Good Morning,

The snow has finally stopped. Since yesterday morning we have gotten about 7 or 8 inches of light powder. It will really blow around if the wind picks up. Supposed to get down to -25F tomorrow.

I did put the K5a Hudson at the head of a train of heavyweights but ran into a problem with the loco on my 22 inch radius curves as the weight of the train on the angle of the curve is enough to cause the engine to derail. Oh well, I am happy to be able to run it at all as 22 inch radius is very tight for this engine. The train now has a 5 axle C Liner on point.

John, sounds like you had fun. That is quite the crowd.

I hope to start soon in a modek my wife got me for Christmas. It is made of thin foamboard and is of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. We have been there a few times the last was Christmas Eve in 2008.

Time to check the bird feeders gain. They sure were hungry yesterday.

I know why it started working.  When Santa came by, he cleared out all your cookies.

Kevin's been at the cookies???

No wonder there was none in the Diner.Thumbs Down

I'm glad you had a good Christmas John. Your Grandkids are going to have a blast on those bikes.  I had a YZ125 when I was a kid.  High rev 2 stroke that you had to learn how to rebuild if you wanted to keep riding it.

One for Ed.

That top notch craftsmanship of the woodwork appears quarter-sawn to me.

I don't know why it started working. I just tried to post again like I do most mornings... this time... SUCCESS!

Mister Beasley, that's funny!  I'm never quick enough or clever enough to come up with comments like that.

Welcome back, Kevin!  You have been missed!

I just finished making breakfast for 16 sixteen people.  Everyone is sitting around with their morning coffee.  The kids are loud and laughing, having fun playing games.  I wish this could last longer.  We all went bowling last night, then finished the night at the Mexican restaurant.  This morning I realized I'm not young any more and shouldn't drink margaritas with my Mexican food.

Three new loud bikes appeared in our garage.  Let's see ... three bikes ... three grandsons ... a worried grandmother ...  the five granddaughters got things not quite so loud.

One more day here, then it goes back to just grandmother and me.  It will seem very quiet again.

With Kevin back, the diner seems a little more back to normal.  Thankful for that!

Have a good day, everyone.

I had quite a time back in June I think it was.  I got a new phone and the site did not recognize the new format or something.  It took me a while to get back in.  That happens when my service provider does too many updates sometimes as well.

This morning trying to post an image I got forbidden 403 again.  That's been happening more recently too.

Good morning

Thanks for all the happy  birthdays the other day.  Hit the rack early last night getting home from our staycation.  Tired out from all the fun so I'm going to have one of those lazy couch days today.

Hopefully Kevin can figure out his computer issues and join us soon.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Diners.  Keep the coffee coming please, Chloe.

A wet and miserable looking day.  When will this rain stop?

I seems rather quiet in the Diner lately.  I hope  all is well.

Good Morning All,

And I'll have what David is having also please ladies. Never had English Breakfast until we went to the local diner in New Milford. Great stuff!

A belated Happy Birthday TF. I didn't see it as I haven't been in. Christmas plans went Tango Uniform starting Christmas Eve when Renee called in positive. That meant she and Josh and grandson Sam would be quarentining. Christmas Morning we awoke to a sheet of ice on everything so travel was sketchy then anyway. Anna with the preemie in NICU then decided it was too risky and bowed out the next morning as she is also a nurse and who needs the extra risk? So no family gathering as usual Christmas morning and the inlaws gathering later in the day was cancelled for the same reason as Renee was with her sisters when she got her test results.

Not to worry though. We spent time on the phone with Rob our youngest who was still in rainy Long Beach and Anna and AJ ended up visiting briefly (with full masks and distancing), we visited Josh Renee and Sam in their yard (same) all in the afternoon so we had a Christmas afterall, just different. The health of our kids is way more important than a family tradition.

The shop is shut down this week but I am in to do some government projects.

Ciao, J.R.

Good morning Diners.   A full English with Hash Browns please,  Chloe.

Icy cold rain throughout the day.

TF.   I saw the cake.  Sent you a knife to cut it and  'Poof'!!!!   A power cut.   No electricity  until this morning.     Happy Birthday.  Happy B-Day

John.   I like the poem.  Funny yet sad.  Just how things are these days.

Dave.  Whatever theme is chosen for January  will be fine by me.

One more and I'm hitting the rack as it's about time.

You didn't even need to wish me a happy birthday Ed.  You send me Green Machines and neat bridges quite a bit.

If I had to choose between a happy birthday friend and a guy like you.  I would probably have to pack up and move to New ZealandLaughLaughLaugh

Once Upon a Time Brent, Yes.

And the only toy Nellie never destroyed was her little Hopper.  She tucked that in the couch at night from when she was a little puppy.

We didn't know that frog was still in the couch until she got older and she took it out one day and it was still as new as the day we gave it to her.

I don't know what happened to that frog toy but years later she picked up a frog in the yard after I neglected the tall grass.  Her mouth was drooling and she carried the Frog to the pond in the backyard and dropped it in the water.

I looked at Judy and said, isn't that something?  She never gave up her frog toy and she will never will hurt a hopper.

She was a heck of a bird dog though.  When she wasn't hunting with me she would jump over the railing on the deck and catch Tweety Birds in the airLaugh

Just swooped in to see it is TFs Birthday!Happy B-Day

Here's a song Gord wrote about getting old, your still a young punk compared to the rest of us.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLbxRbVKjAA&ab_channel=bernardbriggs

Glad I missed the cake, too many bike miles to work that off.

Ed, love the B/A posters. I have an old B/A oil tin unopened with the oil still in it. Those are quite collectible, maybe I'll try and sell it sometime.

We only had seven for Christmas dinner instead of the planned 20ish, I think it was just as much work though. Five loads in the dishwasher. I keep telling the wife next year we are in Hawaii for Christmas, maybe one year it will actually happen.Laugh

Congrats to the new Grandpa, is that the Seattle daughter? I see another long drive in your future.Laugh

I got notice to book a time for my 3rd dose and brought up the website calendar to book. I was looking at next week and then got distracted and it was filled up to January 26 when I looked again five minutes later.Indifferent Snooze ya lose.Laugh I can go to the walk-in but I'll wait, I have a low exposure being the hermit I am.

My wife's parents are both in their eighties and we went over to drop the weekly groceries off for them and they had a visitor. Long story short, well into the visit she said she had not been vaccinated. We are holding our collective breaths.

Had a good haul this Christmas. I haven't even had a chance to play with any of it yet. Got a Jordan Spreader from Walthers, another Canadian dome car, a #10 LH T/O, and a pile of gift certificates from PWRS. A new mike for recording some of my music from the kids, they have been pushing me to post more online. A new Garmin Vivoactive4 monitor for working out. A case of good wine, and a large bottle of the Captain.

Got another Alexa for the trainroom so I can keep track of things while I am back there. Alexa keeps me very organized with all her reminders and I just ask her about the flight status of aircraft I may need to meet. She also tells me when someone is at the door as I cannot hear the bell from the trainroom. She also plays whatever I want on the stereo just for the asking. If I am following a stock I can just ask her the price without having to stop what I am doing. I was quite skeptical about Alexa when we got the first one, but I would never be without it now as it is a major time saver. I can be sitting there at the modeling bench and ask her to make a phone call for me without missing a beat.

We have thousands of photos on Amazon and my sister came over and asked for a photo of our kids from when they were small. I just asked Alexa to run photos from 2005 and Alexa turned on the TV and put them on. It took two seconds.

A lot of the Canucks games have been postponed because of covid, found my hockey buddy under our Canucks blanket the other day sound asleep. She is bummed out with no games.Laugh

May be an image of dog

Today we are watching the World Juniors from Edmonton this year. She is keeping my seat warm while I wish TF a Happy Birthday.

No description available.

Time for a scotch while I watch hockey with a dog's head on my lap.

All the best to all.

Hi everyone!

It's getting close to the end of the month. That means that we have to choose a new theme or location for the Diner. A suggestion was made not too long ago that we feature line side structures that are not stations or freight sheds. Does that still interest you? I think it could be a very interesting and possibly inspiring topic, especially for the scratchbuilders.

If you have other suggestions please speak up. If we don't use your idea in January we can still put it to use in subsequent months.

Once again I am willing to move the Diner. However, since we hope to be entertaining on New Years Eve, I would like to move the Diner on the 30th if that is okay. I'm planning on being in the hot tub at midnight on the 31st., and besides, I probably will have been celebrating all day so I wouldn't be in any condition to move the Diner in any case!Smile, Wink & GrinDrinksBeerYesYeah
