I had an article published in Model Railroading [September 2002] describing my kitbash of a Sylvan Great Lakes ore boat.

I've been published in MR and Railmodel Journal. My most recent article on my layout was the June 2005 issue of RMJ, and MR currently has material from me and we're discussing it and possibly more material to come.

I was also published in the January and February 1997 MR, the March 2000 MR, and the September 1993 RMJ.

Finally, Model-trains-video.com is distributing a Model RR video series on DVD done by me. The series essentially covers from "Dream to Reality" on doing a large model RR layout, featuring my HO Siskiyou Line as an example.

To those who've been published, doesn't MR sometimes go to the layout to take the photos?

Doesn't MR staff write up the articles sometimes?

Same here, my letter to the editor of our local paper is my only published work, it was trains related though [tup] about the city wanting to tear up a in use rail line for of all things... a trail.

You'd have to put something into it yourself! If you have a layout that may be puboishable, send some material to MR and ask what they think. I don't think they go cruising the streets and stopping radomly, looking for layouts to select.

Most material in MR and other magazines is submitted by owners or others. I've had several articles published on friend's layouts that I've photographed. They will tell you that the photos are the biggest requirement for an article. If the writing isn't up to their standards, they can fix it. But photos they cannot fix.

Worth a try anyway!

I was published in MR some years ago, but it wasn't a layout feature - it was a virtu-real reality concept piece called "Beyond Railscope."

I told my girlfreind that is how I will make back all that money I spent, getting published and get the money back [;)] I don't think she bought that reason for all those cars.

Your website is the reason Bob I thought I would ask, BTW your tutorial was excellent. [bow][tup]

Just curious how many forum members on the forums have had their layouts published in a model train mag, MR, RMC, etc?

I see so many layouts posted here that I feel rival some if not most of the stuff I have seen in the "Paper Press"
