maxman SeeYou190 Water Level Route I'll also spring to put a platter of these out. Philly cheesesteaks are always a draw. (fingers crossed) I'll take one! Bad for you: Penn Medicine analyzed two south Philly cheese steak restaurants and found that the average cheese steak contained 900 calories, 40 g of fat, 50 g of protein and 80 g of carbohydrate. A 7-inch cheese steak at the Cheese Steak Shop in Philadelphia has 476 calories, 26 g of fat, 10 g of saturated fat, 25 g of protein and 35 g of carbohydrate. Top of the page! How about some dessert to go with the cheesesteaks! Janie, a platter full of these please!

Water Level RouteYou don't make friends with salad.
Hi Mike,
We have a little plaque in our living room that reads "WINE....because no great story ever started with a salad....".
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I like the look of that sundae, Mike. Mind if I order mine with peanuts and make it a Tin Roof?
Here's an answer to the age-old modeler's dilemma of "Why do you have a tunnel when the track can just go on top of the scene?"

Look at that brick work. You don't often see that in tunnel portals.

Philly cheese steak is exactly what we had for dinner tonight. The steaks I cooked yesterday were a bit generous in portion so a little set aside made for a great sandwich today. The Provolone cheese was exceptionally stringy and chewy. Just the way I like it A Guinness helped wash things down

Hi Everyone,
Just dropping in to say hello. "Hello!"
Ed: I really like the pictures ofHarpers Ferry. I always thought that the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers was one of the more picturesque places in the East. Add the B&O tracks and how can you beat that?!
Sometimes I wonder what Lee and his army thought of the beauty there when they crossed to go to Sharpsburg and later Gettysburg. I think they actually crossed the Potomac further up stream.
I won't comment on the news or the media. No point in incurring the wrath of Vinnie. Suffice it to say I'm not a fan and haven't been for several decades.
The storms hitting California have been pretty bad. Some companies have closed shop for awhile till the storm blows over. Unfortunately, this won't do much to relieve the drought there. The ground is so dry that the water just runs off and causes flash floods and mudslides rather than soak into the ground. sad situation.
This is the last week of the regular NFL season. Next comes four (I think) weeks of playoffs then the Super Bowl, which always seemed to me to be anticlimactic. Then, we wait a month for spring training to begin. It's always good when springtime starts to come around.
The wife and I watched the Rose Parade on TV. Say what one will about it, but TV simply can not do the parade justice. That's just one of those events that has to be seen live to be fully appreciated. One thing the cameras never show is the amount of trash along Colorado Blvd after the parade. The clean up crews really have their work cut out for them.

Good morning from the plains. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee, Chloe.
Mike, thanks for the cheesesteaks and the fudge sundae! I'm too old to worry about how good or bad food is for me. It's the time in life to enjoy what I want to enjoy.
Ed, those are neat photos of the tunnel entrances.
up831One thing the cameras never show is the amount of trash along Colorado Blvd after the parade. The clean up crews really have their work cut out for them.
Jim, if you ever go to a Mardi Gras parade, you'd see the same thing. In fact, years ago they used to measure the success of the crowds by how many truckloads of trash they hauled away after the parades.
I've been having laptop issues. I hope things straighten out because I don't like my phone.
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone. Just got out of bed. I slept in for the first time in weeks.
Chloe, I'll have a big breakfast platter please.
hon30critterYou can post anything related to trains, real or modeled, that suits your fancy! This should be a very interesting month!
Today I have a picture of caboose I saw at a museum.

John,
I'm reminded of what Solomon said: "Die with a smile on your face." A proverb that didn't quite make the cut.

Attuvian1Glad you got some sleep, Kevin. Ever figure out what it was that was robbing you?
Are you talking about the security lights activating in the back yard? If so, no, I never did figure it out. I trimmed the foliage away from the cameras and security lights, and then cleaned them up. They have not tripped since, but I have no way of knowing if one thing had anything to do with the other.
I finally got the Orbit controller programmed and wired into the sprinkler system control valves.
The system is going through its very first four-hour full cycle right now. It is currently on zone 5, and everything is working perfectly.
YAY!
How about some vintage Amtrak scenes?

Cheers, Ed

Wow, same here. I remember when the F40-PH locomotives were being written about in the model magazines. I think that was about the time I started reading Model Railroader.
I saw one in a railroad museum I visited. That made me feel old.
SeeYou190It is currently on zone 5, and everything is working perfectly.
I celebrated too soon. Zone five just had a fault and shut down.
Great... now I need to do troubleshooting.
Got the Wordle tonight in less than thirty seconds.
I like it when they solve like that, with no letter in the correct place until the final guess.
Good morning, diners.
SeeYou190Got the Wordle tonight in less than thrity seconds.
You're much better at Wordle than I am. I will sit and stare at the puzzles for a long time. I hate it when I have two guesses left, with only a single letter needed, and I guess wrong both times.
I remember once I had PARE with the last letter needed. I guessed an S, then a D, and the correct letter was R.
I'm headed out the door for a busy day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
York1I remember once I had PARE with the last letter needed. I guessed an S, then a D, and the correct letter was R.
I remember the day "parer" was the word, and I lost that one too. What a stupid word. It was like that puzzle was intended to reset half the user's streaks.
That is why I prefer not to have letters in the right places. When you are just missing one or two, it becomes a guessing game of chance.
Today I have a picture of a simple speeder trailer in a field.
I took that picture in Kansas while travelling in 2017.
Don't forget, the mail has to be delivered....

Returning to model railroading after 40 years and taking unconscionable liberties with the SP&S, Northern Pacific and Great Northern roads in the '40s and '50s.
Good Saturday all. It has been an exhausting couple of weeks. We keep saying next Christmas in Hawaii but it never happens. A few years ago on Dec 21, we said to the kids Hawaii or Disney land after Christmas and they both yelled Hawaii! We were on the plane on Dec 26. For twelve days. That was the best.
I have had my Rapido coaches since Dec 21 and this pic is as close as I have been to them.
They are still in the boxes.
My daughter ordered $5000.00 in computer components and they finished arriving Friday. I am lucky if I can get a computer to turn on when I want it to, but we have been building this thing today and so far so good. Thanks to Youtube. I take her back to Victoria tomorrow for University and she wants it up and running. I never get tired of that ferry trip, hopefully, it will be a wildlife extravaganza.
We lost two friends this month, one was a very good friend of mine I met in 1970. We played a lot of sports together and he was a tremendous athlete. He retired 12 years ago at 55 got married and got fat. He was vacationing in Mesa Arizona and broke his ankle, got covid in the hospital, and died 10 days later due to complications from obesity. I will miss him.
All this talk about security cameras and lights reminds me I have not checked out my new trail cam to see what four-legged hoodlums have been invading the kingdom. Give me a week, maybe I'll have some photos of a sasquatch or something.
There has been a plethora of great photos this month. I like the variety of subject matter.
11 days.
Time for a snort.
All the best to all.
Brent
"All of the world's problems are the result of the difference between how we think and how the world works."
crossthedogI'm always looking for supporting documentation for all the nutty prototype infractions and temporal anomalies I gleefully aid and abet on my pike.
I do the same thing, Matt. I've had a few experts visit my layout and after giving them some leeway and hearing a few "You would never see THAT on a real railroad" I could produce photo evidence of something odd happening at least once.

Today I have a picture of CSX rolling towards Tampa, Florida in 2014.
The sky was at that point about 30 minutes before a thunderstorm when the clouds are amazing.
Mornin' folks!
Don't exactly know what these are. Some kinda diseasally thingies I guess, but thought they might be appreciated by those of you that like those kind of things....
Actually 2304 is a GE B23-7 built as: SOU 4016 back in 1981.
Mornin, goin overseas today, twice. Just getting ready to make our way to the ferry to take my daughter back to Victoria. Normally I just do a drive-by and dump her off and she walks on, then takes the bus on the other side, however, she has so much stuff going back I will take her.
Two of the pups from this litter are going to Europe, one to the Czech Republic. We just found out that the future owner is coming over for a first look at them. She can't take it back until the mutt is four months old due to flying regs on a trip that long. She will come again to take it home at that time.
Time for another cuppa while the women of the house pile up the stuff that goes in the Toyota.
Have a good Sunday all.
BATMAN11 days.
BATMANIT WORKS!
Slightly depressing day in the Water Level Route household. Getting ready to drive my daughter back to college after an extended stay at home for the holiday break. We all fell right back into our old routines quickly and it was so nice having her home. A few more months. Sigh.
Hey, at least the Chiefs secured the top seed in the AFC yesterday! Woohoo!
