Born in NeyJersey, grew up in AZ (note: never actually grew up...just got older), lived a dozen years in WA, then settled here in GA (with a woman I met in England). Still have many relatives & friends all along the west coast from CA to WA. I do like the deep south for it's interesting weather and abundant sunshine...no comment on the locals!

If it's a Canon powershot A400 (it's my mom's), I can help. the funny is my mom is still firguing out the smaller details ie. deleting photos, she had to take a class to learn how to work it. Me.. I ask witch button you press to take the pic. Mostly I'm self taught.

Rob what state are you from? Cause to me it sounds like you live not that far away from Maine or Portland, ME.
BTW, Paul thanks for the pre-midnight snack appitesier. I'll have a...... root beer and couple of strawberries
Evening Gang: Not much since this afternoon. Right now I'm tired and getting ready for bed. Seems that I do that alot. I did get one of the drive shafts is a go so I'll put it on tomorrow. The fields are all wet again so I don't know when we'll be able to mow the weeds and get the hay cut and baled. I won't be able to do any trimming on the UP ether. HUM sounds like I should go to the basement and do some MRRing. Tomorrow is a MRRing day .
Here I am again at the top. Sorry PC.
Well I'll say Good Night All

Good Evening All,
I'll have a coffee and just mosey on to the back booth for a bit. Got home shut my eyes for a second and boom an hour went by. Missed my museum meeting but did spend some time working on my Horribly Oversized DPM buildings. Jerry was right on they look much better with some paint, window glazing and curtains. I'm going for that downtown Bridgeport look with most of the buildings having narrow alleyways between them instead of the "side by each" big city way. Behind the two and three story buildings I'll have another row of taller buildings and warehouses then in the back are the big factories and next to them will be some oil tanks and if I get really ambitious a coal company. On the other side of the elevated tracks is the great abyss or table edge and further up is the river/shallows which is just roughed in for now. The good news is the track all works so long as I run the curved joins of the swing bridge at low speed. I spent about an hour running my switchers back and forth just to keep any temptaion from the (really tiny) Dark side away.
Rob - i sympathize with your back troubles - occupational hazard for me but when it gets too bad the chiropractor works wonders. Back to the drying paint tough to find a lot of different tints for brick that look realistic, but I'm trying. CUL,J.R.
***Jeffrey, the engine looks great. Pardon my short memory, but what kind of red & grey paint did you use again and did you coat them with a finish/sealer? BTW, hope you can find improvement with those health issues.
***Duke, that photo of the Berkshire with the dome car & the side view photo sure give a good impression of it's size. Very cool!
Spent most of the day in bed with the back problem. Very frustrating when it acts up, but in time it always returns to usable condition. For the present there is not a darn thing I can do about it. Had some much needed rain this evening, so that's something good to report on.
The GP38-2 ends are done. All that remains are the number boards.
Hi everyone!
Greetings from Knoxville. Weather sucks and I wanna go home! Thank god I only have one more week left here before I can be homeward bound!
Well, just wanted to stop in and say hi and let everyone know I am still alive.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Oh, even better! I bet you can follow dem trains easier too from the bikes!
Dick Yes,we are very lucky to have a Berk that runs let alone just to have a steam locomotive that they will let on the tracks.
Rob I was too interested in the loco but I believe it was 5 or 6 coaches and the route was only about 39mi and a straight shot.
Lilrob and Krump back.
Garry I haven't checked my Email yet but from Ryan's last post I think you have found them.
Ok here are some more pics.
Ray's wife is in the foreground and Ruth has her back to the camera and she was surprised at how big it was.
That's about it

Hey Guys and Sue.
I'll have a omlet with cheese, ham and blueberrys. I'll also have some bacon, orange juice, and sodafided black cherry water.
Rob- One day you might get a chance, or you can go to http://www.mngrr.org/ to find out when the next gest engineer day is.
Jim- Yeah it was hard work working in #4, but it was fun work.
J.R.- Muggle Fest was the first and last of it's kind. It was put on the celebrate the final Harry Potter book. I've volinteered there for big event's but this in my first time moving some many people in a short amount of time.
Dick- Muggle Fest was an experience for everyone. The MNGRR did the best it could, but in the end an extra car would have helped.
Everyone- you should check out the MNGRR web site. http://www.mngrr.org/ and http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/slideshows/narrow_gauge/
(in a cushioned booth) Please & Thank you!
Took nearly 10 minutes just to figure out how to get out of bed and stand up today. Didn't mention it yesterday, but an old disc problem resurfaced. Feels like large sharp rocks stuck between several lower vertebrae, pressing on nerve endings. No pills have helped, not even ice. Does improve slightly as the day progresses. Still, I walk like a 100 year old and can only carry small flakes of hay at one time over and over to feed the horses (rather than the usual bale in each hand). Paying dearly for those serious triathlete days, and Degenerative discs that run in my family. OK, enough whining. Need to get out of this hard chair and move. I HATE this when it happens, but it usually returnes to normal given enought time. Oh well, whining doesn't get anything accomplished and I keep reminding myself it could always be much worse. -Rob
Good day
Early Afternoon All:
There was a big explosion in Dallas this morning. A fire at a welding supply firm near downtown has I-30 and a nother hi-way shut down. There was a pieces of gas cylinders flyint through the air. It's pretty well burned itself out now. Only 3 persons hurt so far. They are serious but in stable condition.
Ryan: I'm just getting the collection cleaned up. I don't think there is a revolution.
I just took a break to get dry and cool so I thought I'd stop in. It's not that warm but very humid. I'm working on the PTO shafts for the brush hogs. The gear box for the older one is locked up. It probably has some water in it that has rusted the bearings. I don't know if it's worth repairing as the deck is pretty beat up.
Welcome back Li'll Rob. I've been wondering how you were doing.
Krump it's good to see you back in the diner. You got to be carefull. Don't show up for awhile and they move.
I'll stop back in tonight.
Hey ya'll, I'll have some coffee Zoe.
JERRY, I've been around, just sneaking in the back door some and keeping up with all the goings on. Been some good photos posted along with all the layout progress coming along with ya'll.
I have started posts a few times, but realized, I didn't really have much say. Weather been all right, garden coming on heavy now, been freezing stuff, and now the caning is bout ready to start. Yard work, honey-do's, and other projects are moving along slow, in between all the grandkids most everyday.
Mother been busy most weekends, selling jewelry, if she's not doing that, then there's AL, or some thing else going on with family. The Clark county fair starts this weekend, so she'll be gone for 7 days, other than coming home to sleep n shower n change clothes.
Did get some trains pics in the lastcouple weeks or so, of Amtrak at the Effingham's station, a UP coal train coming through with a pusher engine, and some pics from Little John grain loading cars. More than i can post on here with dail-up, you can check then out on my link below.
Planning a trip to Terre Haute for some pics at Graham grain [now Con-Agra]. They have an Alco switcher, I've been wanting to get pics of and found out my FIL can help me get them and he has the manuals plus the bill of sale [he thinks], that I can photo copy [hopefully].
Also found out bout a short line, the Effingham RR over in on Effingham's west side. Which connects to the IC/CN and CSX. So, a trip over there is in the plans, just don't know when.
So, now ya'lls caught with every thing with us here, still it seems nothing much to talk about, to me anyway. Hope you'ens has a good n safe day

Just back from the museum and dropping the next load of sorting and repairs to do. Over the weekend someone figured it would be fun to alter the settings on the Npossible gauge display and ended up recreating the wreck of the Federal at Jenkins Curve. So we start all over again tidying up and fixing. Oh well.
Der - have enough wrecked stuff that for the time being metal wheels are not a problem. I'm just finding out about the different flange heights and haven't bothered with different axel lengths yet. Maybe next week.
Jerry - I'm still digging through the debris looking for IC power. No luck yet but there's still hope. Brought another box of stuff to sort out plus enough stuff to make a small test loop in case I actually think I've repaired something.
Sue - I'll probably leave a couple of the Atlas turnouts in the back corners where they are both working ok and not very visible, but all the mainline will get Peco's especially one really troublesome turn and the home made double crossover. I especially like the hidden switch machines after i put a piece of black paper between the track and machine to hide it.
Well, tomorrow comes early so I'll wander off for now. CUL, J.R.
