Good Morning, Zoe. Cup of coffee for me, please. Looks like PC's still covering it, huh? Thanks, PC!Smile [:)]

Some rain this morning a little north of Cape (and across the river in Illinois). Time to head back to the 'grind' this morning - Dick and Paul and our other 'retarded' persons want their checks to keep coming. Wink [;)] Hmm, how long until I get to join the ROF crew?

Where's Ryan been lately? I realized after I'd posted last night that hadn't heard from him in a bit. On vacation?

Hopefully, the air conditioner repair guy will be able to get the A/C going today (and not have to order some parts or such).

Guess tonight we'll be voting on whether or not to take the offer from the church (and thus, have to move, once the basement area next door is open).

Keep 'em up and running today, folks. I'll check back tonight before MRR club meeting.

Blessings,

Mornin' All!

Yes, thats right, I am a bit later then usual!  That's because I took this week off from work!  I SLEPT IN!!!!!!  Yup, I'm going crazy!  I took 3 days earlier this year, and now I'm taking a whole week!  My boss is freaking out because the last vacation time I took before all this was in 2004!  He's gotten used to me being there.  Oh well!  I'm planning on doing a whole lot of NOTHING!!

Well the rain finally let up just about the time we got my son to MDA camp yesterday, so that's good.  Nothing worse then going to camp just to watch it rain from your cabin.

Weather looks good for right now, but who knows, this is Indiana after all!

Catch up with you all later.  I've got a ton of NOTHING to do!

Oh, and Hoople.......keep the card.  It's been declined and I called them and had the bill forwarded to you anyways! Wink [;)]  Have fun with that!

Inch, a laser sight huh?  Well how about that?  What'll they think of next!?!

Zoe, what's going on - nobody's been in since 9:35 this morning? Confused [%-)] Must be more than just PC sleeping in today Zzz [zzz] - and good for you PC - let the boss know how important you are at work! Thumbs Up [tup]

Maybe everyone went by the Trackside P.D. to find out what the fuss was all about? Dunno...

Work's been pretty good so far - getting a lot of the paperwCensored [censored]k caught up. We have some rain currently in Cape G. - was fairly strong when I left for lunch, but tapered back by the time I got home for lunch. Now, if the clouds can hold the heat down some this afternoon, that'd be great!

No sign of the A/C repair guy at home so far, unless he went to get some parts. Sure hope he gets here and gets it running again today.

Well, I'll just have the fajitas and a Pepper today for me, Zoe.

Yum! Dinner [dinner] I'll be chowing down here in the corner on these. Oops - well, how about a fajita special, since I appear to be paying for lunch? Now I know where everyone was - they were waiting for me to hit TOP... Wink [;)]

Good afternoon. Been a busy day at the shop today. I put wheel sets on four desks this morning, prepared another twenty-two for delivery and helped load them, stained the parts for a special order, hand sanded partsfor another ten desks and helped assemble eight others. Boy, are my dogs yelping!

I just found out that my mother has been transferred to a private hospital in DeRidder. I will be going there with my father shortly.

Evening, ladies - I see you haven't changed shifts just yet. I'll have the beef Stroganoff and a Dr. Pepper, please (since I'm still buying).Wink [;)]

Hey, Ryan, happy catching up! Did you get by any LHS's while you were at the conference? Yeah!! [yeah] If you'd got back earlier, maybe you could've helped Jerry with his computer problem (but the Kalmbach ladies apparently covered that pretty well, from his description). Wink [;)]

Duke, excellent pics - of course, with that last picture or two, Fergie now has a new engine he'll be looking for. (tee hee...) I don't think I've seen all of those when I was at the Transportation Museum, and I grew up in St. Louis.

Jeff, sounds like a very busy day for you today. Will your mother be able to get better care at the new hospital (hopefully)?

Garry, from the radar weather map, looks like you may be getting some storms through your way (possibly heading for PC and our Indiana crew).

No sign that the A/C guy has been by (at least, it's not working yet) except for the A/C filter was removed and is standing leaned on the top of the unit. Oh yeah, and my sign for the landlord isn't there. So another evening with the fans. Sad [:(]

Looks like you came through fairly late in the day, Bill (T.). Good that you made it in!

Fairly busy day at work today - my co-worker David was out. He'd almost forgotten his anniversary,Oops [oops] and took the day off to celebrate it with his wife (and their young'un - less than a year old, but not by much).

Almost time for me to head out for MRR club now (and vote about taking the offer from the church - and moving - or not). May be able to check back in after the meeting.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

She should get the care she needs there. She's been having terrible problems with depression. This center she's been transferred to is for treatment of depression cases like hers. Personally, I think they're gonna have their hands full with her.

Evening Gang: We got about 1/4in of rain this afternoon. I'd ship some of this to those in need if I could.

Jeff: I hope that the folks at the new hospital can help you mom. Tell her that we are all pulling for her. Tell your dad also. I've been in his shoes and I know that he's worried and scared.

I talked to Ed for a bit this morning. I wanted to visit longer but we in a What-a-Burger just about to have breakfast. He and family are north of Houston at his daughter's place. They will head for Newfoundland Wednesday and be there for a month. I told him to wave as they fly over. He can recognize the place by the PINK cows. ( Thanks Fergie. Mary Ann is waiting to meet you.)

Not much else to report. Mary Ann started to mow the front yard again. She got about half done when the rain hit with a vengence. She made it into the shed before she got too wet. I was off at the tractor house getting some parts ordered for the mower. They have a late model Kabota diesel mower about the size of the one we have for $1495. It is a great deal so I'll try and talk her into getting it. The one we have now is getting long in the tooth.

Well I think that I'll head for bed.

Good evening.

Yes, we actually have had some rain. The real stuff. Wet.

Jeff, we'll continue our concern for "Mom". We should offer some flowers (A hint for the computer wizards out there. Post some flowers for Jeff's Mom. ) Seriously, Jeff ,we're quite concerned and praying.

Philip had the day off. Philip, if your "inspired", you can't sleep in. There are model trains to build!

Jim........  Thanks for looking out for the diners and addressing their concerns. Glad you're bringing coffee from Luc.  If you get a chance tell him we'd like to hear from him. What's new with Gloria.

Jim...... I'll tell you of a frequent boyhood adventure. My friends and I would board a Burlington double decker suburban train for Chicago Union Station. Near there we caught the "El" and road it to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs. (Did similar for White Sox too.) Games were affordable back then. Good thing. Wins were not at all guaranteed.

Fergie..... still at sea? Model power shovel assembled yet? ....and, importantly, why is IHC completely sold out of 2-10-2's according to their web site? Are you cornering the market?

Der. ...  what's up?

Dick..... Any strawberry rubbarb pie available?   ....actually, key lime is good pie, but I bet you planted no key limes.

Duke..........  I saw some of the same locomotives at St. Louis about 4 - 5 years ago.  Looks like they repainted the Aero Train with a broom! ...but the Silver Charger is a classic! ... The N&W 2-8-8-2 must be a new addition.  I hope Ryan noticed it. Also, it looks like the 2-8-8-2 is in a spot where they had a ATSF 2-10-4.  (Fergie, did you take the 2-10-4 ?) Duke, I'm glad you shared th photos with us.

Cox47 ......... I've had positive experiences with Kalmbach also. Good people.

Happy Model Railroading

Well, call me an "insomniac" if you must, but I just can't sleep right this summer. Think I need a new mattress...

Today was a good day. I found out that we will be waterproofing the basement (where my layout is located) within the next month in preperation for a new Diamond 8' Pool Table with $200 felt and a tight-rack. That means no more carrying my 3 DCC locomotives, 2 EOT equipped freight cars, and Digitrax Zephyr control system up and down at the beginning and end of each operating session. (I carry one at a time, rest assurred!)

Also, we got rain today (well, technically yesterday), and a LOT of it. I mean, downtown Hopkinsville was a giant puddle. Not quite a flood, but awful close. Looks like me and Garry up there won't have to worry about drought for a few days.

Jeff: You are in my thoughts and prayers. Heck, you're in everyone's thoughts and prayers. My best wishes go out to you and yours. Angel [angel]

Good evening guys, A donut of Bills and a chocolate shake, thanks.

I've got some photographs for you to enjoy from my recent modelling and my most recent railfan trip, I'll post a couple here, and the rest in a new thread on the main page. Smile [:)]

This is a view of the mountain i carved from foam and an overview of the main line/passing siding and goods siding. I've laid all the track there now.

This is a birds eye view of one of the Tillig points i'm using, I'm going to mount caboose industries ground throws painted white (for more realism) to operate them.

And here is a view of four HJS open wagons, used for carrying scrap metal/cinders/anything. These are still in service at 40+ years old.

And Two 2300 class diesel locomotives haul a 45 car coal train down the Toowoomba Range, west of Brisbane. It is headed for the Port of Brisbane for export.

Good Morning, Zoe - cup of coffee and one of Bill T.'s donuts, please. Smile [:)]

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner, Brandon - sounds good on the basement waterproofing (and that's god for your layout. Tell us about your layout, please (what scale, modeling the CSX? - I would assume so Wink [;)] - modeling a specific era or time period, etc.?).

Garry, nice story - I once visited a friend in the Chicago area, and (if my memory's still working...) recall riding the El to get around a little there. That was my first exposure to an elevated line. I'd heard and seen pictures of the subways in NY, but hadn't seen much of any of elevated rail lines.

Heard from the landlord, and the bookcase I have partially blocks the A/C, so tonight after work, I get to remove the books and stuff from that one of the three sections of the bookcase so that tomorrow the A/C repair guy can fix my A/C - another warm night in the meantime. The bookcase is one of the older 'pole-and-shelf' bookcases that can be arranged different ways. There's a dresser unit in another of the 3 sections and a desk unit in the 2nd other one, too (besides the shelves). So I know what I'll be doing tonight...

OzJim, good to see your progress on the layout. Thumbs Up [tup] Those Tillig turnouts look like they're constructed kind of like the Peco ones. Nice pic of the locos - those look like rather massive beasts. (Hmmm, better be careful or Fergie might take a liking to some of those, too!  Laugh [(-D])

Oh, and I didn't want to forget, guys (and gals) - a little something from Luc:

Last email I heard from Luc, Gloria's still having a struggle with some health problems, so keep them both in your prayers. Angel [angel]Angel [angel]Angel [angel]

I'd better get myself going and get to the office on time. See you all later!

Blessings and prayers,

Good morning everyone, 83F already at 8am and headed for 90's with rising DP's and Rh. Summer is HERE in New England!! Getting all caught up outside with yard work since being up in Colby country last week.

I don't know the first thing about Ipods, but I was about to last night. My 13 year old Grandson Scott just bought one and his older brother, unbenounced to Scott, entered a lock code and didn't tell him ( of course he denied it, but no one else knows how to do it except maybe "Idano"). So Scott was over here at Grandpa's last night for help. After a call to Apple FS, I was able to do a restore download, which took care of the problem, it erases everything on the IPOD. Luckily, he didn't have much on it yet. So today he wants to download songs. I have not ever done that either, so more "fun" is in store. Scott cannot do that at home, there're PC's are still down since the lightening near hit two weeks ago....no internet service.

JEFF: I hope the new hospital can help your mother....your job will be to get her attitude more positive. I don't have to tell you what depression does to one's immune system. Try reminding her of all the funny things that you did as a kid ( maybe still doing ?? LOL )

GARRY: Yup, plenty of Strawberry Rhubarb pie, but the sad thing is, not many people seem to like the rhubarb....I guess it is too tart for many people.....not you though, and certainly not Duke, he could take on the whole pie!!!

DUKE: Great photos, I was just reading a RR book that had those very same locos illustrated. Have you heard from Bill North at all? We haven't heard from him in a 'coon's age.

PAUL: From the looks of the Weather Channel radar, the rains just keep coming on you guys......is your ranch on higher ground?? I sure hope so. Have the RR's had any washouts at all?

Time to get outside to work, have to take it slow today, temps in mid 90's and high humidity. See you guys at lunch.

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Well! Let's try this again! Darn puter link cuts out after 10 minutes of inactivity resulting in my previous response being wiped!!

We're about 200nm East of Sable Island this morning and the weather is still holding out and with only 8 days left in the trip.

Fergie..... still at sea? Model power shovel assembled yet? ....and, importantly, why is IHC completely sold out of 2-10-2's according to their web site? Are you cornering the market?

The steam shovel IS assembled I just have to add rigging and weather it. as to the 2-10-2 issue. No I'm not hording as 5 of the beasts is all I can handle... this month. I think I'm saturated on the 2-10-2's though I do like even numbers Big Smile [:D]

Fergie, did you take the 2-10-4 ? Duke, I'm glad you shared th photos with us.

No! No way to sneak it by the Mrs. without getting the Dreaded Death Stare in the back of the head. Der and Luc declined in offering any assistance as they value their lives.

dick and others: here is the link regarding the East Coast Of Canada Quake of 29'. Makes for interesting reading.

Well Gents time to go

Gloria is sort of OK.  She had a surgeon appointment on Friday, she needs a knee replacement and he is recommending to another surgeon to a different hospital because a cardiac team will need to be present when this is done.   She has been getting more heart attacks, most the silent type, but she doesn't always want to go to the hospital.  I'm so worried that one day I'll find her dead.  My stress level is out of this world.  I've not had much interest in anything hence have not been at the Diner.   Thank you so much for your concerns, we greatly appreciate your kind words.   Gloria and Luc

Good afternoon everyone.....the heat is on, but the humidity is high......the dew point is 65F with a temp of 86F and rising steadily. I just came in from installing a 3 foot wire mesh screen all along the bottom of the blueberry posts. The deer netting is getting holes in it from some critters. at about 6" to 1 foot off the ground, about the size of field mice or chipmonks. Lets see them tear through 18 guage 1/4" galvanized fencing!!! I am soaked with sweat, I needed a complete change of cloths and a cold one to boot. Gatoraide of course.

LUC: We continue to pray for Gloria and for you too buddy...take care of yourself, these things can take you down too and that won't help Gloria or your family either. It is certainly not easy Luc, but with all of our prayers, Jesus is with you and Gloria.

Later guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good afternoon......... looks like rain clouds are to be crossing the lakes soon. ...Hopefully, it will continue and Smokey the BEar will adjust his forest fire sign to less than maximum risk.

Looks like plenty is happening in the diner.  not all good news.  For sure.

Luc........ it's very good to hear from you and thanks much for the T. H. coffee. Your friends are quite worried about Gloria.  Give her our best wishes. Take care of yourslf, too. We're praying.

Jeff........... You and Mom, too.  Best wihses to your Mom, your Dad, you, and your sisters. We're praying.

Brandon.......  Glad you can keep the basement dry.  You ever get out here to Lake Barkley?

Oz  Jim..........  really like the coal train photos.  Thanks.

Dick..........  keep on posting!  Eventually, I'll learn to spell "rhubarb" or whatever it is.  Apples, anybody?

Fergie.........  neat to learn about your working on the steam shovel. Thanks for being good natured about all the kidding about 2-10-2's, etc.

Happy Model Railraoding.
