Welcome to Beamish Museum, County Durham, England.
gmpullmanWorthwhile looking at all the photos in their Flickr album
I looked at all of them, and you are correct! Beautiful work. That group has built an amazing layout.

We had wind, rain, and thunder all night long from Tropical Storm Elsa.
I checked around the neighborhood this morning. All the fences are still standing, no tree damage, no standing water in the roads, and I saw no roof damage anywhere.
The water level in the ditches is a little higher than last night.
We have had worse damage from heavy afternoon Summertime thunderstorms.

Howdy ....
I just received info from Kalmbach about a book they offer about Burlington Zephyrs of the 1930's. I'm tempted.
Ed .... I like the photos of the NAPM layout. Thanks for sharing.
Kevin ..... It sounds like all you had was lots of rain. Glad there was no significnt damage. ..... Question. Does the water cause copper pipes to deteriorate and leak in house plumbing? I heard the pipes can get pinhole leaks, and must be repalced.
David ..... Beamish Museum looks interesting.
Everybody .... Have a good day.

Heartland Division CB&QKevin ..... It sounds like all you had was lots of rain. Glad there was no significnt damage. ..... Question. Does the water cause copper pipes to deteriorate and leak in house plumbing? I heard the pipes can get pinhole leaks, and must be repalced.
My house was built in 1989, I purchased it in 1999.
In 2001 we had to have the entire house repiped because of pinhole leaks in the original copper plumbing. The leaks are supposedly caused by dissolved minerals in our hard water.
The new plumbing is all piped with CPVC, and we have not had any problems with it in 20 years.
Copper plumbing is a nightmare down here. PEX is used in all new construction, and is supposed to be the best permanent solution.
Good morning, diners. Bacon, eggs, and coffee, Chloe.
It stormed a little overnight, but hardly any rain. The center pivots are all working full time right now. The corn in the field right south of me is over six feet tall. It looks very good right now.
Nebraska has a Class III short line railroad, Nebraska Central. It has 340 miles of track with around 30 locomotives. It mostly hauls corn, ethanol, and scrap metals.

God Morning,
Another smoky day here so we won't be doing much outside.
Garry, we have copper pipes in our house that was built in 1960. They are stiĺl solid so based on Kevin's experience, it must depend on the water. Even our drain pipes are copper.
I might install the new router I got and see if it works better than the old one that caused the TV signal to break up. I only got intrnet service in the basement so I could watch streaming services and youtube on the TV . I hate doing that sort of thing as they usually are frustrating.

I found another good picture from my trip that is worth sharing.
Our Maryland neighborhood was built 1999-2001 and the used thinner copper pipes than previously used. 15-20% of the homes suffered pinholes. It cost around $7K to fix
Plastic is now common, maybe code

Kevin ... I like the picture of the rock formation . ... Thanks for answering my question about copper pipes in FL. I asked because my son's house in Tampa area has leaking copper pipes, and he will soon have them replaced. ..... CN Charlie and Henry: Thanks for commenting about yours. I have never never had a problem with copper pipes in KY, MI, and IL.
John York 1 ..... I like the look of the Nebraska Central locomotives. I guess that railroad is comparable with Paducah and Louisville (PAL) here in KY.
PAL has some big locomotives (SD70MAC ) which haul coal trains. They also have GP40's . They sometimes run road slugs ( made from older GP units ) with the GP40's .
For some reason I am very tired, so I am going to call it an early evening.
Stay well everyone.
The World Is A Beautiful Place.
Good evening all.
Zoe - A slice of that yummy looking apple pie there, yes, of course with a couple scoops of ice cream. Thanks.
Garry - Neat looking units.
Kevin - Did you catch any fish around that bank?
Glad no issues for your area from the storm. We had a pretty good thunderstorm today west of me knock over numerous trees and power lines. Storm spotters and FD are saying a "downburst" moved through that area. CN (Ex Bessemer), NS, and CSX had to halt traffic for a bit.
Another storm hit south of me as well.
Fortunately, no damage in my immediate area.
Oops - I missed a photo from my B&P folder for this month....
With the "prototype for everything" theme from the other shortline, B&P deserves that mention as well.
Prototype for everything: Over-tie ballasting. by Richard W, on Flickr
They were refreshing ballast on the old ALY line in 2019, and dumped the ballast where they needed it, but then took there sweet time actually doing anything with it. So, for more than 2 weeks, their line looked like the above pic.
So, I don't feel bad about my "less then stellar" ballasting anymore. I have a 1:1 scale prototype pic to prove that it can look horrible on the prototype, so my so-so job isn't so bad anymore.
Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!

Good morning, diners.
I'm just checking in -- I have a busy day here.
Have a good day, everyone.
Nebraska has a big connection to railroading. The UP transcontinental route started here and UP's headquarters is in the state. While BNSF's headquarters are not in Nebraska, the owner, Berkshire Hathaway, is in Omaha, along with it's founder, Warren Buffett.
Just west of downtown Lincoln, Nebraska, the BNSF Hobson Yard:

Re-orienting the router ought to solve TV problems.
I have no TV problems.
But then again, I have no TV. : )_
Streaming issues might not be the router. It could be the NIC cables you are using. Be sure to use CAT 5e or better. But to tell you the TRVTH... streaming problems re most likely the video card is too old. Replace the computer and/or the video card and the issues may go away.
We have WiFi all over the place but since our TVs are all NIC connections to fiber optic from the phone company, there are no issues.

Good afternoon everyone. Russian Caravan tea, black; and a Devon Split if you'd be so kind Zoe, thanks.
David, about that cruise ship you showed at the beginning of the month, had to think a bit about just what would be involved in supporting a hull of that displacement when in dry dock. The ocean wraps around efficiently, but it would take a powerful number of pit props
Facing a dcc milestone. My 1999 vintage NCE Powerhouse no longer takes programming for consists. Tech dept says normal life expectancy is 20 years. I can't afford to replace right now - so I guess I shall have to learn to be content with single unit trains. Not a problem with my passenger train; but it does make the freights look quite unprototypical for these days. Oh well, not getting any younger myself...

PM Railfan Hello Railfans! Today pretty much went as expected until about an hour ago. And correct me if im wrong but i seem to remember reading above something about "home" for this months theme??? Well, I got some of the worst news you could get from what used to be my "home" that hour ago.... Ive lost a very dear friend. Seems to be a recurring theme these last few days as we lost Preacher Bob (whom i did not know), Randy (whom I did), and now my friend. Im pretty sure none of you would know him. But this guy was rather special, and i have to say very unique. Yes he was a Railfan. Tis why im mentioning this as he wasnt just one of my oldest and dearest friends, he was actually a Railfan's Railfan. The ultimate. Im sure each of you could drop a name of a certain person in your lives who really put the fire under your hobby. My friend devoted hours upon hours mentoring me for which I will forever be greatful, and thankful for, and cherish the rest of my life. I couldnt have had a better way to begin this hobby! He was a father, retired, veteran, god fearing, Southern Ry Railfan extraodinaire. Probably not in that order. Although he avoided the spotlight, I feel he should be mentioned. He always gave, never taikng a thing. I owe him dearly! My friend was born Joseph L. Robey. Those who did know him, he was just Joe - under a green Southern hat. Good evening guys. I've got something railroad related at least from my home state. I saw this a couple weekends ago driving home from a camping trip. Didn't have a chance to stop and take a photo, so had to rely on Google street view. Not sure what it is, other than mining/quarying related.

We ate at a new dive last night. The only thing on the menu besides beer and soda was hamburgers, french and sweet potato fries and fired oreos.
They had 8 varieties, so tomatos but peanut butter? jalopenas, cheese, guacamole, chile, mushrooms, cheese, onions no tomatoes were other options. They were smaller and cheaper than typical US hamburgers but good.
Fried oreos looked like a beignet, but I will be a cold day before I eat a fried oreo.
der5997Some of the firefighters pased us carrying jerry cans of what we assumed was water, because the caps were off, and we could see the liquid sloshing. Then we caught a whiff of that liquid. Gas! Totally crazy, and to this day I can't think of an explanation...
Hi der5997,
I suspect that the gas was being used to start a smaller controllable fire that, when eventually put out, would form a sort of fire break for the main fire. By burning a swath of forest ahead of the main fire they will deprive the main fire of fuel when it reaches the break.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
What a long tiring day this turned out to be. I am sore, worn out, and tired.
Getting the new tires installed on the Impala tomorrow, and then I am off to a train show. This will be the first train show in well over a year. I am looking very forward to this one.
Hope all are well.
Also remember that firefighters are often powering chainsaws and gas-driven water pumps.
