It's actually weathered on one side, clean on the other. The layout it will run on offers only one side of the car for view at any time so painting it this way allows it to represent two different cars by turning at around on the track.
Some recent work - the PRR hopper and IC boxcar are factory lettered, as is the CPR reefer, which was modified somewhat, while the CNR gondola was done with the Westerfield decals. All others are C-D-S dry transfers, with re-weigh and re-pack data from Champ.

Well, My entry is not weathered, but it is kinda weathered around the windows with real dirt that I used to mask the windows. (Hey, it worked!)

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Its alive!!!! Well I thought I would dust this topic off, and add some new cars/engine.
Here are a couple recent trys at some weathering.
The fist is an AHM remotored plymoth diesel swithcer weatherd whith chaulk
A bachmann 70 ton weatherd with dry brush acrylic paint
A round house rs-3 weatherd with chaulk and drybrush acrylic and some black wash was also applied
A couple of riv 0-8-0 weathered with chaulk
alco's forever!!!!! Majoring in HO scale Minorig in O scale:)
now i need to learn to take better pictures i guess
first attempt at trying to weather. by no means equal to the work here.
