Want DCC so much, but can't afford it right now! I wouldn't use it on my upcoming N scale layout, as it's too smalll for it, but the HO DC layout could really use it. it seems to be definitely, but until I can get a job with the hours I need to not compete with school...

I'm using DC and also AC with SCRs. My HO layout is a medium size of about 22'x25', partially double-decked. I have a fair amount of locomotives, and no plans to switch to DCC. My wiring is very simple: mostly for turning wyes and loco servicing areas/turntables. Since I operate alone 95% of the time and the layout is designed as a single track point-to-point, DCC has nothing to offer me, even though I do appreciate its technical capabilities.

You should have created a third choice -- BOTH. I wired the Cochise & Western Model Railroad Club's 20x40 foot HO Scale layout so people can run either way, because we invariably get new members who don't know what DCC is and want to run their old Tyco or Mantua trains because they have a sentimental attachment to them.

i don't want to switch to DCC anytime soon. i think it only pays if you have a large layout and a lot of locomotives.

Yep still on the old stuff, I plan to go to DCC when I build my new RR sometime next year.
Pay attention to what you read here, you may actually answer someone's question!

Just trying to figure out if anyone still runs DC with a billion wires and switches? Has this DCC thing taken over?
