Happy Independence Day, everyone!

Hey, I'm gonna dash outside before the ice cream truck leaves and get me a cone! Be right back, Zoe!

RT, thanks for the update on Zeke - he sure is a fighter, and I (pray and) expect he'll make it through this all right. Go, Zeke! Bow [bow] Thumbs Up [tup] Bow [bow] Bow [bow]

PC, don't let everyone get all the ribs before I get there! I figure I'll put away half a side by myself. Dinner [dinner] Yum!

JR, that video looked like you had some fun driving that car (whatever model it was). The early part of that road looked like it almost had as many tar patches on it as it had actual road. Wink [;)] Thanks for sharing it!

No rain for us here, though there might be some after the fireworks - or tomorrow. Today, just some clouds most of the afternoon, and hot - about 90 F - Ed would feel right at home here!) Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Luc, nice band you brought in for today's festivities. Thumbs Up [tup] Nice pics of the grandkids (and proud grandparents) too! Still trying to figure if I reconize any of the players in the band... and I'm sure glad that Garry called in the ice cream guy (slurp!). Smile [:)]

Nice fireworks, Bill T. - and speaking of which - PC, we're expecting some more nice boomers and sparklies from you tonight. I've asked the twins to get some popcorn and sodas ready, and I brought my lawn chair to kick back and enjoy the show.

Happy waxing, Bob K. - as for myself, I got a couple of those 3-bay hoppers done (starting to get the hang of them, two more to go), and also put KD's on a few boxcars that still had the old X2F's on 'em. Got out my NP SW1200 (P2K), since our club's going to run trains at one member's layout on Sunday afternoon.

Well, if you'll excuse me, that ice cream cone just started my appetite, and I have a side of ribs over on PC's grill that has my name on 'em. Gotta get started so I'll be done before the fireworks start! Yeah!! [yeah] Ooh, these are pretty heavy, guess I'll have to eat them with both hands. Well, that's all right! Dinner [dinner]

Blessings and a great day for you all,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Garry;

I suspect those locomotives were Hudsons or Pacifics.  They were CPR's work horses then.

Hi Gang: I just thought I'd stop in and say hello. I mowed the lane again and set the battery charger on the diesel truck. I really need to run it more.

It's raining again east of us and it's moving west. That's unusual for the weather to move west. I don't know if it will get it to us it's in between Ft Worth and dallas now.

I need to get back out and work on the road to the barn. It's getting rutted and needs some gravel. Then I need to sharpen the blades on the other mower and give both of them a grease job.

RT: I'm happy to hear that Zeke is doing better. I hope that he gets home soon. That will help a whole bunch to make him feel better. He certainly been through a lot.

See you all later.

A happy 4th to all. Not much going on today. Dropped my mother off to take the Logan shuttle. She leaves to go home today. She's been boppin' al over the skies these past few months. Besides coming out for April's service and funeral, 5 of her grandchildren had graduations and one wedding. 3 high school and 2 college. The only problem is they were scattered around at different dates and  here in MA then CA and TX. Actually her flight was round trip from Orange Co, CA. She has to return to CA then will return to TX. At least she can visit w/ my brothers for a while. No rush for her to get home.

Luc,

Nice to see you stop in. Hope things are going better for you.

Philip: Save a spot in the line for me- those are good looking ribs, Can't wait. For now I'll just have some eggs benny and a coffee.

Ed: Nice of you to think of us while out gala vanting around the world. We've been talking about you (ears burning or anything like that). All are hoping you can get back to working on the layout.

Zeke and Jenny: Continued thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. At least you seem to be out of the woods.

Ryan: I think that shrimp will go just dandy with Phil's ribs, any left?

Been detailing my Caravan as I'm posting. Nice way to take breaks from that job. The dashboard reinstall went well, now let's see how the AC will work> Better spit out ice cubes and stay that way for a few seasons.

Back to the wax on-wax off, check in later,

The video is shakey, but so was the road. Elapsed time for 5.6 miles was 4 minutes 39 seconds I have a friend who is going to try to edit out the shakes if that happens I can repost.

That was awesome!  Was that one of the 7's?  Sounded like a covenrty climax.

Good Morning All,

Back in the shop constructing gearboxes but making progress.

RT- thanks the the update on Zeke and we'll keep the two of them in our prayers til we here he's home and recuperating.

bob - the layout is crowded enough that I could lose some buildings but the big ones use the sidings over in a corner and I'd lose too much ops. What I'll do is pull the rest of the stuff away and rethink the scenery. I had the lower level set up for ops mainly and the raised section connects to the incline to the upper level. The two track bridge is Walthers. I don't really worry about how prototypical it is, but it looks good and can be bashed about as needed. The Central Valley bridge on the other side of the layout really turned out to be a disappointment though I love the girder bridges they do.

As an aside (non train related) here is a link to what else some of us do on the weekends.

Thanks luct for sharing your family get-together with us.  You have every reason in the world to be proud!

BTW, luct, one of my good memories was riding on the Canadian Pacific. The trip was in western Canada in the 1950's with CPR's heavyweight equipment. In the Rockies, there was an open observation car (full-length with center third enclosed). I can still smell the pine tress as we approached the spiral tunnels. As we headed home a few days later, we road a train on CPR-SOO to St Paul. It had a CPR steam loco to the US border where SOO diesels took over.

Cheers!

Many continued prayers for Zeke and Jenny!  I couldn't stop thinking about them last night and their situation.  Must be terrifying for both of them.  I pray that Zeke will not only be OK, but also that God will give both of them a peace that surpasses all understanding through all of this.

They also spotted a hole in his heart which they repaired, they told me he can leave here as soon as wed or thursday as lond as he shows improvements. Im not sure if he will be here if you mailed him cards. If you want to send them please just send them to our home,  i  dont think he will be here long they said its working properly and really only need him to stay here 1-2 days. Seems short time for a pacemaker operation but im not dr.

 zeke wrote:

Wow, Its nice to see you all care so much for Zeke. Well Zeke did suffer a heart attack last night. His heart stopped last night for 4 minutes. (sorry its hard to type this without cryin) They brought him back and he's in critical condition, they took him into syrgery last night and took out his diflibulator. I was told it was infected around the area of it. Also something i didnt know is that his heart is in backwards, and when he was shot in bagdad the bullet removed a section of his heart. Whoever performed surgery on him saved his life. But theres a section missing from his heart. Which in turn causes him to have a very slow or irregular heart beat, the doctor called it bradycardia. I believe thats how its spelled. so they gave him the diflb. But the doctors here said that he should have had a pacemaker instead. so they are installed a pacemaker. He hasnt woke up yet and the doctors are worried his body is nt responding. Hes still in critical condition right now. He also has this brain tumor they want to remove, not sure if they are gonna do it or when. waiting to hear from dr.  Zeke is a survivor he will pull threw. This man has been stabbed three times, shot 3 times, suffered 2 heart attacks, a brain anurizim and has a brain tumor, he will pull threw this, he has to.

Goin back to the hospital now.

Good morning. Happy Independence day.

The only good thing I can say about the weather here is that it will keep the incidence of fireworks related fires down. There's some fools out here shooting them everywhere and at everything. One guy even shot a couple off toward a police car and actually wondered why he got arrested!

Chloe, did I hear someone mention apple pie? I was just over the ridge, and it sure sounded like Ryan's voice mentioning pie! Yum! Quick - cut me off apiece before PC and the others finish it all off. (Better hide a piece or two for Fergie - don't want him to arrive and find out the pie's all gone...)

RT, let Jenny know to tell Zeke that there're a lot of us praying for him (and her; I'm sure she's anxious about all this) in here. We'll look forward to hearing from him once he's out and recuperating (hopefully next week), and we'll settle for hearing whatever news Jenny has for us in the meantime.

PC, very nice fireworks - I assume you checked with the twins here about the local fireworks ordinances, right? Wink [;)] I hope you're saving plenty of the fireworks for tomorrow night, aren't you?

Ed, good to hear from you - now you can tow one of those icebergs behind your plane and have nice, cold ice for your beverages when you get home. Wink [;)] Hope Fran gets to see her puffin and moose, as well.   Oh look! There goes one -

Oops [oops], sorry - wrong moose! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Well, guess I'm going to call it a night, even if I get to sleep in tomorrow like one of you ORF's... Smile [:)]

Blessings and a good night's rest,

RT: Tell Jenny to tell Zeke that I'm pulling for him also.

Ed: Good to here from you in the great north country. How was the trip? John and his wife just got back from Kodiak Alaska. They said that it was warm up there and no rain. Drop me a line if you get the chance. I remember reading about the RR up there when it was abondoned. I've seen photos of the diesels that they had.

The kids were really out from the jet lag. They didn't get up untill after noon. Mary Ann and I are about pooped out tonight. I'm ready to hit the sack. In fact I think I will.

Hi, this is zeke's girlfriend Jenny. He had to go in for emergency surgery. His diflibulator shorted? Its been going off like crazy and shocking zeke like hes in the electric chair for a week almost. He suffered a heart attack tonight, it was not life threatning but they took him away and I dont know what is going on yet really. But zeke told me to come here and tell you guys. He thinks the world of you guys, hes always talking about you all. You guys dont know it but you saved his live. Before he started on this forum he was drinking really bad, he didnt want to live, he has lost everyone in his life that he cared about all within the last yr or so. the hardest was his son. Sent him over the deepend. he is usually heavily medicated due to severe depression and post dramatic stress disorder and losing his brother over in bagdad was very graphic and hard for him to.But meeting you all he is so much happier and hardly takes any meds. He told me that he thinks of you all like family because you care. These trains are the only thing he talks about, and you all. He loves the trains, but he has a severe brain tumor to, dont know if he told you all, but its the size of a hardball and its starting to cause him to lose his sight in his right eye. this is the main reason he hasnt got anywere on his layout. he cant see it very well . I hope this helps understand my stubborn zeke. hes in bad health but is a survivor. I will tell him your praying for him.You know he told me to tell you guys that he will be back and be posting twice as much. Right as they were rolling him away. well Im headed back to the hospital. The next time you see zeke's name it will be him posting, Please just pray for him.thank you very much
