LOL. The age of the computer. I guess some people have been possessed by on line etiquette. To me. I couldn't care less. Maybe some of us older folks with less than 20/20 vision would even appreciate capitals. Just my opinion.[2c]

a recent forum member asked a train related question using all capital letters, and was deluged by others as "shouting" since when is the written word able to project a tone of voice? who thinks this stuff up ? is there some place that makes up these rules? if caps are shouting, how do we then signify "whispering?" or "singing" or "sobbing" surely this must be a question if "shouting" is such a problem and mystery to some readers. what about "small caps" in writing? would this also confuse some readers? and the most unbelievable statement of all, that all caps make reading very difficult ! can you be really serious, you mean to say because a letter is capitalized it makes it more difficult to read, these poor people must miss out on a lot information as a lot of signage is in capital letters, just where did these people go to school ? i'm sure the letter writer who used the caps, found by the responses that a lot of people had no difficulty reading his message. i'm now afraid to use capitals at the front of a word as it may be interpreted as me shouting the first letter of the word.
