Good morning all.

Kevin.   It appears I may have offended you.  If I have, I am sorry.   It certainly wasn't and isn't my attention to do so.

Bear.  That sure looks a nice salad.

We are having a clear out of stuff we no longer use or need and even stuff we haven't touched for ages.   The stuff that will come in handy the minute you throw away.  So that will keep me busy today.

It is 'Burger Friday'.    On the menu is Pork and Apple Burger with Rosemary Wedges and Lemon Rocket Salad

Bring the beers.  Plenty of open space for all.

The 'boys' with a three horse team.

'Fifty shades of green'.

Thoughts and Peace to All who require.

Stay Safe.

...but when I see "healthy" cereal like Raisin Bran and ALL the raisins are coated with additional sugar AND the flakes are, too, and they promote this as a "healthy" choice??  It makes me cringe Ick!

Gidday All, I guess I should perhaps keep the peace, but on the topic of sugar, I have to agree with Ed. Adding sugar to something already sweet is Bang Head   BTW I do have a sweet tooth.Sad

We had to swop an aeroplane at our Feilding base, so I went for a ride and as we were tracking down the Desert Road, I managed to get a semi decent photo of Mount Ruapehu (with snow) and Mount Ngauruhoe, both active volcanoes.

You can make a very good living in that kind of work. My kid met a lot of people that have been doing it for years both modelling and extra work. My kid would easily make a good six figures if he did it full time, it is gruelling work though, it is your life and everything you do is done when they don't need you on set. The kid got treated like a King and paid really well. But his life was only working.

You guys should be in bed.

Since I have retired, I go to bed when I am tired, wake up when I am rested, and eat when I am hungry.

No schedule, and no time when I "should" be doing anything.

I have never even seen Riverdale or The Young and Restless.

The Young & The Restless is not a great (or even good) show, but it has returned to TV post-shut-down with the same quality of writing and story progression that it had before. They had a lot of hurdles to overcome, and they did it. The re-start of the show was impressive.

The return of my favorite prime-time shows has been lackluster.

I normally watch my TV shows by the season on DVD, but since I retired, I have been watching them in "real time".

Kevin, the production value for TV/movie production has shifted greatly.

There is no excuse for the poor quality of scripted prime time network television shows.

Second rate offerings like Riverdale can dwindle, but if the flagships aren't putting in the effort, television will soon be dead to me (again).

If The Young & The Restless managed to make it work, everybody should be able to make it work.

-Kevin

I'll rely on what you have to say about TV Kevin, I watch very few "shows". I have never even seen Riverdale or The Young and Restless. I tend to watch limited series or documentaries. I have not even seen everything my own kid has been in.Surprise The novelty of him showing up in things has worn off. He hasn't even seen all his appearances in shows he worked on. Covid restrictions on set have really changed the appearance of some shows there is no doubt about that. Quality is suffering across the board.

I just watched the first episode of The Crown and it has slipped down a notch or two as well.

I have always been a little bewildered by the fandom of TV shows. There is this tiny old church a short walk from our house that has been used in so many series and people that visit us from elsewhere always are thrilled when they see it and want to get a photo in front of it.

You said your daughter did some TV or movie work, did the novelty wear off after a while.  My kid has a long list of stuff on IMDB and he could care less, it is just really good money that gets him a really good standard of living as he goes through University. He would work long days and make up to $2000.00 a day sometimes. Beats working at McDonald's.

Henry, I asked the boss Dr. and sent a reply.

Kevin, the production value for TV/movie production has shifted greatly. You will notice way fewer people in scenes and a lot of CGI people inserted. My kid is still well connected to what is going on in the industry and we were talking about it at dinner tonight.

Speaking of dinner, with the kitchen torn to pieces we are on night three of takeout. Sushi, pizza and Tai have been the lineup but we all miss Moms incredible talent. Her Dad was an executive chef and she comes by it naturally.

The restoration crew is having a slow go because the subfloor is glued to the base. Our floors never squeaked and now we know why.

Think it will be season 4??? of the Crown tonight. Watched The Wrath Of Kahn with the kids last night. It is my all-time favourite movie and it has been a long time since I had seen it. The kids suggested it knowing it is my favourite and we all watched it together, it was a good night with my cherished offspring. The way it addresses getting old hits home for me. I can really relate to the commentary rolling off the actor's tongues.

Had a friends Daughter in Chicago ask if I knew where the show Riverdale was filmed as she is a huge fan. Its "so-called" soundstage is in the shed of an old "Windsor Plywood" store. Nothing glamourous about this place, I think she is in for a letdownLaugh Instead of piles of lumber the parking lot it is always full of movie trucks now. Most of the location filming is done within a KM of my house though, so I can take her on a location tour if she visits.

The show Supernatural has wrapped for good, it will be weird not seeing that bunch around the neighbourhood. The X-files was always in the area and I have taken a few of my wifes visiting doggy friends on location tours, it thrilled them to death. They would get out and I would have to take photo's of them in front of different things. A show called "Once Upon A Time" is another one I get roped into doing tours for. It is all in good fun and usually, I get a kick out of it. I guess that is what happened if you lived in Hollywood at one time, you would be chief tour guy for the out of town visitors.Laugh

We had a big "Stargate" just sitting in the forest a short walk from the house. They just left it there along with the control panel and would move it around the area every time they needed a new planet to be on.Laugh It was made out of plastic and two people could easily pick it up.

Time for tellie.

All the best to all.

The new TV season has started for some shows, and it seems that whatever is going on behind the scenes with this virus has really effected the quality of the shows.

Even Young Sheldon is falling flat.

Brent sent you a pm about dog surgery.

Thought I could salvage some OSB from some nearby house construction.  It was too wide to fit into my Highlander.

Funny story, I belong to a Groups.IO forum dealing with a certain DCC system.  Someone snuck in a post, past moderation:

"My name is Barbara, I am new to XYZ, feel free to message me."

Some days I feel like I just rolled into town and fell off the back of the watermellon truck.  This was not one of those days.

Good afternoon from the West Coast where it is a yucky day.

The restoration crew has just left for the day and will be back tomorrow for day 5. The electricians come in on Saturday so they better be done tomorrow.

As far as the sugar content in food, well it sure makes the masses want to buy more of the same. Whether it is physical health or financial health. I am dumbfounded by the way people look after these things. A little education goes a long long way.

Spent a good part of the day getting documents to the U.S. Consulate in Vancouver for this Estate that keeps rearing its ugly head. We are making progress. I went to the usual bank and it was shut down due to Covid exposure so I had to phone the wife to find out where another branch was.

We are about to take the pups outside for a romp for the first time so I need to help transport pups the long way around the house as the kitchen is still sealed off.

All the best to all.

Fish dinner please. Sugar: When my friends from Europe visited years ago, they thought our deserts were way too sweet. When I was in England and then parts of Africa, I thought their deserts were like lightly flavored cardboard. One of my oncologists said if I want a dessert, go ahead and enjoy one. Perhaps she no longer wants me as a patient. HA HA Have a great evening everyone. Cheers! Rob

Here in the UK we have a sugar tax on food and drink.   Companies have been told to cut the amount of sugar in food and drink otherwise they will have to pay the sugar tax.

I must say it is working to a certain degree, but some Companies prefer to pass the tax increase on to the customer.

David

We refer to that sort of thing here as either "Social Engineering" or "Nanny State."

I've never been much for sweets, anyway.  As an old man with diabetes, I don't like the idea of any govermment pushing a gastronomic agenda on me.  It's tough enough figuring what to eat without any more interference.

Good Afternoon,

Some years ago my wife was curious as why food in the U.S. is so sweet. She did some research and it is cultural and historical. She found a book on the subject in university library where she worked. Once while visiting our friends in Thief River Falls we stopped for a burger at MacDonalds and to us even the bun was sweet compared to here. Our friends say food here(Canada) is too 'vinagery' .

Off to run trains.

I don't like sweets. I never drink sugary sodas or eat candy. Ice cream, cookies, and cake do not appeal to me very much.

However, I do like sugar where it belongs. It is an ingredient, but should not be the star of the show, like salt.

Is that why there is such a large number of dentists in Florida?

We have an older population, so that accounts for some of it. Also, there is a tremendous portion of the dental industry here that is "cosmetic". Some people here pay dearly for perfect white smiles.

I do not think Floridians consume more sugar than a typical American.

The main thing I was told to avoid with other things was looking into devices, computers, TV or anything else with blue light.

TF, look into getting a pair of blue light blocking glasses.  They should help, and some are quite affordable.  Would probably help you to retain your posthog title.  Migrains are no joke.

My absence has been due to a trainload of work lately.  Extra-long days at work followed up by catching up on things at home when I can has barely left me time to sleep.  You all know what I mean.  Will make the holiday's extra nice this year, even if the gatherings are smaller/non-existant.

Wishing the best to all.  I better get back at it.

A huge part of Florida's economy is based on the production of the best sugar in the world. We have the perfect region for growing sugar cane. So... eat more sugar!

Italian roast coffee, please.

Leaning towards each half of the layout having its own maintenance train. Our layouts are transition era with mostly steamers. So , this is a stretch considering  one will likely be driven by a Central Of Georgia loco with the other by a Copper Basin loco. Of course it's our choice to run whatever we fancy. Not doing any repaints, I like them as is.Big Smile Rob
