By the time it IS out it may be the ninth or tenth wonder of the world. Or is it just going to be a wonder; as in: "I wonder if they'll ever make it to market?"

This reminds me of the joke about the computerized transatlantic airliner which was so advanced that it didn't need a human crew. Announcement from the computerized flight system to passengers said, "Welcome aboard the first totally computerized transAtlantic flight. There is no human flight crew since all flight functions will be handled by the most advanced computer and avionics systems. Our flight plan parameters are: cruising altitude 36,000 feet, speed will be 550 mph and our present ETA at Heathrow Airport, UK is 5 hours, 20 minutes. The lack of a human flight crew is nothing to be concerned about since nothing can go wrong, nothing can go wrong, nothing can go wrong........nothing can go wrong."

Looks like something may have gone wrong with delivery date of MTH's K4s. Too much time and effort on lawsuits? Doing a redesign to incorporate 5-DCC?(Now that IS a wonder of the world)

It's another HO scale steamer. I note with interest that support for DCC is now claimed...

Hardly the "Eighth Wonder of the World" really. I suggest you take a look at some of the smaller N scale locos if you want to see wonders - Minitrix, for example, make this little thing: http://www.minitrix.de/produkte/frontend/index.php?page=detail&detail&sCountryCode=de&start=0&nr=12114&stichwort=&baureihe=&spur=7&gruppe=8&untergruppe=all&epoche=all&merkmale=all&show=detail&iNeuheitenKatalogID=&sNeuheitenSpur=&fromSLIMSITE=&wishednumber= It has a DCC decoder built in and measures under 2in. If you want wonders, this is way ahead of a HO scale loco of unproven reliability. Minitrix locos will run for decades with proper servicing (and I'm not being paid to say that - it comes from ownership of a few!).

Edit: Upon examining the pictures, I take it this is an early pre-production model? It looks worse than Triang locos of 30 years ago! I have a 1996 Hornby A3 sitting in the store cupboard that looks more realistic.

This is a flat-out advertising post. No doubt about it. When a newbie small businessman with a product announcement does this, the response is usually swift, but friendly. In general, the poster will apologize and delete the entire post, because it violates forum rules.

MTHRULES knows the rules. In general, he/she/it does not violate them, preferring to chime in with his personal style of balderdash. MTHRULES als knows that Bergie goes home on Friday evening, and doesn't show up again until Monday morning. This post will live until then, unless MTHRULES does the right thing and deletes it. Note when the original post was made. No coincidence there.

On the other hand, most of the replies to any MTH post are straight out of Comedy Central. The guy is a magnet for invective, humorous and otherwise. Maybe we should just leave this post here to see how many negative responses it can attract.

Well - I saw the 'eighth wonder' at the WGH train show this morning. It was not running, and was buried on the wall display along with other stuff. I asked about it, and the answer was 'soon' and they could not run it as they did not have a HO track. Of course, I could not get a real good view of the level of detail as my vision(and nose..) was obscured by all of the 'smoke' from the running display!

Until this week, my only exposure to MTH was a note in the BLI manual explaining they had to disable one of the functions while a lawsuit by MTH is being resolved. If not for that I would have never heard of this company.

I actually saw the MTH HO Pennsy K-4 today at the World's Greatest Hobby Tour show in St Paul this afternoon. I was looking for it and missed it the first time. It was running on a roller base, and seemed buried among the O gauge offerings. There was no test track to do a true DCS demo. It didn't look like anything special to me. I just don't see how this engine is going to win market share.
