My son and I are BNSF fans. He likes the ornage and green scheme (H! and H2 I think). I'm partial to the orange/green also, but I do like the new logo.

In the fallen flags category, my #1 road is the NYNH&H, in contemporary railroading. . .BNSF.
My wife and I were in Kansas City, MO and KS last month. Being in the RR industry, I called BNSF security in Ft. Worth to obtain permission to visit Argentine Yard.
They were wonderful; while I was told I could not go on the property, they "assigned" a security officer to us who gave us a tour and photo ops off the property. Kudos to BNSF Ry for excellent PR.

The only good paint scheme on BNSF is the red and silver warbonnet or the blue and yellow unpatched.

Of course I model the Santa Fe in 1989 on three decks of railroad and have little love for the BN with BNSF not even a gleam in the future.

My wife gave me for Christmas three years ago 40 shares of BNSF stock. I have found out that with that little bit of ownership, they will give me all the information I desire on BNSF paints and trackage information (SHOCK SHOCK). The annual reports are very fun to read and study. The local switching crews are friendlier since they found out I own shares.
My layout is freelance with connections to ATSF (set before the BN and ATSF merger) and UP.
I feel that the BNSF should honor the old roads with their paint designs and not just wipe them out. The new stuff looks like UP just different colors!

BNSF is awesome but atm im modeling the 50's because of space restrictions maybe down the track i will move back to the modern era, with my beloved Genesis SD75Ms and C-449Ws. just a question, are all the BNSF SD75s Painted in the Warbonnet still or have any been repainted into a heritage paint?

In the evenings threads whiz by.

BNSF is the closest I have really gotten to Freight trains.I was given a tour of the Northtown Yard Engine Shops in Minneapolis. The best part was they gave me an authentic BNSF hard hat, and I am grateful for that wonderful experience.

i have some new names if BNSF decides to merge with another railroad-
merge w/ Norfolk Southern-Burlington Norfolk Santa Fe
merge w/ Canadian National-Burlington National Santa Fe
merge w/ Chicago & Northwestern-Burlington Northwestern Santa Fe (that won't happen cause C&NW went into the big yellow sponge in 1995)but i'm considering merging my rr(BNSF)w/ C&NW

LOL. Your darn right there. I WILL defend the true name of the BNSF Railway. It make me mad when they call it that stupid retarded swoosh crap. I mean as much as I hate that ugly Union Pacific sponge. They don't here me calling the UP names now do they? I hear that some clown at Trains.com started that. And by the way dingoix. I like your Photo of the BNSF C40-8W. Very nice. Allan.

MY main RR is BN, with SF and UP interchanges. I like the BNSF colors but am sticking with the pre merger focus. For a change of pace I go for my local RR's MEC, B&M, and BAR.

I agree that BNSF is what it's all about. I've watch then climb the passes of Montana on the old BN line and now I'm back to watching them concure the Cajon Pass where infact I've seen a few Power bar ES4400's. Have you guys seen the Bluebonnett ES that Tower55 is putting out?

i think you mean AC4400- the ES44's were introduced by GE in 2005 so a bluebonnet wouln't be prototypical- but the AC4400 was produced from 1993-2004 so there could be a bonnet- but it wouldn't be blue- in 1989 Santa Fe revived the red/silver warbonnet - the blue one would not be painted on anything after 1989- hope that made sense

Dude, thank you very much. Maybe living in Los Angeles you couldn't tell that I knew all of that. I've watch Santa Fe all 29 years of my life. Maybe you should go to the Tower 55 website and see what the hell I'm talking about.

Here is my story. I grew up along the MoPac Missouri Mule line in West Central Missouri and I followed and modeled that road for several years. This was somewhat painful as I have no great love of the UP as many have expressed above. In 1996 I moved to Carrollton, MO where I got my first real look at BNSF as a busy main runs through town between Kansas City and Chicago. I had no real connection to BN, SF, or any other predacessors of the road, but I immediately fell in love with the paint scheme. in 2000 I moved to north Fort Worth, TX and drove every day through Saginaw along BNSF's main (Wichita Falls sub) and knew immediately this town begged to be modeled. When I moved back home to Missouri in 2003 I decided to make the switch to model the Wichita Falls sub of BNSF in Summer, 2000. Now there is no turning back.

By the way, I love Herigate I and II, but I am not partial to H3 yet at all. Give me some time--10 years or so--and I will probably get used to it.

BNSF does loan a lot of power to NS- i think they are the only RR still running B-units-here are a few BNSF pics i found on the internet
a "kodachrome" today is a VERY rare sight i'd think this is about the only one

I'm pretty sure this one came from a paint program but maybe not.

BNSF loco's stored at a yard in Minnesota (you really need to "click to enlarge" to get the effect of this one)
