I'm going to give it another try.  If it comes through, it's my Beichstahl bridge modification.  Unlike Art's, it only goes over a lake, not a spectacular canyon.

Tom,

I can click on both of these as links to see the pictures.  If you want the pictures to show up in your posts, you have to use the correct syntax, with [ img] and [ /img] (without the spaces after the "[" symbol).

Both of your links above are missing the "[" and "]" at the beginning of the line.  If you put those in, the pictures should appear in the post.

Now, listen to ME talking!  At first, I couldn't post a picture here if my life depended on it!  I started using Railimages and I could NEVER remember the proper syntax for posting pictures.  Then I started using Photobucket.  Every photo in my Photobucket album has three URL's listed below it.  The third URL is in the syntax used by this forum, and others.  I just copy that link and paste it into a post and the picture shows up in my post.  Since I started using Photobucket, I haven't had ANY problems posting a picture, and I DON"T HAVE TO REMEMBER the syntax!!  Great for those of us whose memory is fading faster than a snowflake in July!!

Someone complained about using the "quote" feature and reproducing pictures in the quote.  For those on dial-up, it must be a real PIA having to wait for photos that you have already seen to show up in a quote!  Sorry, I never thought about that!  I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree when it comes to computer savvy stuff!  It would be considerate to remove the photo links when quoting so the pictures don't appear over and over again.  The only time having the photos appear a second time is when the photos are in a post on page 1 and the thread is already on page 2 or 3!  Then it's convenient to have the photos shown so everyone can follow the conversation without having to flip back and forth from one page to the other.

I will try to be considerate and not quote the pictures unless there is a good need for it.  Maybe others will do the same and dial-up users won't be stuck in "loading pictures" hell!

John--thanks, buddy, I'm REALLY trying, but the new forum doesn't seem to want to let me.  I even used the [ img] [ /img] at the beginning and end, as I used to do on the old forum, and what I ended up was that mess of letters and numbers that you see on my last post.  Fiatfan thought I might be using a Mac or Safari, but I've got the same PC that I've always had.  Guess I'll go see if I can get some help from Bergie on this.  Hopefully, he'll have some sort of solution.  If not--well, no more pictures.

I can't get the pics to work either, they show up on the preview page but not on the post, and [ img], [ /img] are replaced with

Well, we might want to try a new HUGE bridge pics thread.  This one is already messed up by so many people quoting the pictures, discussing how to post a picture (even though it hasn't changed a bit old to new form), and then the other stuff.    Maybe everyone who posts a picture should check the "Do not allow replies" button!

Testing the locked thread problem.  This is a reply to the previous post, not the last locked one.

And just to stay on topic, I'm building a really little bridge.  It's only long enough for one 38-foot hopper, and it will contain the coal dump unit for my old Mantua clamshell hoppers.  Film at 11.

It's kinda tricky apparently .... sometimes when you add the img tags, the http address gets underlined and turns blue creating a hyperlink instead !?!  As long as you can get the img tags on either end cleanly, the pix WILL show properly.

Wow did I mess up. I wish I would have incorporated that bridge on my WP layout. There is a hiway bridge in the Feather River canyon that looks very close to it. When I seen your picture I jumped up and checked out if could squeeeeeez it in, maybe next time LOL. Your waterfall and backdrop really makes it pop out, nice touch my friend...John

BTW what type of bridge are you planning in the lower left, keep us posted.

Mr Jwar
I'm glad to see someone modeling the Keddie Wye bridge. That is my favorite shot in the U.P. calendar.
I just wish I has the room.
I really tried to figure out a way before the bull dozer showed up.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.

Ok Art!  These are not all that big, but there are four in a row........

The wooden trestles are scratchbuilt and the two other ones are kitbashed.

It's no where near as nice as Mark's, but one day I'll finish my model of Nicholson:

But do have a couple of much smaller but finished bridges.

Concrete Arch over Plaster Creek, scratch built from styrene:

Stone Arch over Barger Run, made from two N scale tunnel portals:

This is just a pair of Atlas N scale viaducts spliced together.  I added the steel strapping and rods to simulate some of the reinforcement PRR added to prevent spawling.

Great bridges guys. Some look the size of my whole layout LOL.
I hope it is ok to show mine here. All I have for now is this one from a tutorial I wrote recently.

Scenery isn't done yet.
I hope you like it :)
My name is Stephen and I want to give back to this great hobby. So please pop over to my website and enjoy the free tutorials. If you live near me maybe we can share layouts. :) Have fun and God bless. http://fsm1000.googlepages.com

Here goes my first attempt at posting a photo since the inauguration of the new forum format.  (fingers crossed) Blush [:I]

These are shots of the Algoma Central's trestle over the Montreal River, taken from the southbound "Tour of the Line" train in May 2004.

Hi There;

This is a trestle I scrachtbuilt for my old RR. I could'nt use it on my present RR so I converted it into a coal transfer trestle. I got the idea from a pic in a book where a narrow gauge line transfered coal to a standard gauge line.

P.S. The scenery isn't finished but I still consider myself A Model Railroader with a layout. (for cnj831)

Nice bridges tommyr!!! I was thru Oliver on my way to visit freinds in Summerland. Beautiful country, got to see the KVR 2-8-0 operating and boat rides on the Okanogan and taste really good fruit. Also saw the MR on the Sicamouse, both model and ship very cool.
In Lewiston Idaho, where they filmed Breakheart pass.
