I agree with Ed. I think it would be petty to not add him to the RIP track. Even if he didn't post on the forums, his name was invoked many, many times. Winter came back last night with 5" of the white stuff. A mild 35F today but the temp plunges to 3 tomorrow and -18 at night. Glad I did a grocery run yesterday.

Brent, what year is the Bimmer? Be prepared for high maintenance costs. An oil change on my Volvo is $250 and expect more for a Bimmer. Nice car though. Our vet had one and he really liked it. His was a rare 5 spd manual as he liked shifting.
Hope to get Ian Wilson's latest book in a couple of weeks. He says it will be the last one he will do. They are very well done for anyone interested in steam in Ontario. I have them all.

We just got back from another grandkids visit. It's easier for us to go to them than for them to come to us. All three boys are on basketball teams, and it seems like their BB season lasts 51 weeks.
Some of you have commented on buying a car online. I'm too old -- I still want to kick the tires. We'll be visiting a few lots to get an idea of what my wife wants. She'll be looking for what she wants -- I'll be looking for something that won't wipe out the retirement funds.
For our two diner questions:
1. Anywhere the diner lands is fine with me. I'll second Brent's suggestion of the trains in the Sierra Mountains.
2. I guess I always thought the RIP track was for former Diner patrons. Whichever way it goes, it certainly doesn't matter to me.
Mike, I hope everything goes OK with your daughter. All of us with children sure know how things like this worry you.
David, I also hope the doctors are able to get to the bottom about your health issues.

Have to get in touch with HR today as I did my taxes over the weekend. That was unpleasant. Have to get more held out of my paycheck. This year hurt!
Speaking of hurt, my oldest is in Belize for a study abroad trip over her spring break. She was having pain in her side for a few days prior to leaving. At the last minute she went to urgent care and was diagnosed with an infection in her rib cartilage, but was cleared to travel. The professors involved with the trip were not pleased to hear about her situation, but did not bar her from going. Their in country guide's wife is a nurse so they made her get in touch with her as soon as they got to their destination. The nurse is not happy she was cleared to travel and has been keeping in contact with my daughter throughout the day each day she is there. Has us really concerned, but the only thing to do at this point is pray and be ready to head to Belize should this turn into something more serious. Poor kid just seems to have one thing after another going on.
BATMANI still have all my son's R/C stuff. He has an R/C hovercraft that I like to play with as you can run it off the land into the lake and rip around on the water with it. I have a small drone I like to fly around the backyard when out on the patio with a drink at the end of the day. I used to torment the dogs with it but now they just look at me with that face that says, "really!"

Good soggy Sunday morning to all.
I am fine with wherever the Diner ends up. A location or a theme is OK with me though I think a theme gets more participation from a larger number of diners over a location. The high Sierra is always a favourite as I love mountain railroading.
We lost a dear friend last week, an amazing man. He used to quietly tell me that Pediatric medicine lost a brilliant mind when my wife chose Veterinary medicine. He was hilarious and understood my sense of humour which made for enjoyable times. We feel an emptiness with him gone.
I had mentioned earlier that Grandpa wanted to see our kids so we had them all over for dinner. He ended up giving his mint BMW 530I to my daughter and a five-figure cheque to my son for their upcoming honeymoon. I have taken the BMW out twice for rips and that thing moves. I had it North of 200kph at the touch of the gas pedal. We were just about to buy my daughter a vehicle for a grad present so will put that money aside for her. She can buy a vehicle down the road or use it to help her buy a home.

Sometimes I think that the best time of the year is when February is over! I guess if you live in southern climes that might not make much of a difference to you, but for those of us in the North, it gives us a sense of relief that warmer weather is just around the corner.
The end of the month also means that we have to move the Diner, so where do you want to go? Over the last few months we have gotten away from our older practice of parking the Diner in one location and then studying the local railroading points of interest. We could go back to that if somebody wants to choose a location, or we could continue to attach the Diner to various trains. Other suggestions are most welcome too.

These are just a couple of examples. I believe that the 1/87 scale RC vehicles are more popular in Europe so you might want to do some exploring there.

I have a friend who has been trying to get me into RC trucks lately. He was a model railroader (actually more of a toy train guy), but doesn't have room in his current house. I've been trying to get him into a smaller scale so he can do something and he responded with this. He's closer to winning than I am. I've thought about getting an RC vehicle of some sort again for years. I won't put the money into it he has though. I've got a layout to play with!
