Here is my summary of Falls Valley Business closing this week of November 26th (Pages 1 and 2 of this thread)

I see a need for other railroads to join this thread to bridge my traffic around the nation to those who are not located near my area.

My interchanges are:

All traffic to and from the west coast via Wheeling Wva
All traffic to and from Great Lakes via Harrisburg PA (This includes all Canada Traffic by way of either Detroit MI or Buffalo NY
All traffic to and from the south (Fla to Tx) via Manassas VA

East coast ports and NE to Maine is via Frederick Md Sub that connects with the B&O

There are some offers to each railroad involved in interchange with me.
There are some offers being made to each railroad in interchange with me.
I tried best to determine geographical location to enable interchange but need better information.
I will consider new railroads and thier business as they come on line in this topic.

If there is some way of keeping everyone straight, I have each account on a notepad file on my computer and so far I think I have everyone, if I forgot someone, let me know and we will get the business correct.

Ok, My outbound means going TO YOUR railroad, my inbound means COMING FROM your railroad.

Ok First off:

GDRMCo Where are your railroad located? I need to find a Port
*****
Fergie Where are your railroad located? I need to find a Port
*****

I would like to offer you a variety of loads useful to your part of the USA. Either by bridge or direct shipping.

*****
Ken (Interchanges with me on Frederick Md Sub)

I see that you are located in Baltimore. Does this mean you are to my "East" and have access to shipping by Port?

Will you consider Imports from Fergie and GDRMCo as Bridge traffic both ways?
Do you have Spices either as a Mc Cormick supplier or import on your railroad?
Do you have a source of sugar?

I offer traffic to and from bay packing houses due to demand outstripping truck traffic. Are you able to accept the additional traffic? I dont know exactly how many cars yet but should by Monday night.

I figure that Gold is going to go somewhere and become useful.. Electronic parts? Coin? Hmm.. I gotta figure out who wants the resulting commodity.

*****

What additional business can I offer?

I see a potential for LCL and express to all parties...

************************************
************************************

This closes Falls Valley Railroad's work for the pages 1, 2 of this thread. Any additional resulting business contracts will be processed this week for next week's traffic.

Also:

Interchange traffic is handled on a specific day of week.. example:

Wheeling WVa is set out and ready by Midnight of Sunday of every week, expects to have inbounds by Noon Monday

Harrisburg PA is set out and ready by Midnight Monday of every week, expects to have inbounds by Noon Tuesday

Manassas Va is set out and ready by Midnight Tuesday of every week, Expects to have inbounds by Noon Wedensday

Frederick Md Sub is serviced every day with set outs by Midnight and expects inbounds by Noon following day.

Confused yet???

Once I get skill in managing virtual trains I will be staggering interchanges with own trains daily.. but first things first....

Please post any corrections this upcoming week in following pages so I may address them on a case by case basis.

I think and HOPE my format is acceptable to all... it is very difficult to produce a traffic report in this particular situation but can learn if others have a better method.

after noon all

FERGIE ; glad you brought up locations of every body
I'm in east central ILL. along I-70. The YSL is a short line connecting to , the PENNSY, NYG, and IC. There is also trackage rights to the Milwaukee Road on our line. Most shipments north will be on the IC or MRR. east or west will be Pennsy or NYG to other lines
Should give ya'll an idea of where i be.

LUCT ; The feed will be ship out next day after arrivial of the beet pulp. Email me as to what your interested in [cattle, hog and ect.].

NOAH ; the plastic yours. If you have a soy bean processor in your area. You might check on soy bean meal for the trip down. Save an emtpy trip and i could use it. Course we'll have to clean the cars out good both ways

RT ; I think i can get rid of of some swiss cheese and eggs through a grocery warehouse, have to let you know tomorrow.
Setting good on Rum right now, but could use a tanker of eggnog a week, cow are getting tired here. I don't have any thing food grade for the return though. May also need some milk to help give the cows a break.

Let me take some time to process the latest on this thread and develop a war sheet on the railroad.

Fergie raised a good idea to indicate geographical coverage of the virtual interchanges.

Here is mine:

All traffic to and from the west coast via Wheeling Wva
All traffic to and from Great Lakes via Harrisburg PA
All traffic to and from the south (Fla to Tx) via Manassas VA

East coast ports and NE to Maine including Ontario Canada is via Frederick Md Sub that connects with the B&O

My headquarters and majority of industries can be considered to be centered near what is Hagerstown Md in real life.

Hope this helps

I'll submit a post tonight for tomorrow's traffic which will include some shipping offers that has generated over the weekend. Hopefully I will be able to fill a 5 day work week with everyone here.

I wonder which railroad can access my interchanges for purposes of traffic planning?

If we understood who interchanges with who and where I think all involved will have a much easier time with this project.

For all of you busy shippers, the ARK is located in Wisconsin, near Green Bay.

Counterweight,
You have two gravel loads per week on contract. They will be shipped in 50’ gondolas, hopefully starting Monday, as soon as the quarry opens back up from the Holiday.

I also appreciate the Newsprint. 2 cars a week sounds fine.

Paul,
I appreciate the DS&SE’s offer. If we can get Fergie to ship the coal to ports, and then we can ship the coal down from Duluth to Green Bay. I’ll have it picked up at the Green Bay and Western interchange in Appleton as soon as the shipments arrive. Remember, three cars a week. Two on Monday, one on Wednesday. And not to cut into your Business either Paul, but if you want to send the Load of Ore for Ken via the ARK, we can have it delivered within about three days. Let me know what you think.

A note to all, if anyone needs a connection to the Lake Superior Docks of Paul’s Duluth, Superior & South Eastern, the ARK and WSOR are here to bridge Traffic from Chicago to Duluth, via the SOO.

Also, I realized that I forgot to mention the Grain Shipper on the ARK, shiping out about 5 cars a week in summer, and around 10 a week around harvest time. If anyone needs Wisconsin grown Corn or Soybeans, let me know.

Inch. I’ll take you up the covered hopper/recycled plastic pellet deal. The WSOR has a couple of covered hoppers dedicated for this service, we will send two of them down to be filled every week, and you can send them back up.

Wow, I’ve got to go start a spread sheet to remember what I’m shipping!

Inch we can handle that on the rum but if your interested we also have just been contacted by J.D. farms they say there having an overload of fresh eggs , milk products ( including cream, eggnog, milk, and cheese) if you all need anything like that they say they can produce 1,000,000 dozen eggs a week (boy thats a lot of laying) cheese (mainly American and swiss) up to 500,000 lbs a week, eggnog aprox 3 tank cars a week till mid jan then they cut back as the need drops to almost nile but if ordered will produce but need at least 9 day notice.

We now have a need for one cover hopper of ground or two boxcar of stick type cinnamon a week as we have developed a need for it. .

We also found out for those interested

We can ship out baked goods in refrigerated cars
cakes
pies
breads
partial baked items also like
breads
doughnuts
were looking into some other items here while we at it

we need
Flour
sugar
special size boxes
wax covered milk type cartons

Will inform of other needs also in near future

Guys Any chance, without invading peoples privacy, of getting at the very least a geographical location such as State, Province or something along the lines of the nearest major junction?

Just a thought

Sierrarr: I can provide the following:

Coal 4 loads/day
Iron Ore 10/day

Luct : consider it done

Bukwrm: The Maple Syrop is yours but this years shipment maybe already fermenting as it's been in the sun all summer, are you still interested? Will confirm specific gravity and other specs prior to drawing up manifest.

Sunset Beacery: I have a local boat builder who maybe interested in supplying hulls. What size are we talking?

Afternoon Gents -
Being the President and CEO of the CNY Railway Corp, I have a great working relationship with some of the local compaines that my railroad serves. My road also does alot of switching and moves for the local Class 1 (CSX) at their DeWitt NY Yard. I do know that I can offer any of you surcharge-free switching and handling within my area and possibly further (providing that my trackage agreements come back completed) from NYS&W and FGLK. We also take care of inbound and outbound cars in co-operation with CN via the Montreal Secondary that runs from Syracuse to Montreal via Watertown and Massena NY.
Being a Sunday, I can't get you any requests for inbound goods as my crew did not get any this past week due to the holiday. As for outbound goods from my customers, give me a few days as all customers are closed till tomorrow morning.
Any questions, please let me know.
Thanks!

No, open-top hoppers work just as well, if you got 'em - the same type that carry coal.

GDRMCO - There are plenty of auto racks on the Iron Belt to handle incoming shipments of your automobiles. I can send you all the "finished metal" (coiled steel) your customers need.

Our brew and wines are generally shipped in glass bottles (the beers are a German/Alpine flavored variety), so our suppliers prefer to stick with German tradition and use the glass. However, steel cans would be useful to Nora Mill for their new product "Canned Bread, the best thing since sliced."

We are not set up for Pullman servicing on our shortline, they would have to stop at Gainesville and board the local headed to Helen.

Grain arriving inbound is sent to the mill and shipped out on the same car (whenever possible). Nora Mill grinds to order, so any grain sent in can custom ground to your specs.

1 carload of wine & brew is now awaiting pickup on the interchange track.

Pulpwood (logs and chips) is available for pickup whenever anyone needs it.

We have available over 800 55 ton open hoppers for coal, gold, and copper ore shipments. Gold shipments are escorted by our armored Pullman until picked up by interchange crew. The armored Pullman is available for lease, but security staffing is not provided.

Our antique car supplier also provides scrap metal and crushed cars, Heaven only knows what he's got backed up in the woods.

We have 2 loads of expanded foam insulation awaiting orders and more piling up, this can be cut to size by shipper prior to shipment. Useful for dock floats, building, warehouse, or cooler insulation, or soundproofing material.

We also have an asbestos mine on line, they are awaiting any orders. A steam locomotive rebuilder on our sister line is currently their biggest customer.

Kubota has tractors and mowers piling up, about 50 carloads per week. We are setting up a drop shipping system of distribution for them, we anticipate heavy traffic and would like to ship either direct to dealers or offer team track service to other dealers.

BTW, as a side note, Nora Mill is a real location, just south of Helen, GA, still in business to this day. The GNW ran right past it on the opposite side of the river. The RR went under in the '30's, but in my version of history, the Southern Railway bought up the shortline and kept it going.

The CG&P did not survive the Great Depression by being shy about new business practices. Even thought our tracks don't serve some of Cincinnati's larger companies we contacted them about there shipping needs and now the Cincinnati, Georgetown & Portsmouth Railroad Logistics division is assisting several Cincinnati companies in locating product.

Fergmiester
Kroger would like 2 cars of your great Nova Scotia sea food delivered to their distribution center every Thursday.
Christian Morline Brewing would like 10,000 gallons of maple syrup for a specialty brew. If it sells well it could become and annual event.
Castallini Produce feels confident that they can supply 3 express reefers of mixed produce each week. More should be available as they build there supplies.

Counter Weight
Castallini Produce would be interested in a carload of Celery every week if it is available.
Kroger would like one car of frozen seafood for Monday deliveries.
Kahn's Meats can supply you with 6 car loads of pork / beef each week.
Cincinnati Milling Machine will be happy to supply any production machinery you might need.
Shoes, pallets, cans and biscuits are in route.

rtraincollector
Could you use some wheat for your vodka plant?

Brad
If your brewery uses any metal cans Cincinnati Can Corporation would be happy to supply them.
Kroger would like 1 car per week of your wine and microbrews. We love the local products but like to try foreign drinks too.

inch53
Kahn's Meats would like your car loads of beef / pork on the hoof each week.

luct
Kroger would like 2 car loads of suger in 5 and 10 pound bags.
National Biscuit Company would like 3 car loads per week in bulk. This order could increase.

Noah
The Cincinnati Post receives 2 car loads of newsprint a week. Can we get a good price?

sierrarr
Castallini Produce can take 6 car loads of produce per week shipped express reefer.
National Biscuit Company would like 2 tankers of molasses a week and 5 loads of bakers chocolate.

KenLarson
My little quarry will have to ramp up production some to make that order but is is doable and we are in the process of making it so. ( I have been working on a final plan for my "Dream Layout" and this quarry which really existed at the time my railroad did is on the layout but I never really knew what they would ship except cut stone for construction. You just gave me a reason to run a 20 car unit train every day. You would need it pulverized in covered hoppers?)

KEN ; CW is bridging the scrap to FERGIE, i think. The boys are trying for some clean oil field scrap, pipes, pump jacks and tanks. If they get them, you can have them. Maybe 2 loads a week it looks like for bout 3 months. also working on a deal for crushed cars, can you use that

CW ; Corn should be in season, it is here. So go ahead

first thing tomorrow, i'm making a list of who has what and who needs what. Need a better score card

Fergie - sounds like a plan, I'm ready for those coal loads!

Paul - if you want to send a laker full of ore in my direction, I'm still stockpiling for winter. Or have all your vessels been laid-up for the season?

Bukwm - My steel mill can use some of your limestone, 20 carloads/day to be exact

CW - do you ship refractory-grade brick? I need at least 1 boxcar-load/week to reline my ladles...

Inch - since CW has already claimed your weekly scrap metal supply, guess I'll have to keep searching for that commodity

. . .
Here's what the Iron Belt exports [so far]:

Steel coils - 20 cars/day
Crushed slag (for ballast, road paving etc.) - 15 hoppers/day
Tar - 2 tanks/week
Benzol - 1 tank/week

Toodles!

sierrarr,

I will like 8 loads of your produce per week. I can ship Atlantic

Seafood to you in the reefers if you like or route them west to another railroad that has lobsters to load. Either empty or as ice loads.

One boxcar of paint and clothing each, I will have to find something to ship back to you in these two boxcars.

I can use some of your petrochemicals, I have 5 8,000 gallon tank cars for them just need to find loads going west.

Inch53,

I can break corn to ship when in season since we have not figured out season I will say one round trip of that lime hopper

will result in a hold over or routing to another railroad of your choice. But do it fast, per deim charges pile up LOL.

GDRMCo

We can use your autos.

I probably can send you finished metal products.

Inch53,

Will do! Do you require anything going back to you in that

Covered Hopper after the lime is unloaded?

How about merchandise or something else in the boxcars

besides Rum?

Fergie,

Make that 6 carloads of scrap heading your way thanks to

Inch53's 2 car contribution.

So far so good.

The score card?

I just have a notepad on the hard disk related to my railroad. Once a industry is satisfied inbound and out.. I mark it off on the print out.

The really hairy part is dealing with all the virtual trains, for example my coal turn is already at capacity with all the loads going off line and will need to run a second turn during the week to handle domestic needs.

Worst case scenario I either get it off a different railroad and bridge it or some other line will get the coal business. =)

Ken: We can supply iron ore in several types and grades. The DS&SE can also custom mix on the dock for your particular needs.

Noah: Not to cut into Fergies business, MUCH, but the DS&SE can ship coal at a considerable savings from our dock, since it moves most of the way by lake carrier.

Fergie: You can ship that coal by cannaler to our dock and trans ship by rail. We'll work something out.

Our dock can also handle package frieght and and bulk cargo. There is lifting capicity to 50 tons for machinary. Connections are made with railroads in Duluth- Superior, Marquete Mich. and several other places south.

Give the Duluth Superior & Southeastern for all your shipping needs.

Fergie,

Foundry sand 3 car loads/week
I also can use that Maple syrup when ready by LCL
I'll make 6 boxcars availible for the Maritime cargo per week, They probably will be full of Rum and spirits unless you can think of other cargo inbound to you.

I can give you 4 loads scrap a week, and bridge more from other railroads in this thread.

How many sleepers do you require?

Also, are you willing to accept bridge traffic other wise listed in this post? At this point:

2 carloads Scrap from Inch53

and Masonjar's Europe traffic not yet specified how many etc...

spirits and rum is availible.

Luct,

2 carloads of lumber
4 carloads of coal

Inch53,

Electronics parts 2 carload in exchange for reloading your marine chargers.
2 carloads of lumber
2 boxcars of bottled rum
2 carloads of coal

I will accept 2 carloads of scrap metal for bridge to Fergie
We will reload those lumber boxcars with pallets
ag lime one CV hopper a week is useful

Twocenterprises,

We can run sleepers south to you by pullman contract how many do you need?
The distillery can give you empty glass bottles, 2 carloads a week.

We would like to use your coal to assist in filling orders listed elsewhere here.
Cotton will be useful for mills

Regarding your gold, we can turn this into a exercise for the military in a special train but dont have anything armored at the moment. Im thinking of burying that armored pullman of yours in a troop train should you be able to supply the GI's

Bukwrm,

Express and LCL is availible (1 express, 2 LCL twice a week)
We would like to take shoes, pallets, cans and biscuts.

We can send

Coal
Chemical via bridge
Steel coil (1-2 per week)
Excess shipping inventory can be sent to you for your Tug works I think 1 car a

week for now

rttraincollector,

We can bridge vodka by shipping and provide gin.

Masonjar,

How many sleepers do you need?
We will take grain at 4 loads a week
We can bridge your Europe traffic if needed.

Coal at 2 carloads a week
Ice at one load per week

Noah Hofrichter,

I would like to take your gravel at 2 carloads a week

I can provide 3 carloads of coal
2 boxcars of paper from excess inbound newsprint
