Wish me luck, guys!
Starting tomorrow I'm going to try (again) to overcome my addiction to diet soda. I drink 3-5 Diet Cokes/Pepsis a day, and I'm sure the aspartame is doing bad things to me.
Funny thing is, when I drank regular Coke, I never drank that many a day.
So, thank God I like coffee... I can still get my caffine!

Our young Train Master has been chasing after a local skirt lately and things came to a head yesterday. I warned him that he was playing with fire in the dynamite shack, but he wouldn't listen. She pretty much told him to drop dead then sicced her boyfriend on him. This resulted in David getting a fat lip and the boyfriend getting a broken nose, so the kid gave as good as he got. Now maybe the next time I tell he's playing with fire, he might listen, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I didn't listen to adults either when I was that age.

Ooooo, thats a tough one! More power to ya man!
Good Morning Zoe, just a cup of coffee to go for me.
Dave, good luck with quitting/cutting the Diet Cokes. As you said, there are other ways to get the caffeine. Of course, you could start working on the caffeine next (depending on how close to retiredment you are... ).
Got to go - one good great thing is: it's payday! [happydance] (Hmm, that smiley didnt' show up...).
See everyone later - hope you have some decent weather. We're supposed to have hot and humid, but with winds (high of 94 F predicted).
Blessings,

ME TOO!!!!!
And here....I'll help you with the dance!
Mornin,, coffee please Zoe,, going to be an ok day here, other than hot [low 90's] and having wind gust to 45 [wind advisory issued].
I dis-like this new computer, it's a pain for me to use. Course when ya aint good at it anyway, changing's hard I figure.
On D DAY,, our local news didn't have much to say bout it, but a PBS station we get, aired a 2 hour show called, D Day Memories, with some that had taken part. In-between segments, they had some interviews with some locals that were part of that day

I pick up some ground foam, under table switch, and a Erie Lackawanna box car for $4, out of the used box. Since ya didn't make it for burgers, we're cookin beans Sat. at the campground.
DAVE, congrads on the exams getting done. Sounds like the next part is going to take even more work and research though. Also hope you do a better job for the AF, than our local weather guessers round here.
RT,,, the shelf looks good with the trains on it.
JIM CG,,, hope ya'll get things worked out with the church an landlord. It'd be a shame to have to start over after all the work so far.
GARRY, sorry to hear bout your cat passing. We had to put our old tom cat down a year or so ago, from old age too [vet figured he was 18 or 19]. Then 3 months later we lost our dog to cancer.
A funny pet story; when kids were little they brought home the ugliest black n white she kitten ya ever saw. I didn't want it, but Mother said ok. That cat took a real liking to me and slept with me n Mother all the time. When she had her first litter, she had them on our bed, while we were sleeping in it. Woke up that morning to Twinkle looking at me from between my legs with new 4 kittens nursing.
Best gets back to chores, still have some of the mess from the trees to clean up. I've had kids the last 3 days, so I'm behind. Hope ya'll has a good day n stay safe

everyone! Those Packham pears I dropped off the other day should be ripe and juicy now, so I’ll have one of those with a chunk of old cheese, please Zoe; and a kippered herring with some of that dark Seville orange marmalade on the side. Thanks. Oh, and a medium JR Regular, if you would be so kind. The torrential rain last night cleared the fog, so today is just grey.
The Chamber meeting was success for the museum as they agreed to pay for two sets of highway signs for the main highway through the Harbour. Then the owner of a local restaurant said he would pay for signs for the other two roads into town!
May I add to the Happy Dance and ask
DaveV: Wishing you luck on the Diet Coke thing. As an alternative to coffee, there are excellent no-sugar-added dark chocolates available. Health benefits of chocolate keep being discovered.
I’d better get on…TTFN.

Morning everyone. Haven't been in for a while. Haven't even been able to do much reading. My old supervisor retired and theres a new sheriff in town. She's really cracking the whip so I can't read as much at work. It's break time now and my work is caught up so she can't complain.
Garry, sorry to hear about the cat. My mother has a big yellow cat she named Punkin. He has always liked being around people but lately he has to be on your lap all the time. He's diabetic and gets two insulin shots a day. I wonder if he might be getting sicker and not feeling well. I cat sit when my mother travels and I would even miss him if he wasn't around. He is about 12 years old.
Has anyone seen the story about NS wanting to build a high speed freight corridor between New Orleans and New Jersey? It would parallel I-81 right through this part of PA with new yards in central MD and eastern TN. They claim it even has the support of a large part of the trucking industry. Pat (the lady in my life) and I went to the East Broad Top last Saturday. It was the first time in a few years I actually road the train. I usually go there armed with a camera, tape measure, pen and note pad. She seemed to enjoy it and of course I did, even though I got a little lost on the way there.
Break is about over, better go.
"As I came in one evening, Within a small café, A forty year old waitress To me these words did say. I see that you are a logger, And not just a common bum. For nobody but a logger Stirs coffee with his thumb. My lover was a logger. There’s none like him today – If you poured whiskey on it, He would eat a bale of hay. He never shaved his whiskers From off his horny hide. He just drove them in with a hammer, And bit them off inside. My lover came to see me, It was on a freezing day. He held me in a fond embrace, Which broke three vertebrae. He kissed me when we parted, So hard that it broke my jaw. I could not speak to tell him He’d forgot his mackinaw. I saw my logger lover Go sauntering through the snow, Going gaily homeward, At forty-eight below. The weather, it tried to freeze him. It tried its level best. At one hundred degrees below zero, He buttoned up his vest. Well, it froze clear down to China And it froze to the stars above. At one thousand degrees below zero, It froze my logger love. They tried in vain to thaw him, But would you believe it – Sirs? They made him into axe-blades To chop the Douglas Firs! And so I lost my lover, And to this café I come. And here I’ll wait till someone Stirs his coffee with his thumb." Author – Unknown

Well I got the creek crossing cleaned out again. I didn't do anything to the far side since it was usable and I didn't want to make it muddy. I do need to trim the brush on both sides. Right now I'm taking a break before I go over to the track. Even with a tractor with a loader it was hard w**k.
I guess little Dave maybe learned a lesson. Hard way of doing it but it may stick.
Well I guess I'll head out. I'll see you later.

Good evening everyone, I see that Jeff cooked that steak that was on on Dave's lip for a while this morning. Was pretty cold this morning, got down to 45F before sun-up. Today it was cut the grass everywhere, all the rains from the TS's has the grass knee high to an elephant again. The RHUBARB is now ready for picking, so Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is on the menus, topped with French Vanilla ice cream.
COLBY: That is FANTASTIC news......I don't know if you have been to North Conway lately, but the train tracks have all been redone from Redstone to North Conway all along the new North-South By-pass road. And when they built this new road along the tracks, they built new RR bridges, installed all new grade crossing lights, etc.. On Railfans weekend last year, I rode the F9 almost back to the Maine border. Then the train returned west along the former Mountain Division tracks all the way through Crawford Notch to just outside the freight yard in Whitefield, NH. The tracks along 302 look pretty good to me, it should not take too much work to get trains on this line again.

Jeff that's good advice. Dave take note, don't get to cocky. Things have a way of catching up with you.
No MRRing to day unless you count showing a friend how to make the corragated metal siding that I do. Terry and Ron had just quit for the day when I got over there. Good timing I guess.
Time to shove off.
Good Night All
Boy do I ache.
Good evening everybody.
Thanks to those who expressed understanding regarding Skeekie, our oldest cat that died. The other cat (Little Kitten) is Skeekie's twelve year old kitten. She's always been with Skeekie. Now, Little kitten seems lost as she goes aroung the house meowing for her mother. We'll just remember the good stuff about Skeekie and move on to other experiences.
I'm making a Burlington baggage car at present. CB&Q manufactured 60 smooth sided, lightweight baggage cars at its shops in Nebraska in 1950. Mine should look like one of those. I used a Rivarossi baggage car to start with. I should be done with it tomorrow.
Good News about possible opening of the rail line in Maine, Colby!
Jeff.......... Continue keeping Dave out of trouble there in Louisiana!
Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Bye.

Cool. and the best part is that people from Portland who want 2 go 2 the fryburge fair don't have to drive. Boston poeple could also go the fair via train using the DownEaster to get to portland.

Good Morning All!
Well not much on the go. I got the garden planted. the place cleaned up and we finally set sail yesterday. Always in a rush to gfet back onboard and when it's time to go home always in a rush to tidy up the paper work!
Dick: I have a C&O Texas, Great engine but i can't see a need for a second one. I'm still looking at the NP S4 4-8-4 but I'll wait until they're on the market and the reviews are in. Hate to say it but I'm hitting Loco saturation and will definately have to install a second main line that will have no less than 30" curves with no dips and hummocks (Bo-o-o-ring) The only way I'll be able to haul my Pullmans.
We'll be out until July 4th when we will be back in Halifax. I have about four or five MR kit's to build including a Erie Steam Shovel so at least I will be busy in my off time.
Later All

Mornin' all!
What a beautiful morning! God is so cool!
Time for breakfast!
Hook me up!
Looks like we might get a touch of rain today to water the flowers but the weekend looks PERFECT!
So what's going on with you all?
Good afternoon folks!
Monique's birthday is Sunday June 10th Happy Birthday Monique!
Dance lessons are now at the intermediate level and we learned the trail and the stutter step, in addition we practiced the belly roll and all the other previous steps we learned. Great fun and exercise too!
I lost another 5 ½ lbs on the diet this week. Yippee!!!!
Going to celebrate Monique's BD this weekend, she wants to go to the Y and hang out at the pool on Sunday after church.
What you all doing this weekend?
Garry, your story is amazing and heartfelt at the same time. Dogs are truly a human's best friend, and they do look out for each other too. Great story! So sorry that Max got hit though, that must have been rough! At our old house in New Orleans we would bury our animals in the back yard; we had a small pet cemetery in the southeast corner where Fluffy (rabbit), Tiger (cat), and Lucky (bird) are all still laid to rest. Of course the people we sold the house to have no idea that these sites exist.
Paul, live steam meet this weekend sounds like fun. Still waiting on some photos from the last one...

Dick, when you get a chance to take a breath?
Dave, good luck with the diet soda thing. I switched to Coke Zero and Sprite Zero, both taste better to me. But I only drink one a day at the most, the rest of the day I drink plain ole water.
Jeff, now that is one funny story! Tell Train Master Dave to heal up and take a breather!
Mike, cute story about the kittens born during the slumber in your bed!
Attaboy, very interesting article about NS plans for that super corridor, and thanks for sharing it with us.
Have a great weekend everybody!

I've been workin' on the railroad!
The baggage car was made from a Rivarossi car. CB&Q made 60 such cars in 1950 in their Nebraska shops. 20 painted silver and 40 painted traditional green. (They may have decided on two color schemes to help future model railroaders have variety in their train consists.)
My baggage car has 8 foot doors on left of each side, roof vents, body mounted kadee couplers, Tenshodo trucks, extra weights, and wire grab irons.
Colby may like the old MEC box car.
Ryan. Glad you appreciated the pet story.
