Thanks!

400 miles? Yeah, Jeff, that long of a trip would wear me out, too.

Rest up. Thumbs Up [tup]Zzz [zzz]

RT, that should be beautiful country there. I went to Gatlinsburg and Chattanooga (long while back, though). Will add your job search to my prayers. When do you begin packing...? (oh, packing is such fun... not!)

Hoople, enjoy the DisneyWorld trip - should be fun!

Dave, good to hear from you again, and best wishes with your sideline job.

Well, I'll just grab one of Bill T.'s twisty donuts to take with me - got to get going!

Morning all!

Looks like everyone has been busy around here.  Dick, I can't wait to see those pics!  I sure do miss New England!

Kinda looks like some New England weather around here today though......periods of rain all day long.

Well, I started hanging my backdrop last night.  I hung about 30' of it, so I only have another 40'-50' to go.  It's starting to look like a RR in there!  Even my son is finally getting excited.  He saw it last night and after a couple of minutes of looking around he asked, "Which locomotive is mine Dad?"  I told him, "Any one you want."  You know what?  He tried a couple out and picked one he liked.  The boy has good taste.  He picked a Kato Mikado!

Well, gotts run for now.  I'll stop in later.

Bye!

Ryan:

I use Dreamweaver for most of my developement with Photoshop as the graphics horsepower.   I keep DW setup to work via LAN to a local webserve so I can do realtime debugging with the PHP/CGI/.NET apps.  I am stronger with .net than I am .php, but I am starting to learn .php a bit more nowadays.  Slowly but surely I am clawing my out of the shadow of Mordor, er Microsoft. ;)

Good morning everyone.

RT...I recall we thought that would be a nice area.  long, long, long ago I lived in Oak Ridge TN. Best wishes on job search. There is plenty of tourist activity in the local economy. How about being a country and western singer in Pigeon Forge? I like the song entitled 'City of New Orleans".  You most likely won't do impersonation of Dolly Parton, but how about Elvis?

Good to hear from Dave L.  Sounds like some hogh tech stuff. Nice offer about assisting others. Much appreciated.

Still scheduled to depart for Ohio and Michigan Saturday.

Happy Model Railroading
