Good morning Diners. A coffee on the go please, Chloe.
Short and sweet message as I keep getting 'timed out ' and don't have the time.
Well done TF.
Those with challenges: hopefully all will be resolved soon.
Try again later.

York1 TF, that looks like a great job with the cabinets. Have fun with your nephew working on the floor.

Thanks John.
We're going to hit it hard on Wednesday, and have the floor done by Thursday, early after noon, when she gets here, driving down from Bismarck for a look.
Cabinets and the floor are the bigger part of the job, I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, and feeling mighty good by cranky
TF
Water Level Route TF, the cabinets look great! Fine work. Good for you for getting the nephew involved with the floor too. I've got a nephew who sounds similar to yours. Keeping them involved with stuff like that is important. Being a good role model and showing them a better way to be is immeasurably important.

Thanks Mike, my phones not working well connecting to the Forum here lately, the site flanks and flutters up and down and than the page is lost.
Is why I've not been posting to the Have You Found Any Good Goodies For Yourself Lately thread, cuz my Imgure hasn't been working right here either.
My nephew was just a delight today, and we got half the floor done. That Kid ROCKS! I'm so proud of him.
Thanks Mike, your much appreciated here.
PS. That took about 25 minutes to post, but I'll hang in here till the wheels fall off, as Peter said...
Good morning, diners. Bacon, eggs, and coffee, Chloe.
On the other forum, some posters mentioned the movie White Christmas. We just got back from visiting our granddaughters. They had watched the movie, and we all went to the museum to see some of the movie costumes. Some of the dresses are not the vivid technicolor seen in the movie, but still fun to see:
Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye uniforms:
Dean Jagger uniform:
Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen dresses and fan:
The granddaughters loved the display. Now if I had taken my grandsons, maybe it wouldn't have worked out as well.
I should have some layout time today. I've finally gotten some trains running after I completed the track re-routing. Everything seemed to go well, but I still have to add one more set of power feeders to the new track.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good Morning Diners. Chloe, a bowl of frosted flakes please.
Anybody else notice the Rapido add for the Christmas mystery box? I hope they have success with it. I think it's a great idea. Aside from the obvious use by family members, the thought hit me how much fun it would be for someone that didn't have anyone. The idea that you could conceivably get yourself a gift that you are almost certain to like and have no idea what it is until you open it Christmas morning is wonderful. Good for them.
6 days left. Better get your shopping done.

Good morning! Third grade elementary students lined up for a ride to Frankfort IN at the Tipton IN NKP depot circa 1949.
My nephew Derek is coming over tomorrow morning to help me put the plank floor down. Just love that Kid. He's had some problems, but when there's a problem, family sticks by. We're going to have a great time laying that floor tomorrow.
And the next day, and the day after that.
He's sure gonna make things much easier on the old guy
This video doesn't contain any trains but it certainly evokes the Christmas spirit. The scene was created by our massage therapist, Brenda Scott, using scenery construction methods from a model railroading book which I gave her. I personally think that the mountains are particularly well done. they are three feet high but only six inches deep. The scene is intended to be whimsical as opposed to realistic.
She and a friend did the vocals and the arrangements were done by Dr. John Brown, Brenda's husband. Eventually she plans on incorporating a train into the scene.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Thanks Dave, you're good people and appreciated
The cabinets look great TF!
Evening
Haven't had much of a easy time posting from my phone lately, but appreciate you guys, and your involvement here as well.
Got done with my cabinets on Sunday.
Now time for that Killing Floor
Good evening Diners. A glass of Irn Bru please, Brunhilda.
Had a dear friend from Texas visiting us today. Made some cinnamon rolls for her visit (along with other food). She has just left and is seeing members of her family.
Younger granddaughter is here now. On other visits she has been asking for pasta to be made for her dinner. I was going to make pasta today, but she asked, "Can she have cottage pie instead?" A busy day in the kitchen.
MisterBeasley On a brighter note, our cat Snowflake is feeling better. She had an off day yesterday, and didn’t eat anything until I brought a bowl of food upstairs to her at night. She's still a bit sluggish, but she got up this morning, laid in the sun for a while and came down for breakfast. She's only 4, so she's still a young lady, so no old cat problems for her yet.

Well, tis the season for football and star players getting carted off with leg injuries, but, how does a cat tear her ACL? Like, was she playing for the Jets or something?
Out of an abundance of caution, we took her to the vet and that was the diagnosis. It will heal by itself in a few weeks.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good Morning Diners. Flo, coffee and toast please.
Got down in the basement last night for about an hour to do nothing but run trains. It was great! Had a couple hiccups with some dirty track/wheels, but otherwise everything ran well. Not bad for what little I've been able to run it in about the last 8 months or so.
My youngest got me a gift certificate for M.B. Klein's yesterday too. Supposed to be for Christmas, but apparently their ordering system doesn't allow for a printed certificate to be given to a recipient, nor will it delay delivery of the gift certificate email. Consequently, my wife announced that it will be the last time she buys me one. I get her point though. It's supposed to be for Christmas. I placed my order yesterday and it appears if all goes as they claim, my things will be in by Christmas. I told my daughter if they come in, I will give them to her to wrap up and put under the tree. That helped, as she was bummed that I got the email basically immediately. The email sure looked like something that could have been sent to her to print off though, so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe next time I need to order from there, I'll buy myself a gift certificate to see what the process looks like.

Neat bridge.
Nothing better than a dependable plane, which I'm confident you'll have when your finished, and all your time put in will be well worth the effort. Nothing better than a good sence of accomplishment after some hard work
Speaking of which, I'm gonna have to finish those cabinets down the hall today. My plank floor is being delivered some time tomorrow, ...Yikes!, a good thing my nephew agreed to help me out with that one
Enjoy your Sunday y'all
PS A fine looking gentlemen, your Grandfather and the bridge crew Bill. Thanks for that classic black and white. A picture is worth more than a thousand words.

Water Level Route Then, oh joy of days, my NCE system appeared on the doorstep! I was still waiting for a call from them to tell me how much I owed for the repairs, so I never expected this! The paperwork inside said they found a bad connector inside the base station, a cold solder joint inside the base station, and a cold solder joint inside the throttle. It's a wonder it worked for the nine years I've had it! Hooked it back up and so far so good!

All this talk of back bacon makes me think of this song. Starts at about the 1:25 mark.
Howdy diners. Zoe, just a mug of hot cocoa please.
Rollercoaster day. As some might remember, I have been considering getting a newer truck. Not a need, but my Colorado has a growing list of annoyances and little things that don't work right. Nothing major...at the moment, but given the issues I've had and some of the known issues with this model year, it's always in the back of my mind. I have been looking for what I want for about six months (Not giving up what I have for a compromise. No need for that right now.). I've seen two available in about a 300 mile radius that fit the bill in that time. Missed the first but was okay with it as it wasn't in as good of shape as it should have been for the model year. Someone was rough with it. Missed on the second one today that was basically perfect, including the price. Worst was I missed it by minutes. I called the place that had it to ensure they still did and the salesman grabbed the keys for it and said he would pull it out back for a couple of hours to hold it until I got there. He called me back 6 minutes later. One of the other salesmen had someone there wanting to look at it and they ended up buying it. I was bummed! I do believe things like this happen for a reason though and I don't need a newer vehicle right now, so I can wait.
Probably going to start some of the holiday baking tonight. Doing the rest tomorrow.
Have a good night everyone!
Good Afternoon,
Mr. B, glad your cat is feeling better.
TF reminded me that my mother used to call Canadian bacon, back bacon which is what it is.
Still mild weather here. We have a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Normally there would be at least a foot of the stuff. I have a photo dated Nov/77 of Nazareth (Afghan Hound) standing on top of a snow drift that is about 6' high. That was in NW Ontario but not that far from me now. He did like to look around, not surprising as he ws a sight hound.

By odd coincidence, the GF's friend from Texas sent her some Canadian Bacon for Christmas. I guess I'll have to poach up some eggs, toast some English muffins and make some Hollandaise sauce for breakfast. We haven't had that since our last cruise, just before Covid. On a week-long cruise, I think I had eggs Benedict 5 times.
We haven't felt the need or desire for travel since Covid.
Good morning, diners. Just coffee this morning. We're hitting the road to see a granddaughter for her birthday. I'll check in to the diner on my $30 Walmart phone, but I'm not able to post easily on that thing.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Last Summer the food at Carmine's was excellent, last night not so good. Apparently the good cook wasn't there. Inconsistency isn't a very good thing in the restaurant business, one bad experience is enough for me, as we wont be going back.
Grocery day, on a more positive note, perhaps we'll pick up some fixings for our own Italian dish.
Have a great Saturday
