How goes the clean-up around your neighbourhood? My brother has a home in Cape Coral (not sure exactly where), and his home survived the storm with very little damage. Some of his neighbours weren't so lucky. I have a hard time getting my head around the sense of loss that they must feel.

Two of the last three ships built for CP, Empress of Canada and Empress of Britain, were purchased by (new) Carnival Corporation.

My dad used to take me to many of the tourist railroads in the east, and there were sure a lot of them back in the day. One I recall was the Everett Railroad. Glad to see it is still hanging in there:

So I’ve discovered this railroad, “The South Shore Line”, and in the 20s and 30s they appear to be big on advertising in general. Also big on electric locomotives.
You have fine taste Bear. I recall riding the South Shore several times in the early 1970s and it was quite the enjoyable experience.

Good afternoon, everyone. Out-of-town company is coming, and we are sitting -- waiting -- waiting. If they're not here by three, I'm starting happy hour without them.
We just got home from an appliance store. We went because our dishwasher finally gave out from old age. What I didn't count on was that at the store, my wife found a refrigerator she just 'had to have'. As I was paying for a refrigerator and dishwasher, she was looking at stoves, then walked over to the TVs. I got her out of the store before she could add anything.

John: Was a great experience. This was the fourth Purdue Nebraska game I have attended, but the first that Purdue won. The two games in Lincoln were a lot of fun, we were treated very well, especially as players parents. Not much defense for sure on Saturday night. Nebraska played really well for their interim coach.
it was really neat to see a sellout. Never even came close in the five years our son played. On the train front, saw a lot of CSX trains and caught a light engin move on the Kansas &Oklahoma shortline on the way home.

Dawn had a difficult morning, but things got better by lunchtime. Grandchildren visited after school and stayed until 8.00pm. A little late for them, but they enjoyed themselves.
A visit to the hospital (again) for Dawn tomorrow.

Hospital appointment for Dawn today. Oldest grandson visiting after school. This evening is a zoom meeting with Ocean Liner Society. Apart from that, a quiet day.
Good Morning everyone from the cold, wet, and windy Great Lakes state. Seems like it's been raining for a week straight, and that's not really an exageration. Even been a bit of the white stuff mixed in here and there.
Getting new phones for the family and I'm pretty sure the girl I spoke with at the store goofed entering in what I wanted to make happen. The scheme I had in mind was to up the plan we were on, which would make exchanging two of our phones essentially free, and a much better deal on trading in my daughters' phones. It appears she didn't enter the plan upgrade, which will have me overpaying for everything. Going to have to stop back in and talk to someone to get it straightened out.
Entering that time of year at work where I'm convinced I'm never going to get my end of year stuff done in time. There's more this year than in previous years, so I may be closer to right than ever before. NOT a good feeling. I might end up living at work for a while. Yuck!

Sew... I have not finished with the Christmas Light Project that I started, but at least I am done with the soldering iron, so I will have somebody take up to the train room. That way I can work on trains and thern come down and work on lights, unless I am so tired that I want to lie down and take a nap.

Mike: Our fiscal year ends on June 30th; which is weird, at least to me. It means a busy summer getting the financials done and the audit completed.

We had our first freeze last night; so we spent a good portion of yesterday afternoon trying to protect plants. Not sure it will help, but that is what my better half wanted to try.

As we are approaching three weeks from the strike, I am appreciating how lucky we were.
All the traffic lights are working now, so it is easier to drive about and see what actually happened. Within a mile of my house several neighborhoods were completely destroyed.
Ridgeway Estates and Waterway Village are both neighborhoods that were built "way out of town" in the 1940s and 1950s. These have both survived countless storms in 70 years, but were flooded and destroyed by this one. My neighborhood backs up against Ridgeway Estates, and the flooding was less than 1,000 feet away.
The newer neighborhoods Lochmoor Estates and Bolado Moorings were also destroyed and not far from my house.
There is a gated community very close by called Moody River Estates that had severe damage to at least half of its properties.
My neighborhood seems to be the unscathed rarity in this area. In the immediate area we lost shingles, pool enclosures, and fences, but there was no flooding and no real damage.
The stories I am hearing at work from our customers are heart breaking.

One of the neatest-looking "tourist" trains I've ever seen! When I was a kid my dad would take me to the Everett Railroad and I remember some of the cars painted in gaudy colors with large spelled out names on the sides like a circus wagon.
We had about an inch of snow accumulate but most of that has melted away.
I hope everyone is doing OK these days —

Did you put any new software on the computer. Old computers run slower on software made for newer computers even if it will run them.
How is your video, it may be your video card that is slowing things down especially if you have a video intensive software program installed. Especially with YouTube, they have put their quality way up and depends on your having a recent card.

I am getting about 65 Mbps upload and 18.6 Mbps download, and our network has about 30 workstations and servers on it. GigaBit service is a waste of money. Of course we are on optic fiber, but that was the telephone company's doing, they ripped out all of the copper and replaced it wit optic. Now we get network, telephone, and television all in the same bundle.
