For that kind of money, if it runs even half as good as it looks, you made a great choice. How many miles (okay, kilometres) does it have on it? And the important question - how's the sound system in it? (Okay, what kind of mileage are you getting with it so far?)

It runs great! Mum has a very similar model to this one (mines newer) and it gets about 600km to a 70L tank on the highway or about 480 around town. It's got 117,600kms on it, so for a 7 year old car, its pretty low km's...
As for the sound system... the last guy upgraded it from standard... it's got a panasonic MP3/WMA/FM/AM stereo with two 400watt sub woofers and 400watt amp in the boot... great sound
I'm very pleased with it so far!

Sadly enough that happened in our neck of the woods. They are a couple of miles north of Littlerock and we are a couple of miles east. There seems to be a rash of injuries to children in our area from fireworks. That will lead to banning them I suspect. There are already many areas that fireworks are illegal.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Nice wheels James!
And Cox, I think you're refering to the Ford Thunderbolt. I think it ran A/FX and B/FX.
Good evening, Chloe - I'll go easy on young Hoople's budget since he's saving up for that engine. Just a decaf coffee for me, please.

My most often used tool would be the measuring tape. We have one in every room of the house, every car, on the tractor, and in the barn. I even have a 300 ft tape. That is a lot of measuring tapes. So, Sue, we could say that you "measure up"?

Oh, and Dick, I'm more like 'egging Garry OFF' - we don't know exactly what kind of a scrapper Sue might be with a pair of pliers (if she had 'em in hand...)
Ryan, looks like you made an excellent choice of birthday gift for Ben, and that he was quite pleased with it. Now, so long as Dad doesn't hog the birthday boy's telescope... Hope you guys get a little rain before too much longer. Maybe you should ask Paul or Jeff to ship you some over, possibly send a few clouds in a gondola for you.
Saw this company's stuff while I was looking at an item on eBay earlier tonight (Paper Creek Models):

Looks like they make pretty nice shingles and metal roofing, and they have a free outhouse plan that you can print out on heavy paper stock and assemble (in various scales) - downloadable PDF file. Here's their pic of their shingles (off their home page):
For those of us wanting to model a decrepit, falling-down-state-of-disrepair building, their stuff looks pretty useful. Check it out if you like.
Well, I'd better get going for now. Chloe, keep those pies hidden so even Fergie can't find them. (shhhh... )
Blessings and a good night's rest to all,

Evening Gang: We spent most of the day chasing around looking at new and used trucks with our son John. His old Chevy is giving him lots of problems and he's looking to replace it with some thing more reliable.
We took Daisy the Dog into the vet this morning for her surgery. I checked on her late this afternoon and she was doing fine. We will pick her up tomorrow morning and bring her home. We do miss her.
We are both tired so it's off to bed.
I woke up around 5am and couldn't sleep so went to the basement and cleaned up the layout a bit and put away tools. I'm finally going to get at raising the layout. I figure I can put pieces of 1x4 under each leg and the cases that are under parts of the layout. I need to raise it 6 inches so it will take lots of pieces. Fortunately I have them in abundance.
Good Night All

You must be refering to the Ford version of the Cyclone. Were not many produced, went like heck in a straight line. Braking , handling non existant. Even the reinforced unibody cried from the torque. Gee, may be a version of the early Shelby big block 427 tunnel port.

Kinda quiet in here tonight.
Hey Chloe, any pie left over in the refrigerated display case?
Yum! Thanks for the warmed apple pie a la mode!
I started work on my Stewart Industries HO Yard Servicing Facility Work Pit. I filed down the metal castings first to get them cleaned them up a bit. Then I cemented the metal casting sides with Goo and now they are drying in my magnetic gluing jig. I have six of these kits that will eventually make it into the bottom foundation of my 6-stall roundhouse.
Gotta go! Chloe.....keep the change!

All the storms missed us again today, this time Cape Cod is getting whacked by a huge TS with massive Cloud to Ground lightening coming in on Cape Cod Bay. It has really coole doff nice here, 64F, DP of 58F....AC is now OFF and all windows are at max open.
My LHS just called, he has two locos that I am interested in, A Stewart A-B-A unit for $50, and a NYC F unit, so I will head up there Tuesday.

RYAN: I know what you mean with additional hobbies. I have my fingers into several areas, which makes it hard to dedicate the time I would like for each. I have trying to do some family tree research, and getting it all onto a computer and DVD with photos of family members. Then there is the family veggie garden and the wife's landscaping of the yard, railfanning with photo shoots...better stop here.
HOOPLE: Sounds like a real nice BD gift, very thoughtful of mom.
OZ JIM: That is one nice restored car, watch out in parking lots, you know what happened to Scott.
GARRY: We just picked our first gallon of blueberries, so French blueberry pie is being served right now!!
SUE: I knew that you wouldn't throw the pliers, you don't seem like the type to me. I think Garry is trying to start something, and Jim is egging him ON.
Ohh OH here comes FERGIE, quick........hide the pies.
TIFN
I'll have the steak and fish, please.
Cox 47 wrote:They don't make a Falcon here anymore do they?
Nope, we haven't for many years, but the Falcon they have down under is a different beast from the one we had here in the states anyways. Both great cars though.

Dick, The safety issue would be not to pinch your finger or put your eye out. I seldom use pliers, Garry.
On a different note, on our trip to Larry's sister place in eastern WA, we took a side trip to the Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish. Larry took some photos with his phone that I will download later. Since we were on the motorcycle, we didn't have room for the camera. We will see how the phone pictures turn out.
I guess it is late enough to start the pressure washer without waking the neighborhood.
Morning folks!
Ben wanted a telescope for his birthday so last weekend we got him a new Meade ETX-80. He was excited when he found out that the full moon was on his birthday on the 30th. So far we have viewed Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and the moon. Only problem with this is now I am getting the bug to start up a new hobby too.... oh boy! You would be amazed at the amount of accessories you can add with the telescope.
Great fun, but you have to stay up late.
I have not found a way yet to look at the stars and planets during the day light hours.
Glad to see some of you are getting rain! We are in need of some real rain soon.
Now I do have plans to work in the train room next week, I am taking off work on Monday and Tuesday and have been given the green light from the CFO and the executive branch.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need, recovery, and health!
Cheers,
Ryan
Good morning everyone, another 0.26" of rain overnight in a TS that gave us a "glancing" blow. Just enough rain to keep the gardens happy.
It is hot and humid here, 64F dew point and 77% RH. Not as bad as southern states get much more often, but very uncomfortable for northerners. Sort of like 30F for southerners in Winter which is comfortable for northerners.
FRIDAY is here for all the w***king members of the Diner, or should I say, those who are getting a "salary" for their w**k as opposed to us retired people who work without a salary. LOL So what is planned for the weekend ???
GARRY: I just heard that Fergie is now secretly looking into buying 2-10-4's. He doesn't want the LHS's to jump their prices up, so he keeping this VERY quiet. I have sources that are keeping us informed.
ED: The Red Sox beat up the Devil Rays pretty bad last night, 15-4, 21 hits !!!!
Mornin' all!
We are getting off to a fantastic start on this Friday morning with mostly clear skies and temperatures in the 60s. We do have some patchy dense fog near Terre Haute and Shelbyville with visibilities down to a 1/4 mile in those two cities. Once the patchy fog burns off, we can expect plenty of sunshine and highs in the middle 80s. The humidity should be quite a bit lower too!
As we head into the weekend, hot and more humid air will return. Even though temperatures will approach 90 degrees on Saturday, the humidity will still be in the moderate range. However, big time heat and humidity will push back into the region on Sunday and Monday. It should be dry again for your weekend.
A cold front will be approaching the area next week. This front should bring an increasing threat for showers and thunderstorms by late Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Cooler air will return for the last half of next week.
Right now it's just beautiful out there!
And speaking of beautiful......Today is my anniversary to my beautiful bride of 18 years! I just can't begin to express how greatful I am that God brought her into my life! God is indeed good!
Good Morning All,
Rains stopped, suns out, how much better than that does it get? Thanks Luc and Bill - I'll have a regular and a glazed donut please. Still struggling with the job load here but slowly making progress.
Found a bunch of DPM buildings for the front of the layout that will fit nicely between the track and the elevated section. A little bashing here and there and it should look good. Next step is to cut out the footprints and do some arranging.
good to hear from Ed and James again - a Falcon is way better than a Holden (they couldn't even get rid of the new GTO's they made out of Holdens here).
Time to pick up tools, CUL, J.R.
Evening all! I got myself a car yesterday!! a 2000 Ford Falcon AU 'classic' sedan... i'll post a picture tomorrow...

I see Jeff already latched on to my first box of donuts so I went and picked up another !
Morning guys. I woke up early due to low blood sugar (62 on the meter). I'll take the box of donuts.
