BroadwayLion
I cannot walk on the icy suirfaces betweeh here and there.

BroadwayLion
I have a walker, but may need to move to a powered cart before the next eyar is over.

Hi Bro. Elias,

I am in the same boat. My balance and mobility are terrible. I now have to use a cane even for short distances like going from the front door to the car. If I have to walk any distance I need to use my walker. I have a wheelchair but the solid rubber tires are too soft so it is hard to push. I often use it like a walker because it is actually quite comfortable to sit in. I suspect that I will need an electric wheelchair at some point in the future.

I suffer from a lack of exercise, but if I exercise that generates a whole new set of pains in my back and my knees which are even more debilitating. Enough whining!

Fortunately I'm not depressed about my situation. It is what it is.

Good luck with getting the elevator (I mean that in a positive sense). Have you considered chair lifts?

Cheers!!

Dave

Edit!

Top of the page! With all these discussions about pies, we have a pie crisis in our household! I love cherry pies!!! Dianne hates them!!! Her favourite is pecan.

I'm going to suggest a compromise. We will offer you one or the other (or both if you're really have a sweet tooth tonight) along with copious quantities of whipped cream and ice cream!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Good morning

Grocery day as chow choices are becoming slim.  Must first stop by the bank on the way to check out special financing options before taking on this discouraging endeavorHuh?...Laugh

When not enough treats, snacks or ice cream to choose from in the evening, I've been known to become a little bit grumpy.

Where I live we might get a dusting or such.  When it gets too bad here I wait until the neighbor wants to use his monster walk behind snow blower at least at the end of the driveways when the city piles it up several feet.

The cities around here also pile snow in your driveway when they plow. But when I lived in Anchorage, AK the city by ordinance was not allowed to push snow into your driveway, and if they did all you had to do was call and they would send a truck out to remove the snow.

Good morning, diners.  It's a cold morning, but no snow.

It's our 44th anniversary.  Not celebrating other than we are attending a school parent fundraising function-dinner tonight.  Even in retirement, I'm expected to be there.

The good news is they have a bar operating.  The school even gets a cut of the alcohol profits -- so my drinking is actually a donation to the parent group!

Have a great Friday.

Hello everyone,

Back from as great couple of days in Orlando, and did not even go to Walt Disney World!

I have some catching-up to do. I will check in later.

Two passes with the mighty John Deere and the shin-deep monster maple leaves are now dust. Now the dogs can stop complaining when they go out to poop.
Next the front, the neighbour is getting his Christmas lights put up and I am cutting the grass.Laugh

I have a lot of Christmas lights, haven't put them all up in years. When I lived in the suburbs on a regular lot, my house was listed in the paper as one to drive by. When I moved to the sticks and got a big house on acres, they didn't seem to go as far. Laugh
It is almost T-shirt weather. Glad my Dad moved us out from Winnipeg in 1957.

Well....  A deep subject!  Looks like Western NY is gonna get a bit more of the fluffy white stuff off the big lake tonight.  They got hammered in places with over 2' last night and they say another 10 to 20 inches are on the way.  Time to get out the snow shoes and light the BBQ grills I guess.

I heard lots of commotion coming from the kitchen a little while ago. Pots and pans clanging, interspersed with laughter and giggling. What gives?

Turns out Brunhilda, Chloe and Flo brought their sisters to the diner to get some apple pies made up for the holidays!

Holy smokers, Ed, looks like Brunhilda, Flo, and Chloe have been holding out on the single guys that frequent the diner.  Hiding their sisters from our buddies.  What kinda deal is that?  Or, what do they know that we don't?

Good morning Diners.   A large cappuccino pllease, Janie.

Last Wednesday both Dawn and I had Booster Jabs against Covid.  We have been ill ever since?   Jobs around the house are being neglected a little.  Worse still I haven't seen the train room. Crying

Enough of that.

Good morning

Was helping Judy wrap Christmas presents this morning.  We finished our shopping a few weeks ago that we started in JulyLaugh  We like getting it done gradually whenever we're out and about so it's not a chore.  Also nice to avoid the last minute rush and all the commercialism in the stores.

Good Morning, a chilly day here, the windchill was -15F when I put the bird feeders out at 7:30 but it is sunny now. The racoon has stopped his nightly visits but my wife is concerned about avian flu so the feeders are thoroughly cleaned every night.

Dave, is it snowing yet out your way?  I see Owen Sound might get 80 cm. I used to travel there on business and have experienced snow events there. Sorry to hear of your mobility issues. My good friend in Thief River Falls is in the same boat. She had back surgery a year ago that largely stopped the pain but she has trouble with stability. She needs exercise but can't plus needs to lose weight so is in a real catch 22.

No big plans for today other than a run for bird seed. In the past 3 months I have only driven 1k km, about 600 miles. The last fill up lasted 6 weeks.

David, we got the Phizer booster 3 weeks ago. Only felt really sleepy afterwards but my wife still has a sore arm.

Think I'll run the CP Hudson a little today and then back in the display case it goes as I want to run the Northern.

Western, NY forecast:

Today has been cancelled do to some white conditions called Partly Cloudy.  A couple feet of Partly Cloudy has already fallen in the area and in some places about 5 to 11" more of it are expected today.  Best advise is to stay home or do some cross country skiing or snowshoeing in your own back yard.  Do watch out for Thundersnow as it has been observed in that area and may be persistant.

Looks like just another beautiful day in Buffalo, NY..... WinkWinkBig Smile

I love visiting Orlando. Of course, I stopped in at Heavenly Hot Dogs before the show for the best Chicago Dog in Florida.

-Photograph by Kevin Parson

The show was amazing. Hamilton should be on everyone's Must-See List. It was different from any other show I have been to.

The set perfectly complimented the decor in the Dr. Phillips Center. I have not been in Downtown Orlando in a long time, and this was my first show at the Dr. Phillips Center. What a beautiful venue.

The rehablilitation in Downtown Orlando is amazing. The city is absolutely gorgeous. I remember hanging out in O-Town in the 1990s going to Grunge/Punk shown at The Edge. It is all different now.

Good afternoon, everyone.  I'll have some coffee, Chloe.

The past week has been too busy.  I'm trying to make sure I have all the bases covered for a trip I'm taking.  It hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be.

Kevin, that looks like a great time in Orlando.  I was there for a week last year, but I didn't really see Orlando.  I saw the inside of the airport, and I saw the highway from a bus window on the way to Disney.  I don't believe I've ever been downtown.

Brent, enjoy your weather.  It is cold with 20 mph wind on the plains.

David, I hope you and Dawn feel better soon.  Not to make you feel bad, but with two shots and two boosters, I never really felt much.  This year's flu shot made my arm hurt more than the boosters.  Two years ago my wife made me get that series of shingles shots.  Those really knocked me for a loop.

MLC, it's unusual, but Kentucky has had more snow this year than we have had here.  My sister-in-law in Kentucky puts up with it.

TF, congratulations on finishing your Christmas shopping.  I wish I could convince my wife to do that.  We usually wait until the last minute, and then get grouchy over everything.

Charley, I wish our raccoons would take a winter break.  They keep finding ways to get to the feeders.  My wife has tried everything except letting me use my method.

Ray, keep that deep snow in New York.  I really don't want to shovel snow that is that deep.

Bear, with all this talk in the diner about cold and snow, I hope you are enjoying some Spring weather.

Enough of this.  It's back to work filling out forms and making checklists.  I'll check back later to see how everyone is doing.

Howdy from no snow cover in the Finger Lakes.

That said not far west of here they now have measured over 6' of the white "stuff" (I would use a better word but it might get me banned.....) Near Buffalo, NY.  They can keep it!

I did get my little battery electric EGO snow blower out and near the main door on the deck just in case last week.  That should keep any of the "stuff" at bay here in the Finger Lakes for a while.  LOL Confused

I've had the chocolate nutty cones like that but never tried the Little Debbie ones.  Are they really good then?

Hi, gang.  We're coming back from our Bourbon Trail vacation.  As I expected, I'm not a fan of bourbon, and after two tastings I skipped the drinking part and stuck with my job as designated driver.  Good idea, as I stayed quite sober while others were staggering a bit.

The tech of bourbon making is interesting.  I did go on distillery tours and picked up a lot of information.

We left our home in Delaware a week ago under bright sun at 70 degrees.  Right now on the West Virginia border with Maryland, it's about 30 degrees and there's been a dusting of snow everywhere.
