Post Hog...Post Hog...
There are good plumbing days and there are not as good plumbing days. Today Was a Good Plumbing Day. It only took an hour and a half and I didn't need the parts I cut up.
Man! I'm wiped out from a hard day's work here, ...Now where did I put my Razor Saw and my roast beef with swiss on rye?
TF
Yes
I remember saying "That thing can't be safe in a bad storm can it?"
I guess if it has survived so far, the engineers didn't just pack their lunch to work when they designed it
P.S. Yep! If it rains too long all you need is a short ladder and a boat.
Track fiddlerWe both stared up at the Caboose and I asked Judy if she knew how to shimmy a pole
I'll bet they were a bit nervous when the recent spate of tornados were passing through! Now, in a flood it might be handy?
Speaking of weather...

I couldn't leave well enough alone with this one today.
I remember Christmas time when Judy and I were in Jackson Tennessee. The town was short on vacancies at the nicer hotels but I told her we have to go see the Casey Jones Museum before they close.
This little pub with the Caboose was kitty corner across the street. We both stared up at the Caboose and I asked Judy if she knew how to shimmy a pole
Good morning, everyone. I'll have a full English along with David.
It's great reading everyone's comments. I live in a sparsely populated area, and we just don't socialize much (because of my wishes) since I retired.
We have a family in town who really decorates for Christmas. This family is in competition with his sister's family who lives in a different town. They get people who come to view the display to donate food for the local food pantry. Whichever family gets the most pounds of food collected wins for the year.
It really is a nice display, all computerized in time with music, which is broadcast over a low power station. I know there are lots of displays like this around the country, but out here on the prairie, it is really special.
I hope everyone has a great day today. Tomorrow night Santa works!

To the world you are someone. To someone you are the world
I cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought
Thanks Ed
I enjoy that scene every year...
Good morning
Thanks Dave, John, Charlie
Bridgeman Charlie
Sure enjoyed Bridgeman's ice cream back in the day. I remember once, I ate the whole Lollapalooza Didn't feel too well for a while after but it was fun while it lasted. Too much for anyone in one sitting.
I dont know what happened to all those establishments. Very few of those around here anymore and I dont even remember the last time I seen one.
Perhaps the same downfall as Perkins Cake & Steak had. Inconsistantcy, ...One time you'd go they had a good cook on, the next time they didn't. A time or two of that and you didn't go anymore.
I don't know if anyone remembers Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor. That place was loads of fun when we were young. You only hoped you were good enough that your Mom would take you and your friends there for your birthday. Remember those gigantic Jaw Breakers they had?
Well, I have a project in the building later this morning. Bad plumbing is a good thing for me You watch and see now that I cut up those spare plumbing fittings for bridge parts yesterday. Today will be the day I'll need them. That's usually the way it goes
Liked the Lionel Christmas tree trains David, .....What tree?

Will be back in the Diner later.

Stay Safe Everyone.
Hi TF,
I love seeing your bridges! Such great work!
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Well, they can't all be gems. Tonight we watched A Castle for Christmas. Why the GF found that one I don't know. It featured the acting talents of Brooke Shields, as well as Cary Elwes whom you might remember from The Princess Bride and Robin Hood, Men in Tights.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good evening everyone. Happy hour is over, dinner is over, now it's ice cream time.
We got a lot of cleaning done today. Tomorrow I hit the grocery store. We head to the airport Saturday to pick up the first group.
TF and JR, you both have great looking bridges on your layouts. Very impressive.
Have a good evening, everyone. Two more nights until Santa slides down the chimney. No fire Christmas Eve.
Good Afternoon,
TF, nice looking bridges. Think we will have to start calling you Bridgeman.
Been running the Pacific a bit. Nice to just watch it go around. Been a bit tense here with the latest variant driving up my wife's anxiety. That engine is about the smoothest running loco I have. Hard to believe it is 46 years old.
We are well stocked up on food so I think we can hunker down for 3 weeks or so.
Still missing Robbie. He was my TV watching companion last winter.
Starting to get dark here, the sun sets at 4:30.

Had to run and get Judy from work. I wanted to stop and get a Pancheros loaded burrito but she said she's concerned about my health eating prepared food too often
I don't know David, I was zooming in on that beautiful raised panel and pillar brick detail you got going on there. Always a shame to see fine work like that buckle.
I don't think $18 is going to quite cut it, except for covering the glue and spacer material Then how's a guy supposed to purchase the brick sheets at 10-12 bucks a pop
Hopefully cardstock or you're going to have to resubmit an itemized materials list
T.F. The water came in the leak in the skylight into the ceiling down on the layout.
Trains are back up and running, but the bridge needs a proper repair.
Dawn has allowed finances for the repair. £13. 55 (about $18.00)
The truth is I wasn't going to bother, but Dawn has insisted.
Work to commence in January.
Thanks David
Man! You guys got flooded too. And the water got all the way up to counter height? How's the rest of your layout?
Whether duck under or lift, Cool design you did to make it into a bridge Hope the repair goes smooth for you.
If you would repost after you restore it. I'd like to see how nice it looks in its original state.
TF & JR. Bridge builders extraordinaire.
I have only one and that is in dire need of repair after the flooding by the storm we had. Mindst you it is nothing flash. It has to lift off.
I have to visit my local model store and buy the neccessary parts for the repair.
Thanks J.R.
What do you mean not as nice? Are you kidding me? ...Those are beautiful! Finished, painted and have more detail
Well Done!
Good evening Diners. Thanks, Bill & Mike, for the update on Kevin. Thankfully it is only computer challenges as to why he is missing from the Diner; especially in these troubled times.
Hopefully we shall hear good news from Ken (and others missing).
Thanks TF. That's quite the assortment and some clever solutions as well. Like the Merritt Parkway just south of here they purposely did not use the same designs on the overpasses so they all look unique. Not as nice but I did some of the same on mine where I boxed myself in.

That's the best I've ever seen Imgur work from a phone. Maybe they fixed it this morning
MisterBeasleyThanks for that info. We're all a bit concerned, so it's good to know it's just a computer thing.
This is what I like about this forum - it is a community who cares for one another.
Howdy everybody. Bill beat me too it. Kevin is still experiencing computer issues.
Dave, love the single paw print. That's great!
Back to getting more engines entered into decoder pro. Takes a while to read the ESU and TCS decoders. Haven't tried my Soundtraxx ones yet, but I'm guessing they'll be similar.
Had to change out a heating zone valve's guts this morning. It's leaking by and I was expecting it to fix it. Not so sure it did. I think this spring I'll replace them with a different brand. Apparently the ones on my system are prone to cause water hammer and leak by. Both issues I've experienced more than I should have in the 7(?) years we've been in this house.
Mike
Computer problems all over the place. It's been a little slow around here because of the Holidays which is understandable. On the other side of the coin, this was the Imgur site this morning which I imagine is quite busy this time of the year with everyone rounding up Christmas pictures.
Or in this morning's case a few hours
I'll round up the bridge pictures you missed over the years J.R. None of these bridges are painted yet. I will have to find them and post in segments being that I have over 2,500 pictures on site. Posting multiple pictures from a phone is really glitchy and then you lose the whole thing. This could take a while.
Bridge #1
Nope! ...Sorry, the site is flooded again
Billwiz BATMAN I Hope Kevin is okay I've been in touch with him, he is still having posting issues, said it is on his end and will get some help with the computer.

Thanks for the update Bill.
If I know Kevin, ...He's been busting his butt in the backyard with all that cement block, copper rust slate and the matching caps he managed to find before they were all discontinued... He's probably having a Heyday with that new cement mixer as it's always fun using a new toy
That picture of the paw print on the stoop was funny Dave I remember when our Springer Nellie just looked at me with her head turned sideways when I opened the door. I laughed and said okay. It was -20°F actual, let alone the wind chill outside and she wagged her tail when I shut the door. I think she held it for quite a while that time
BATMANI Hope Kevin is okay
GMTRacing So TF when do we get to see all these bridges in situ? Or did I miss that during one of my absences?

Good Morning All,
32F and raining this morning. No ice on the roads though I did take the main roads to the shop and not my normal back roads. Just a regular to go please.
Seems like a lot of power outages lately. The new digs came with a smaller Generac so we should at least have heat lights and maybe internet. If we can't use the stove thee's always the grill out on the deck. The new house is 10 miles and an eternity away from the last one. We would rarely have more than a few hours of power outage as we were on the same sub mains as the local shelter building. Where we are now has had some week long or longer outages in the last few years.
I loved the single paw print in the snow. Out little toy rat terrier is like that. When she does go out in the snow it looks for all the world like she is trying to levitage herself.
If any of you have heard from Ken, there is a nice article in the latest NMRA magazine featuring K10 Trains - Kens favourite.
All for now, I need to get a lot done again in the shop today. Ciao, J.R.
