Here here!

Gordon ever comes around this neck of the woods, you will know where I'm at.

My one daughter calls me a lot Brent but the other one doesn't.

I always hear such a great family repore from you and I have to tell you it's always refreshing.

I was looking for something to do this week and I think I found it.  It can't be nothing major but whatever it is I'm going to fix it.

I'm not going to say I wish I had two sons instead of two daughters but daughters are delicate and a tough act to follow.  Their little feelings are hard to keep track of when I could never figure them out in the first place with my Judy.  At least she lets me know is a luxury

Post Hog!  Post Hog!

Okay I'm getting to the critical part of the day now.  Life is getting extremely tough hereIndifferent

I kid you not I have made the best tuna salad for the last 20 years better than anybody we know.  But I haven't made it for a few years because there's so many more things that are better but Judy said all she wants is my tuna salad when she gets home from work.  And the funny thing is I have to go pick her up because she doesn't driveLaugh

I have all the fixings right here but I used to make a double batch when the boys lived across the street and they'd come over and eat half of it or all of it.

Now I have to cut the recipe in half and divided everything by 2 which sounds really simple but I'm used to doing something the same way I've done for 20 yearsTongue Tied

This is going to be a bit tough because it looks like I've already divided it by two?

TerrifyingLaugh

See,  If you guys were coming over tonight I wouldn't have to divide this recipe in half and confuse myself.

I used to make it by memory and somewhere along the way I divided it in half and I don't remember when I did that.  Now it's very confusing!

I ain't no Kelly girlLaugh

We make something similar here and call it "Poor Folk Caserole". It looks like 95% the same thing.

Ours includes celery and diced up bread-and-butter pickle chips.

I wouldn't just be rolling these ones out here but I know you guys well enough to know that you like this album just as much as I do.

Only difference is you haven't heard much of it.  Any objections?

To each their own and I mean that with the upmost respect Kevin.

When the noodles are soft I don't like crunchy stuff like salary in the pasta.

Just like spaghetti, I will pre cook the onions and garlic so you don't even know it's in there.

I like a crunchy seven layer salad with celery, lettuce, radishes, onions and all that stuff thats crunchy.

But I like to keep a crunchy salad crunchy and a soft salad soft and I never mix the two.  Mixing the two doesn't agree with me with anyting.

It would be like putting raw salary in lasagna so to speakIck!  Help, Help, Where can I spit this out??? Ick!Laugh

Soft dish soft.  Crunchy dish crunchy, ........No Mix!

But that's just me!

I never mix tuna and pasta.  I guess that's what Garrison Keilor called a hot dish. My wife calls light tuna "cat food tuna"

Celery is crunchy, salary is not.Devil

My rules on mushrooms and onions is measure what you think you need and double it.  Garlic "there is no such thing as too much"Chef

Howdy ....

Kevin ..... The peach cobler looks good, but I would not want it to be salty.

Brent ... You mentioned mountain bikes, and the reminded me of our visit to Whistler in September. Guys would ride up the mountain on the ski lift with their mountain bikes. Riding downhill must be thrilling. However, we did see guys in the village with injuries that looked like they fell off their bikes . Looked painful.

Here, the ship is still stuck, and the cruise company has experts trying to plan a solution. The have engineers, divers, etc. at the scene.

I promised that for July 12th I would bring the diner to my hometown.

I tried to do a good job, but fate was working against me. I took off yesterday to find my local railroad, the SEMINOLE GULF.

Searching along all the tracks in Fort Myers revealed nothing, so I took off north.

Just South of the CSX interchange in Arcadia, I found this SGLR locomotive... finally.

Just South of there, in Fort Ogden, I saw this string of covered hopper cars.

One interesting thing I saw in Fort Myers was this pair of old 40 foot steel boxcars. These were actually the home of the model railroad club Scale Rails Of Southwest Florida for over ten years. It has been about 20 years since the club used them, but they are still there.

The car on the right housed the HO scale layout. The car on the left was the N scale layout and the workshop.

This is an older picture of mine. This passenger car was the Scale Rails lounge and meeting room. It also housed the club library.

The club sold this passenger car in the mid 1990s and purchased the commercial building in North Fort Myers that is still their home.

OK, there you have it. That is my second-rate attempt at hosting the diner in Southwest Florida.

It is pretty cool we both took pictures in the same spot.

Most of my friends have been to Bovington and taken pictures by Tiger 131.

I have not gone yet, and probably never will, but they all say I need a picture of my own.

Maybe one day... but... I would rather have a picture of me on a caboose any time!

I used to do that!  I loved it!  I did it at Sunday River in Maine.  My best day, actually, was a rough-and-tumble affair where I actually went very slowly over the handlebars and finally made it home covered in mud and blood, nothing serious.  I hosed off myself and the bike and headed inside for a draft beer.  Those were the days, ah yes, those were the days.

Garry, mountain biking is huge in Whistler, the kid and I have spent some great days together plummeting down Whistler on our bikes. The last time we went up the kid had a good wipeout on the first run and that was it for the day. We got a ride down the mountain in the back of a pickup truck. We were back out the next day to make up for it though.

Lots of good youtube videos on Whistler mountain bike trails. Soooo much fun.

Thanks, TF. Having kids was the best present one could ever ask for. My daughter was really into music and was a competitive swimmer and golfer winning lots of hardware. My son was into hockey and golf also winning a lot of trophies along the way. It did not matter how tired I was, going to the rink for games and practice three times a week was the best. Spending most of a Saturday at the rink and coming home to a house full of friends late in the day watching Hockey Night In Canada happened most Saturdays. The best exhaustion ever.

We would host hockey tournaments over a weekend with teams from all over Western Canada and the U.S. Sunday night I would come home and the back of the truck would have some 200 stinky jerseys in the back. The wife would have a prime rib feast ready for us and by Monday night the wife would have all 200 jerseys washed and folded, ready for the next tournament. The worst part is they grow up, at least we all still yap all day long on FB.

Almost 2100hrs, time for a walk around the back 40 with the dogs and then rack time.

Hello Railfans!

Top of the evening to you. Hope everyone is doing well.

Please bear with me I am trying something new. I searched everywhere for the 'test post a picture' thread but only found a million of them.

I logged in with a cell phone. I am posting with that very same cell phone. And I wanted to try and post a picture as well. All of which is turning out to be very demanding and much more of a hassle than doing with a computer.

Please pay no attention just passing through and wanted to say hi, too.

(Pic was inserted here)

ok, well I got the login and post, but no pic. 2 outta 3 ain't bad I guess. Gotta love modern programmers!

Douglas

PS: those posting sympathies concerning my last post, I thank you very kindly!

Good morning Diners.   Tea and toast please,  Janie.

A cloudy day here in the land of the former North British Railway.

Yesterday a neighbors house caught fire.  Fortunately nobody was injured, but quite extensive damage was done.

A film to watch over coffee.

Good morning, diners.  Bacon, eggs, and coffee, ... just like every morning.  The same thing day after day never gets old.

I'm heading out for my once-a-year trip to Walmart.  We are heading out-of-town later this week, and I have to buy some things that we don't have for the trip.

I got all the trees' storm damage cleaned up and all the branches hauled away.  The result is that I'm sore today.  I told my wife this is the last time I will be up a ladder with a chain saw.  Next time a storm does this much damage, I will have to hire someone else to do the cleanup.

I know we have some diners who are having health issues.  Please know that we are thinking of you.

The diesel shop is a neat sight from from the Golden Spike Tower.  The tower is open to the public and overlooks the Bailey Yard.  A former student is a mechanic there.

I'm heading out for my once-a-year trip to Walmart.

My wife and I went to our local WalMart (the one where she was overnight manager for years) last week for the first time in months.

What an awful disaster. The store was just fully remodeled, and now there are no cashiers, and the aisles are arranged like an Ikea maze. You kind of need to go through the store in sections.

As you go through different parts of the store, gates close behind you. You need to get back to a hub to go to the same section again.

We hated it.

Although, it does not seem to be hurting them. The store was packed, as usual, and people were buying like crazy.

We will not be back to that WalMart for anything. Fortunately there are three other WalMarts all within 10 minutes of my house if we need one.

While we were driving around the country last month we stopped at several WalMarts. Some of them were amazingly clean and staffed with friendly workers. Not around here.

Our local Walmart is well-run, clean, neat, and has employees who will take extra time to help customers.  Of course, we are a very small town and that may make a difference.

I actually don't mind going there, but I usually avoid it just not to deal with a large store and lots of people.  Out here on the prairie, having a Walmart near means I don't have to drive 55 miles to the nearest town to find things I need for the trip.

Good morning

If I could go to Walmart only once a year John, I would be much happier than I am up hereLaugh

In fact a little bit ago we traded Walmart in for Aldi because Aldi is actually cheaper than Walmart and the ingredients list is better because it's an over the pond based company and Europe's FDA is better than ours.

I replaced the faucet this morning because it drips and if you lifted the handle just a tad it wouldn't drip but we got sick of all that.

While this old boy was crawling around fiddling and fumbling under the sink I noticed a tag on one of the water lines that said Cauld Chauld or something like that.

Somehow I knew that was the hot water lineLaugh

Wouldn't it just be easier if they printed Hot?

If they want to make it difficult to keep novices from installing a faucet they should just print Scald!  The last time I scalded my hand I became afraid of that and will never do it againLaugh

Here in the U.K. Walmart own Asda  (originally Associated Dairies).   Walmart tried to sell Asda to Sainsbury's, but the Competition Regulator refused as it gave unfar advantage to smaller supermarkets.

I think Walmart are now selling Asda little by little to anyone who will buy.

Good Morning,

TF, that is French for 'hot side' , cold is froid.

A smoky day here but not too bad. If the wind changes from NE to N, it might clear up a bit. It is still dry and git here. We did get a few showers yesterday but they were very light.

No plans for today. I have to do a few paint repairs under the eves but it will have to wait for cooler weather,

Ran the Northern on passenger duty last night while sipping a glass of red wine. Missed signalling for crossings a few times. The guy in the Porsche 356 won't mind as he's been sitting there for over a year. Probably has engine trouble.
