Here's another angle of the switcher at Cherokee Station.

F3 powered coal drag begins it's descent to the Joint Line bound for Martin-Drake in Colorado Springs.

And one of my favs of an empty headed back to Platte Canyon for another load from Cherokee Station, led by GP30's.

Great shots everyone!
grande, that little switcher is cool, I got two myself, one repainted for CNR and waiting for that re-gear kit to be installed.
Bob, so it was you responsible for clear-cutting the redwoods! Excellent painting on the stumps, It's hard to believe that they are resin.

Haven't accomplished much on the layout in the last couple of weeks (My Mom passed away and obligitory family gatherings and all that is involved with that. She was 88 by the way and her passing was expected but still hard). Anyway, the Ice house now has the ramp to get the "ice" into the building and a bit more lawn and scenery.

Probably 75% done with the project at this point. Hopefully by fall it will take its place on the layout.

Great photos from everyone by the way.

Uhh... Tbat55 that last pic wouldn't be route 14 north where the Lehigh used to run would it? I love the old bridge crossings over the canal every time I take the back road to Seneca Falls.

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Too bad about your Mom, Ray. Sad to lose the one who cared for you so much.

That ice plant would have made her proud.[tup]

GrandeMan--do you spy another D&RGW fanatic here besides us? Someone named MidniteFlyer who takes neat pictures and that we should welcome warmly into the fold?

howmus,
Yes, Rt 14, unbelievable how much work was done.

Here's the Waterloo bridge from the road

It's a deep fishing point around (see empty in winter)

close-up, note no bridge shoes and pier caps

SF bridge built 1914 by Lehigh Vy. New railings added last year, note how ends point upward

Here's my projects over the last week or so:

This is a Tyco GP-20 shell with some modifications on an Athearn frame. I've finished the base coat of yellow and will be decaling it some time soon.

My short line must have maintenance vehicles! I made the hi-rail truck from a Magnuson kit and the fuel truck from a cheap plastic toy. It looks they are working late in the evening from all the shadows and the slanted sun rays.

Number 102, a GP-60, received a can motor, NWSL wheels, and Ernst slow speed gearing this week. I'm in the process of breaking in the gears right now.

I also went railfanning, but that's a different topic to post. Have a great weekend!

Here are some new pics in our photo album.

A southbound train crew awaits train orders as a northbound freight whizzes by.

A southbound mixed freight approaches Sedalia,Colo. Back to the left is where the Platte Canyon Spur breaks from the Joint Line.

In my topic where anyone could post photos of super detailed engines, everyone pointed out that the pictures of my DASH 9 were too dark. So here's a picture of it with the flash.[:)]

Everything but the snowplow, cut levers and windows were done from scratch.[:D]

There may be a setting on your camera that controls for light - the setting compensate for low light conditions. Also it looks like you may need to use the macro mode - with the camera closer to the engine to pick up the details you want us to see.

Aside from that you should consider using a spotlight to light the "shadowed" side - in this case the spotlight might point so that is perpendicular (straight toward) to the side of the engine. A clip on spot light can be mounted to your camera tripod and angled at your subject - to better light the shadow.

A white backbround such as a cloth or white paper lined shadow box (which can be made with just a carton) would be good too. See photo - taken showing some of the techniques discussed.

Good Luck
