  Just my luck again... TOTP. Take it easy this time guys and gals. I need to save as much $$$ as possible for my trip next Sat to Knoxville. Gas will cost me a arm and a leg atleast!

  Anyways, not much to report on today. I spent the morning with mom and dad. Went to the Regional Farmer's Market and then out strawberry picking...yumo! This farm we went to had soem nice big fat juicy berries. We were there about 45 minutes and managed to pick 35lbs of berries and spent about $40 for all of them. Mom's already told me that she'll have plenty of jam made by the time I get back from Knoxville early August.

Well, this is my last 'free' weekend home till the 3rd of August. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to get on here between now and then, so if I don't get a chance to come in while I'm there, have a great summer everyone. For those that don't know why I am off to Knoxville, well I have to attend a 6wk leadership course that is a prerequisite for my next promotion. Sad thing is that the promo is still 2+ yrs away.

Yes, we had snow, wind, and power outage days. Total of 2 weeks off. Didn't change the end day one bit. BTW, I go to a private school.

Once again, came home with good grades... Nobody really cared. Well it is kind of typical... My average was something like 94-95.

Good enough for me.

Why yes it is one of them. This one makes a 10"x18" diorama and comes with a section of track for showcasing a engine or car or 2.

Now, I know what you mean, Mark.  That's similar to how I ended up with my two Big Boys and some other Rivarossi stuff. After some work and some replacement parts, my Big Boys actually run quite well after the repairs. You may not want to bother with all of that, however, and you may simply display the engine if that's better for you. Sorry to learn that your grandfather died.

Nice of you to stop by the diner. Everyone is welcome here. So Welcome!

You can talk about just about anything you want to. How your day was, the weather in your area (already have a few amature weathermen here), what your working on both train and other, etc.

I never really knew what the Old Coffee Shop or this the Diner actually was until pcarrell (Philip) invited me in for a spell. This was just shortly after loosing my wife back in March 29. There's a great group of guys and gal/s here. They helped me through some tough times and were only a keyboard away. So you see, this is quite the versital place to come and sit for a spell and say anything that's on your mind. Check out some of the past pages and get a feel for what everyones up to these days.

So, what do you model, road , scale and whatnot.

This is a slow time at the diner, must be that great weather and everyone's out and about. Later on you will see more posts as most will fill everyone in on today.

I see that you posted about any modelers in Loudon, I was almost ready to reply when I realized that your in Tennessee. The Loudon I know people in is in New Hampshire. So did you ever find anyone near you?

Mark.........  I like the Daylights. Glad you model them.  BTW, if you still have the old Rivarossi Big Boy and you don't want it:  Consider selling it "as is" on ebay.  I think youi aid it did not work well. It may fund more news stuff for you. I think SP 6050 is an E9 and I think the SP E8 was # 6018.  SP fans can confirm.

Looks like Ed's OJ is the hit of the day!  I'll go for a glass too I guess!

Well, another scorcher today!  Plenty of heat...mainly dry for the weekend!

TODAY: High pressure will keep us hot, and a southwest wind will keep us dry.  Highs today should climb to the 90 degree mark in most spots.

SUNDAY: A cold front will move into northern Indiana.  There should be enough instability to trigger a few storms north of Indianapolis, but most of central Indiana should stay dry.  Highs again will hit the lower 90's.  The U.S. Grand Prix should see dry weather, but even if they see a shower, they still race!  Jazz Fest looks okay as well...just take tons of sunscreen!

However, with upper-level ridging & the atmosphere essentially capped with warm-air I don't expect much

EXTENDED OUTLOOK: Hot & hazy will soon by joined by the other "H"....humidity.  Enjoy the low dewpoints that are in place currently....making this heat much more tolerable.  Early next week tropical moisture will stream northward....making flat-out steamy conditions Monday-Wednesday.  Here is the Forecast in the upper-levels by Monday morning.  The upper-level ridge will break-down just a bit, and allow for a storm system to move through.

DROUGHT WATCH: The rainfall deficit continues to climb with each day...and we're now over 3.50" below normal since May 1st.  Some counties in the area (including Marion, where Indianapolis is) are now in an official "Moderate" drought.  Nothing compared to the "Exceptional" drought conditions being felt in Alabama & Mississippi, but dry enough for Indianapolis Water Works to request customers to stop watering their lawns (the 1st time since 1998).  Rainfall potential through the weekend shows dry conditions for most of the Ohio Valley, with scattered chances in the southeast and heavy rains for Oklahoma & Texas.

For me, it's a quiet day of study and modeling before I go and teach this evening.  I've got a big class of 25 students this evening.  Oh, and I almost forgot!  I was asked to concider taking a teaching position at a local prison!  I'd be teaching Theology, my passion!  I'm seriously thinking of taking it.  It's an awesome opportunity to reach people for Christ!  My wife is a bit concerned that it's a maximum security prison, but I told her not to worry.  I've got God on my side!

Looks like the SP Daylight will be operating into Seattle soon.  Congrats on the new loco, Hoople. I recall SP had one E8 and the rest of the engines looking like the P2K model wer E9's.  Unit number should be a clue as to if it's an E9.

In the past few days I've weathered about 20 freight cars, and now I have several others on the work table to be weathered.

Dick: If the cable was ny thicker it would it would be called the Anchor Cable. Nah we'll stick to what we have. Put a few hooks on it and catch some Flounder. Funny you should mention Sue. I only picked up on that this morning after scanning it a couple of times yesterday, which was Date Squares and Nanimao Bars. It's a deadly place to work this boat of ours!

I got it for $52.25 total including shipping, its the new 2005 version, with working MARs light. I had a small battle. The price was $32.25, shipping $11. I placed a max bid of $52. A minute later the previous lead bidder bidded at $39. Troubled, he bidded again at $41.25, with 13 seconds left. I watched the clock run down.

Now the wait begins. Well it began an hour ago or so. Luckily it's in Arizona, and was brand new. I have to wait like 1-8 days.

Evening Gang: Mary Ann and I went to the primier showing of Six Flags Over Texas new show, Coobrila. We had a VIP invite with all the trimmings. The dinner was fantastic and the show was very good. So the whole night was a blast and free to boot.

I did move the gondolas into the shade after I got the sides painted. I had the cars up on the steaming bays to paint the sides so I didn't have to bend down. They are finished now and will be in use tomorrow.

Not much else going on. I'm going to try and spend the day tomorrow over at the meet. John has my locomotive cleaned up and ready to go. I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow night.

Good evening everyone......by the time I got into the Diner, all the food was gone except for a couple of stale doughnuts ( Fergie ? ) and the Danish were "attacked" by some lady from Washington ( per Zoe )...so lets see...I think I will have a Mango Frappe made with Vanilla ice cream...low fat please Cloe.

The sun finally made it today, sunny all day but cool at 70F. The Upper Level Low that has been off the coastline all week has finally broken down, but the winds were still out of the east, hence the cooler air ( ocean temp is still only 58 in the Gulf of Maine.

FERGIE: On the antenna line, why can't they use cable made froma stronger material of the same gauge? BTW, Sue said thank you for eating all the Danish.

CAPE JIM: Vinnie or Quito can handle the job. And yes, the lawyers may win their case but the beer case should be "empty".

BOBK:  The best way for you to get out to Palmer fast is to take the Mass Pike which has an exit in Palmer. I'm sure that is way you come? Tucker's is a 15 minute ride up route 67 from route 20 in Palmer. The CSX tracks run parallel to 67 most of the way, so you can also see trains as you drive.
