Very understandable John

Shortly back from halftime and it looks like your team is doing rather well

Congratulations but I'm still pulling for my team like a slim chance in the dark

P.S.  If the Pack was playing like they are tonight the last time they played the VikingsWhistlingWhistlingWhistling

York1 John,  do you got your ears on.  Thursday night football  Who are you going for?   The 49ers or the Packers? I'm going for the 49ers!  It's against my religion to go for the Packers

I'll take the Packers.

I hate the 49ers.

It goes back to the 1980s & 90s when the Saints and the 49ers were in the NFC West division.  The 49ers never seemed to get penalized for breaking the cap rules, and they killed the Saints year after year.

I got to see some of those 49ers teams when they played in the Superdome.    I still don't like them.

Not good news to hear about Robbie Charlie

As I have said so many times out of experience, I understand how pets are a member of the family because they are

It's a good thing they know what's wrong with his ligament.  I know you will have to swallow hard with whatever you have to pay for the bill.

I spent $1,700 trying to save Magnum after he was poisoned.  It didn't work but if I had to do it all over again I would

I feel for you Charlie and your dog Robbie

Almost hard to talk about the good hamburgers you had tonight.  There's something about those rare times in your life you get a really good hamburger

I know in my heart your friend Robbie is going to be better in no timeYes

Good Evening,

Nice day here but cloudy. We grilled burgers tonight. They were from a spcialty grocery store and were really good, in fact to me the best burgers I've ever eaten.

Not good news on the Robbie front. We took himto the vet today as his back leg isn't any better. He needs surgery to repair his cruciate ligament. We are getting an ultra sound done Monday  to see if his liver is stable enough for surgery. It will likely cost a bundle. We have insurance but it covers only 45% now because of his age.

Well time for tea and tellie,

CN Charlie

Hot chick at the BBQ drive-thru always brightens any day Ken.  I've always been a firm believer if you want something bad enough you always get it, ...Oh!  I was talking about your credit scoreSmile

On a serious note, keep doing what you're doing.  You quit smoking Ken so you can do anything.  You Will raise your credit scoreYes

Been kind of quiet here in the Diner today

 Eveinf Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.

Weather here was all so great. Took Dirk to the park, too the bank and through a drive thru BBQ joint called Red Top BBQ. At the bank Dirk was my wingman! Started barking when I hot chick drove up next to us. ( I may be old, but not dead ) After he knew I saw her, he stopped barking and had a grin? Whistling

Drive thru he was awful, well in till the girl handed us the BBQ? Then for some reason he stopped barking? Confused Funny thing I have been wanting to try this places for the last few years and wife kept saying "what it is to hot or taste bad?". Did not ask her if it was Ok this time and just went there! She loves there pull pork and side's! Smething happen when I wanted to try her now favirot Mexican resturant!

Credit Score. Fico went up 10 points this month. EQ and Trans Union went down 3 points. Lowerd debit ratio from 19% to 17% so I am getting there. 27 years ago when I bought this house I was at 808 and want to get to the 800 again.

Later, Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof

It looks like summer is finally coming to an end in the Valley of the Sun. (That's right, summer.) It is 97 out right now and tonight's low is forecast to be 75. Saturday's high is forecast at 75 and by Monday we are projected to top out at 61. Brrr! Where is that parka? Big Smile

Another beautiful one.  Another outside day planned.  Just don't know what those plans are quite yet.  We'll have to ponder some more over another cup of Joe

If any of you love James Bond movies (like me), the BBCAmerica channel on Friday is showing the first three with Sean Connery:

I have all the 007 movies on DVD or Blue Ray. If my model building workbench was still fully functional, I would be watching them right now.

Kevin, it's too early for you to be up and in the diner.  Are you OK?

I am fine, thank you for your concern.

I have dentist and doctor appointments coming up at 8:00 in the morning, so I am adjusting my sleep until these pass.

Also, the workers are supposed to be here Monday (yeah, right) to install my rear door. I need to up bright and early for them.

In 1996, from November 9 through November 13, a storm dropped over 70 inches (178 cm) of lake-effect snow in the city of Chardon over a period of six days.

It is funny to hear you guys talking about snow when we are expecting a Tropical Storm (Eta) on Monday!

Waiting for some items to be delivered so I can my entry to the competition.

Hi Bear,

Thanks very much for the video of the Garratts operating in Zimbabwe! I had never looked at them closely enough to understand the exact wheel configuration and how the other parts were arranged. I take it that the the water tank was located over the front set of drivers. Correct? I'm assuming that would have made for some interesting variations in tractive ability as the water level decreased.

They seemed to be constantly belching heavy black smoke. Were they always under load because of the grades, or is that a result of the grade of coal being used, or is that just how they worked? The trains didn't seem to be long enough to justify the apparent load they locomotives were under.

Interesting stuff!

Garry, you take care of yourself, I rely on you to provide my regular CB & Q fix!!Smile, Wink & Grin
Ray recently mentioned Garratt locomotives, and Ed posted a photo of one of the 3 NZR G class 4-6-2 + 2-6-4. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and were only in service for nine years. To paraphrase, several books I have on the History of New Zealand Railways they were “over cylindered, under boilered, over gadgeted, with a temperamental automatic stoker, light radius-rods, and perpetually shrouded in a fog of leaking steam!”

The painting and photo of the NZR Garratts are by the late W.W Stewart.

All three were cut up, the engines fitted with modified Ab class boilers and tenders, the 6 remaining in service for another 20 years, though they too, had a dubious reputation.
The photo of the NZR G Class 4-6-2 is from S.A Rockcliff.

So as not to give anyone the impression that Garratts were a waste of time, and with the magic of the interweb I’ll take the liberty and divert the Diner to Zimbabwe briefly. At least the gauge is the same though I gather that the tyre and rail had a different profile.

But now that you're saying 16 to 20 instead of 8 to 10 and you need a machine like that down there, ...Maybe Ohio isn't as mild as I thought it wasLaugh

Um...

In 1996, from November 9 through November 13, a storm dropped over 70 inches (178 cm) of lake-effect snow in the city of Chardon over a period of six days. Governor George Voinovich declared a state of emergency as a result, and the Ohio National Guard was brought in to assist with the cleanup.

November 9th! and here we are today at 70° Cool

We love our snowWhistling

The misses are still pretty decent as they all have lots of cheeseDinner

There used to be a great hole-in-the-wall pizza place in Fort Myers that was amazing. Then they moved to fancy place a few miles away, and the price went up and flavor went down.

I got so spoiled by the amazing pizza places in Atlanta that nothing down here seems even worth the effort to get it.

I once had a pizza at a place called "Luigi's" in Waukegan, Illinois, North of Chicago, that was the best pizza I have ever eaten.

"Joey D's" in Sarasota has good pizza, and is worth the trip, but their Chicago style hot dogs are even better.

Every once in a while I settle and bring home a frozen pizza Kevin.  It's only when I'm tired and feeling lazy and don't want to cook

There are only two pizza places in Minneapolis that are worth getting.  Dulono's or Broadway Pizza, ...That's it.

There is no better but I remember going to Chicago once in a year and that place had award-winning Pizza's.  We couldn't have possibly tried them all

I remember one night we were going to go out to the town and we had Gino's deep dish pizza delivered to our hotel room and we ate so much that we just stayed in that nightDinnerLaugh

But it was worth it!  Gino's was my favorite down thereDinner

P.S.   Some of the frozen pizzas are pretty darn good.  I'm sure you know the best one where you live but the best frozen pizza up here is Heggies

I had a frozen pizza for dinner. I don't remember the last time I had a frozen pizza, but it has been at least nine months since I had any pizza of any kind.

It was wonderful. I had forgotten how good pizza is.

That's a Nice Red Machine Ed!

One heck of a tractor.  I'd be pissed if I wanted a new upgraded toy like that and it didn't snow early like predicted this year too.  And even worse after it does snow and you can't get one.

The one you have now before you get the cab and the heater is nice

But now that you're saying 16 to 20 instead of 8 to 10 and you need a machine like that down there, ...Maybe Ohio isn't as mild as I thought it wasLaugh

I love operating Machinery like that Ed.  The only difference between boys and men is the size of their toysYes

And now my feelings are hurt that you didn't even miss meCrying

So, Playing Euchre after dinner?

73

Kings in the corners was the game planed after dinner Ray.  Judy and I play that card game a lot.  And I won tonightStick out tongue

Before dinner it was Yahtzee and some other card games while waiting for the food to cook.

Euchre, Hearts and Spades are really fun card games that I always like to play but they are always funner with couples when you can give signals across the table to your partnerLaugh  I think that's half the sport

I learned all those card games when I was very young on the school bus on my hour and ten minute ride to school everyday when I lived by the Peg
