Afternoon Folks!
At the risk of boring everyone greatly..... Here are "in progress" photos of the "curved" girder Bridge on my SLO&W Layout. I used the same basic design used for the small bridge I posted a couple days ago...
Basic assembled girder panels...
Some shots with rivet details added...
Assembled sections of bridge...
Painted...
Ties in place...
Track laid down...
Bridge in place on layout...
I have a temporary bridge (basically a strip of plywood...) on the layout to finish the span which is on an upper loop (been there too long) that when finished with another bridge, will complete the scene. Safety guard rails will be installed when I make the other permanent bridge and will span both bridges.
Maybe this winter I will get back to work and finish the scene???

We'll get there sooner or later!
I have just over an acre in grass and it was a sea of leaves. The John Deere earned its keep and once again the rake did not leave the shed. No Golden Retrievers were harmed in the vapourizing of the leaves.

Daughter just informed us she is coming home for the weekend and is on the ferry. To the Batmobile!

Good evening
Have a great time on your get-a-way John. I hope you have fun!
That is one fine piece of craftsmanship on your Bridge right there Ray. And you even painted it after you finished the fabrication TF likes it Nice!
Great job on the lawn Brent! That Deere is quite the mulcher. I bet you might even of had fun driving and letting that Green Machine do all the work. That's the way it's supposed to be!
Have fun visiting with your daughter this weekend Here's the view out the front of my want-to-be Batmobile
Have a great evening guys
TF
Back at home from a day in Orlando.
I stopped by Colonial Photo and Hobby, and actualy met TWO FORUM USERS in the store purely by chance. I just mentioned "STRATTON AND GILLETTE", and one guy said "are you Kevin?" Then the other came over and introduced himself. Both of these guys are new users (and to be honest, I don't remember one of their handles), but now I have met two more of us.
I guess it has been a while since I posted a picture of myself in here. Neither or them had seen what I look like.
We took my daughter out for dinner and a couple of her friends, one of the forum members I met, and his son joined us.
We had some great conversation. It has been a long time since I had a get-together dinner with so much entertaining conversation. Topics ranged from Civil War reenactments to classic car floormats. Really.
My Baby-Baby sold EVERYTHING she owned in California, and flew home with nothing. She has already bought a new car, a Mazda MX-5, and some furniture and settled into an apartment. She has a good job already, and she seems very happy.
She is hanging out with the same girls she was friends with before she moved away, and that is great. I really like her group of friends.
We ate at a Diner up North of the Orlando International Airport that was excellent. We were out of the deck, and the night was simply perfect.
This was a truly great day.
My younger sister and her husband went to the Rolling Stones concert in Tampa tonight. I don't know how they managed to get tickets.

Good morning
Sounds delightful your daughter moved back and now you two can spend more time together Kevin.
As it turns out my oldest daughter moved closer to town this spring and now they both only live about 15 minutes from me.
A few weekend's ago we all three went to a gravel pit agate hunting, they both still like to do that. A couple evenings ago I took my oldest out for ice cream.
Prayers needed for my little great niece CC. She caught the covid at school that's spreading. She developed a respiratory complication RSV on top of it and not doing well. It is my belief as happy as she always is with her love of life, she will snap out of this.

TF, I will keep CC (and your whole Family) in my prayers for a quick recovery with no lasting problems!
BTW, what a cute and sweet looking young lady!
Blessings! 73
Good morning from the sunny Pacific Rim.
TF, I am saddened to hear of your sweetie CC getting covid. I am sending all the positive energy I can muster her way. A cutie pie like that does not deserve such a thing.
Daughter is home and the house is full of music as she has sat down at the grand piano. I cannot get enough of listening to her. She turns twenty this week so it is a bit of a bash for her tonight on the spur of the moment as we didn't know she was coming home until she was on the way.
Well, the verdict is in on the leaf blower. I should have got one years ago. My roof is 6000 sqft and I use to get up and spend a couple of hours using a broom to get all the crap off it. Yesterday I had the entire thing blown off in 5 minutes down to the lawn where the Deere then turned it to dust. My cement driveway is 4000sqft and I use to have to use the pressure washer to unglue all the wet leaves and that took a couple of hours as well. A five-minute walk down the driveway blew them onto the lawn where the John Deere then turned them to dust. The same with all the decks and patio. It was done so fast I didn't get to play with my new toy very long.
Kevin, that was kind of cool meeting forum members at the store. I was at PWRS once when Jason Shron was there doing meet and greet and a bunch of us were talking forums. There were 14 of us there and not one was a member of the MRR forum other than me.
Those Maxda MX-5s are a lot of fun to rip around in. I had an opportunity to drive one on a few occasions. I had a 1990 RX-7 TurboII for 14 years and it was a sad day when I sold it. When kid #2 arrived it was time.
Had our first frost and it is stunning outside. This time of year is perfect hiking weather so it will be off into the forest for a few kms today.
My daughter belongs to a cosplay club at University and has been making stuff as Kevin does but she has been using the University 3D printers. She made some superheros arm that is quite amazing. She made it in parts and glued them together. She said Dad if we buy you a 3D printer for Christmas, can I use it? Sounds like a deal to me.
Have not heard from Garry in a few days, hope he is doing okay.
We need a theme or destination for next month, I have made a couple of suggestions and Rich has as well. I don't care what we do or where we go so long as the coffee is hot in the diner.
Time to get the hiking boots on and get going.
All the best to all.
Evenin' (well almost evening around these parts).
I done went to Walgreen's this morning and done got injected again. Yep! Got me the Moderna Booster dose to lift my imunity a bit.... No problems at this point, not even a sore arm. The rest of the evening will be more painful..... Having dinner with with my sister. She has a few major problems, most of which relate to her snotty, know it all attidude. No one is ever allowed to have a differing opinion from hers. And if they do agree with her she usually go to the "It's to late to agree with me, I changed my mind" philosophy!" She does not ever eat beef! Unless, of course it is something on my plate... LOL
I'm sure I will survive the evening with only a few raises in Blood Pressure, but without any horrid scenes..... as long as I don't have any opinions that came from anything called "provable facts"... I guess every family has one of those types. I love her dearly, but she is not usually fun to be around.

Howdy ... thanks again for thoughts and prayers . It was October 19 when my heart stopped beating two times and my implanted defibrillator saved me . It was a very rough week in the hospital. I came home two nights ago , and I am totally wiped out . I am on oxygen continuously.
I don't know when I will get back to model trains or when I can contribute in the Diner regularly.
Trying to keep a sense of humor, I leave you with this one. They poked so many needles in me in the hospital that I am considering dressing up as a porcupine for Halloween.
Good night

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Garry and CeeCee and John's daughter and for anyone else I may have missed. I have eight grandkids and I can certainly feel the compassion for them when things aren't going well for them.
Will we ever get to see where in New Jersey this photo was taken, LION?
BroadwayLionGGGUESS WHERE... Hint: GG1s used to pass through this town though not on this line.
I can see the PRR catenary in the background.
I made a few guesses several pages back. Any other takers?
Someone mentioned making the November Diner's theme about the railroad's wartime contributions and operations. That sounds like a good subject to me.
I stumbled on some scenes from a film made to show the efforts of the French resistance in the waning years of WWII:
Quite fascinating stuff! I found a copy of the DVD so I could get the complete film. It is on my queue for the next model workshop session.

All day long i have been thinking about what a wonderful day I had yesterday.
That dinner with new friends, family, and good conversation was a long-missed wonderful event. Everything was so perfect. It was mid-70s, clear skies, good food, no humidity, gentle breeze, and lots of stars. I did not know how badly I needed something like that.
I wish all of you could have been there to add to the fun.
Last Sunday in October! Where did the year go?
I love Hueys!

Good to hear you're home Garry. Rest up and try not to over do things. I have the highest hope's and best wishes you get better and stronger with each passing day
Saddened to hear your wife's anxiety hasn't gotten any better Charlie. I hope the best for you both as well.
Thanks for all the prayers and best wishes for CC Ray, Brent, Bear, Ricky, and Ed. I do believe positive energy and Good Karma always helps.
She has been given a medication to help break down the mucus in her lungs as she's been caughing almost continuously. We are all hopefull it will take effect soon. They all need some sleep over there.
On a better note, it was a beautiful day of 60° yesterday. Not a cloud in the sky. I picked up my youngest daughter Brittany in the Mustang and took her for a car ride to get some ice cream since she missed out last time. We had fun.
Happy Holloween everyone
Happy Halloween everyone.
This is my 100% absolute favorite holiday, and I am going to miss it this year because I have to work. I don't know how many trick-or-treaters we would be expecting anyway.
I rode in one helicopter. It was a tiny two seater, and I was terrfied the entire time.
Why am I out of bed this early?
Hi everyone,
We have had two themes suggested for the November Diner. One is 'interesting line side structures', and the second is 'the wartime contributions that railroads made'.
I think they could both be very interesting, but I'm leaning towards the wartime theme. Brent and Ed have both expressed their support for going that route. Does anyone else want to chime in?
I'll move the Diner at midnight or thereabouts unless somebody else wants to do it..
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Wartime operations of railroads are interesting, I am especially fascinated by USA railroads during the ACW, and front line operations in the European Theater during WW1.
We would need a commitment from everyone to leave political discussion out, which has proven difficult whenever the discussion of historical conflicts have been brought up.
Gòod Morning,
TF, I hope your niece is better soon. It is hard to see little ones suffer.
Garry, glad to hear you are home and with rest your energy will improve.
Nice day here yesterday. Today I have to clean the soil out of a lot of flower pots as it is supposed to get cold on Tuesday. The wet soil will crack them if it freezes hard. The pond can stay another week as it is supposed to hit 50 by Thursday.
Kevin, nice to hear about your day.
I need more coffee. I make it at the wet bar we have in the basement where I live most of the time. It gets lonely down here now that Robbie is gyone.
CN Charlie
CNCharlieDid a BbQ yesterday but did a crap job according to my wife who threw her chicken in the garbage. That is the last time I will ever grill chicken.
Wait wait wait. The Southerner in me is coming out...
Barbequeing and Grilling are two entirely different things.
CNCharlieKevin, nice to hear about your day.
I hope that it was just the beginning of lots of great days to come.
TF, praying for CC. Such a cutie!
Garry, glad to hear you are home. Hang in there and stay in touch as you are up to it.
Took our kids to a haunted ship Friday night. It was fun. They did a really good job.

Yes, someone guessed the answer way back in the big inning. It is the River Line termanal in Trenton.
This next one is obviously on my own laayout... but what station is it supposed to Represent?
And yes... There really ARE lions in the Bronx!

Agreed, and I'm a born and raised Pennsylvanian.
Good morning from perfectville. It is another beautiful sunny day.
Ed, A friend of mine was chief pilot for a large Vancouver-based helicopter company, so that afforded me rides on occasion. He use to set hydro towers with a huey. The power you feel riding in one of those is quite something. I have been in many different helicopters through the years but never one of those tiny two-seaters. A Bell jet Ranger is probably the smallest. I did use to chase my friends down the valleys around the mountains North of Vancouver up to Whistler and back pretending we were fighter aces. It was a slow-motion affair in Piper aircraft though. We had a lot of fun.
Walked for hours yesterday through the forest. Saw lots of Deer and even a big black bear which does not happen very often. I took a picture of him but got my fingers instead. He wandered off when the dog barked at him while wagging his tail. I need more practice using the camera on my phone.
This area has had all the ground cover removed by a movie company that was filming in there. They had huge power cables running into this area from a dirt road that is 300 metres away at least. There are some pretty big trees in this part.
I just love walking through here, and so do the dogs. No cars, sidewalks, roads, people, or noise. The silence is deafening.
The house was full of kids last night for my daughter's Birthday. They are all adults now but lots of fond memories of them all of when they were tiny came flooding back. They still played games around the dining room table and watched movies crammed on the couches. We went to bed as they now drive themselves home in their expensive cars. No sleepovers or parents coming to pick them up.
Time to hop on the bike for an hour, weight is up three pounds as the wife has been going crazy in the kitchen. I will be back down in a few days. Another long walk is in order as well before I drive my daughter back to the ferry. She usually goes back Monday but has an extra all-day session in the medical lab at school on Monday.
BroadwayLion... but what station is it supposed to Represent?
Perhaps?

Thanks for the kind wishes and prayers for CC Mike, Charlie and everyone. We should be hearing an update soon. She is strong and full of life so I know she's going to pull through this. She has to, I just love that little sweetie.
Last year we made spider deviled eggs and stuffed peppers for Halloween.
This year we made Spider pizza, pumpkin Krispies and more deviled eggs.
We already ate two but Dig In!
Happy Halloween
Don't mind if I do TF! That pizza looks mighty tasty.
Can't remember the last time we ever had a trick or treater, it has been years. The distance between houses and the long driveways make it an extremely unprofitable neighbourhood to trick-or-treat in.
Daughter is on the Ferry and says the boat is full of people in costume, including a guy in a full suit of armour. They are having a good time apparently. Hope the guy in the armour doesn't fall overboard, he won't be swimming far wearing that.
