Ok, the accepted and well explained thread rules prohibit sales, politics, religion and personal assaults.

Let's hope there's an amendment that says obvious satire in sales offerings are allowed and welcomed. (If so, this thread will run forever)

This could out live the DOS thread!

Nah, this thread keeps dying out and MTHrules just keeps starting new ones. No staying power. [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][:-,][swg]

Well don't bother holding one of those "stunners" for me, I too will be going off to BLI. Only fair that I leave that quality MTH locomotive for the likes of major collectors and museums and presidents and kings and queens. MTH I can only dream.

Eighth wonder.....for HO scale?

Well, I'd have to disagree.....

In model railroading circles, I'd have to say that the Veranda Turbine that hit the market two years ago was a super winner!

So do the people down at MTH have absolutly no idea how to create a positive product buzz. Honestly by proclaiming they are the "8th wonder of the world" they are only setting themselves up for a fall. MTH is trying to be all things to all people, and i honestly believe that it will come back and bit them in the butt. They should just stay with O gauge but hey, MTH is proving the old adage of how to make a small fortune in the hobby business, by starting with a large one.[:D]

Crossracer,

It's not MTH that's proclaiming 8th wonder. Just our friend MTH ules.....

I don't think he works for MTH but is just a big fan of or is obsessed with MTH. He's actually made some intelligent posts over on the CTT forum, especially regarding insurance, but in some of the posts he's made here in the past, all he suceeded in doing was fanning the flames against MTH. So logically, an employee that depends on MTH for a living is not going to shoot his employer in the foot by causing him to lose business.[banghead]

So, most of us are cordial with him, and Bergie lets him have his fun as his threads no longer draw the torpedoes that they once did.[;)][;)][;)]

Peace out.

I figure if he works for anyone he works for BLI. It's obvious how damaging his "style" of posting about MTH is, yet he persists... Hmmm.

Ah, Kchronister you sound like a thinker,...............interesting deduction!

So your theory is that he may just be using reverse psychology by inadvertantly showering MTH with compliments.......knowing fully well that many HO modelers would just become even more incensed with MTH, henceforth, BLI reaps even more loyalty as some of the above posts seem to reflect!

Very interesting theory indeed! If true.........then MTHRules is indeed a smashing sucesss! [:D] However, if this theory is not true.........then Mike's Train House is in trouble as far as HO customers go! [V] He apparently likes to "yank our chains, yet does he realize that he's still helping to hurt Mike's business?

Oh well. I'm imagining poor Mike Wolf trying to contact MTHRules and beg him with something like: " You know, I really appreciate what you've been trying to do for the past 2 or 3 years...........But do me a small favor: PLEEEEEEEEASE STOP! SLAM ON THE BRAKES! You're chasing my POTENTIAL customers away!!!!" [:0][B)]

Just a thought[;)]

Just my paranoid streak coming through.

But whoever he is, I hope Mike HAS sent him such a note! I don't think there's any question he's a detriment to MTH whoever he is.

So, are you suggesting that maybe Mike should sue MTHrules?

Oh boy! Now we're really getting creative here! But no! Don't want to invite a flame war. So instead I just hope MTHRules and we continue to get along.

OHHHHHH I wish I got one of those when Lionel began blowing them out. There the production quality was a little 'if-y'. Hit or miss. Lovely looking units, but some mechanisms arrived mucked up.

Those turbines are no longer being produced?

I remember that back in 2004 one of our own forum member's herebought one and then posted a weblink that featured a "very nicel" sound demo. Would be cool if someone found it and brought it back up to page one.

Sounded like a jet plane! As I suggested, for HO, that's the eigth wonder of the world!

I picked up one of the Lionel Turbines on the blow out sale and it is an interesting model, but I don't think it is rated the eight wonder, at least not in my area. It does sound good, but you have to change the CV's to eliminate the diesel start up sound everytime. They did use the small diesel around terminal during services to protect the hearing of all within a four block radius, but the big turbine engine was not shut down everytime they stopped. The blowout Challengers were fairly good also if you got one that ran.

Maybe someone will produce it again under another import name. Tower 55 is coming out with the 8500 HP three unit turbine and wil have sound in it also.

No I take that back. The Lionel Turbine came out almost two years ago before the summer of 2005 and that does make it the eight wonder of the world.
