Here's B&CCS 303, an ALCO RS2, hauling a local into town!

More ALCOs please!

Check out the Balfour and Colucci Creek Southern Railroad, my proto-freelanced N scale model railroad, at bccsrailroad.weebly.com or on Youtube on my channel, N Scale Train Boy.

More ALCOs please!

How about a pair of ALCOs? Most of my commuter trains are handled by RS1s and RS3s. Here a bird's eye view of NYBW RS-1 and Pennsy RS-3 leading inbound commuter trains during the morning rush hour at West Chester. I learned after staging this photo a few months ago that Pennsy also ran theirs long hood forward.

Since ALCOs seem popular, let's stay with them for awhile.

By the way that does not look like one of Jim Hediger's Ohio Southern Boxcars, and the Ohio Southern was a real railroad absorbed into the DT&I.

No it does not, but it is my tribute to his OHIO SOUTHERN. I corresponded with Jim many years ago. He sent me decal sets for HURON STEEL, but not OHIO SOUTHERN. I lettered that boxcar with lettering from a SOO LINE decal set.

I used the decals he sent to letter this gondola, and a couple of idler flat cars.

-Photograph by Kevin Parson

Jim's decals for HURON STEEL were printed by Rail Graphics. He used the same type style and color I use for the STRATTON AND GILLETTE.

It looked like his OHIO SOUTHERN also used the same, or very similar, typestyle. I try to introduce a variety of typestyles in the Fleet Of Nonsense, so the SOO LINE set seemed like a good starting place for my fancy OHIO SOUTHERN tribute boxcar.

I'm almost tapped out of silver except for my Budd cars. These will be my last offerings.

First, a Nickel Plate silver box car. I haven't researched this one but I'm wondering if it was intended to run in consists with stainless steel passenger cars.

Lastly, the local spots a silver Sinclair tank car at the fuel depot.

GORT is the kind of whimsical feature John Allen might have put on his Gorre & Daphetid. Didn't he have a flying saucer somewhere on his layout?

This dock is attached to a produce warehouse to the right of the photo. Walthers originally sold it as Miranda's Bananas and I planned to put it here but they discontinued it before I could buy. I substituted another structure and scratchbuilt an extended wood platform. I was never happy with either. When the Miranda's Bananas kit was reissued under a different name, I snapped it up and the substitute structure was moved elsewhere. When Walthers discontinued their modulars, I had a lot of leftover concrete loading docks so I pieced a number of them together to make this one.
