Yes

Leveling the more dramatic change in the foam from floating.

And then two bananas to balance your potassium level, some zinc and magnesium should help the situationSmile, Wink & Grin

As always I wish you some good modeling Jimmy and I am very confident you will figure it out based on the beautiful pictures you posted of your past modeling history hereWink

Jimmy_Braum

I ended up ripping up a portion of the layout to put in a new baseboard since my foam was floating, and a six axle loco couldn't go around a 30" curve... the front wheel was rising in the air and then dragging the whole truck off.   Anyone have any advice?

Hi Jimmy.  Not sure if you are having the same challenge  I had some time back.

My trains would not run properly on foam. Jumping the rails etc.  and not always at the same place.  I took the track up and did away with the foam.  I dot use anything under the track now.  Track is fastened direct to the board.    Drastic I know, but trains are running smoothly again.

Howdy ....

I heard Kevin is having computer issues, and that is why he is not here.

We need somebody to start November Diner. I do not know where we are going.

Bear .... That is a hearty breakfast, thanks.

Dave .... That is an impressive group of old HO freight cars.

While we are still in Michigan, here is a GTW commuter train as it looked in the 1970's and 1980's. I worked in downtown Detroit then, and I rode the train regularly. This station, Royal Oak, is where I boarded the train.

Here is the front end of the GTW employee Santa Claus train. THe lead locomoitve was GTW's bicentenial GP38. Two of the four passenger cars were inside the building at the time. Families could wait in line inside the building for their turn to see Santa Claus. The building is a car repair shop in Pontiac, MI.

Below are two more photos of the Bicentenial locomotive I took in downtown Detroit. You can see the Detroit Renaisance Center under construction.

LIONS and Tigers and Bares...

Whale Tigers and Leopards and even a few pix of some bares, the LION was in Bisnmarck and went to the zoo.

Was going to have a RARE PRIME WILDEBEEST, but Jacks was closed between 2 and 4 for covid cleaning. (Also why pay staff for an extra two hours!)

Went uptown to the Longhorn and had a RARE RIB EYE. Gave the waitress a $5 tip. WTH she doesnt have enough customers to make it otterwise.

Good morning, everyone.

We are also having Indian Summer here.  On Monday the 26th we had a high of 28°, and today's high will be 66°.

Our local school sells frozen food products for a fundraiser, and I bought a pizza from a neighbor kid.  Last night I made the pizza.  After one slice, I began to sweat, and I should have stopped right there, but I ate two more pieces.  By that time, my face was red, I was soaked in sweat, and I felt like I had swallowed some live burning embers.

I still don't feel good this morning.  Normally, spicy foods don't bother me, but whatever kind of sausage and peppers that pizza had really set me off.  All I want for breakfast this morning is coffee.

The full moon was beautiful this morning for my trail walk.  Otherwise, my morning walks are very dark.

I have no preference for the diner's November location.  I watched the Mighty Trains episode of Australia's "Indian Pacific" train.  Nice program.  I'd be in favor of Australia, but I'll gladly eat at the diner no matter where we park.

Have a good day, everyone.

good morning all from the Southern Command, it is 37F this morning in North Mississippi.

I had to turn on the fireplace last night.

we are going to partake in some more blues music today in Calrksdale MS.

All outside venues. It is supoosed to warm up today.

The county here came by with their tree wacker and mowed down trees along the road out front of the Southern Command, I guess that was ok with me they did not ask.

Last time I was here the power comapny showed up and installed fiber optic internet which I had not ordered. My guess is some one else is asking "where is my internet?" I don't get to use it as I don't have their modem , but I thought it was funny that they had installed it to the house ( no I did not get billed for it. )

I gotcha,  you mean like this

The conductor in Osceola Wisconsin that day was talking to me about the big machine while we were taking our scenic train ride.

He said it's a big whip train car that swings around this big whip and hacks the trees down along the tracks which is something I would really want to see someday but just not be in the way of it!

Anyone have a picture of that one they could post here?  It's a shame living that thing in description from conversation.

Here's a picture of that man.  The Conductor I really enjoyed talking to that day.

A fun movie was "From Russia With Love", with the fight in the sleeping compartment on the Orient Express.

Sounds better than what I'm facing for a high of 50 today John.

Brace yourself as I am tightening up my seatbelt right now in my truck to drive down there to experience your 66 with ya!   So tell me, do I take Route 66 to get down there? Wink

And I'm bummed Sean Connery died  My favorite Scottish actor  As we get older our Rock and Movie Stars keep dying and I don't like it a bitSad

But on a more positive note, everybody's warming up here for the next few days.  The second wave of Indian SummerYesBow

Get out there and enjoy it while you still can!   Usually you don't get a Third Wave!

We are going to go into a total lockdown for a month.

A letter from our National Health Service - because we are in a high risk group  and we come down with Covid 19 and 'they are too busy'   they will not treat us.

A Merry Christmas to them as well.

Stay safe everyone.

Not the greatest camera work but this is one of the bigger machines:

There are quite a few videos of baby-brush cutters at work but those are pruning shears compared to what this fellow can do.

That time again? Set the clocks back for some of us. Comes around faster and faster every year!

The Hunt For Red October, yes!    One of my favorite Sean Connery films. Excellent performances by a top-notch cast.

I hope everyone is well these days.

Cheers, Ed

All fine here except we are going code red Monday which means restaurants closed for 'in' dining, bars closed, etc. I need to book fir my annual physical. I'm ok with that but my wife will have me in basement quaranteen for 2 weeks afterwards.

We are getting TF's warm weather starting Monday, Today it is 30F with avery strong NW wind, a double reefed main and storm jib day from my sailing days.

I am another fan of Hunt for Red October. Both Sean Connery and Sam Neill were excellent in their respective rolls. "One ping only."

For the first time in our married life we are hunkering down for Halloween. The lights will be off and the door will be ignored. Lousy Covid.

Tonight everyone will change their time relationship with the State of Arizona.

Hi all,

My last post on the topic for this month! Wishing everyone a Happy and safe Halloween this year.

Two things came up with my truck recently. I had forgotten I'd left my passenger side window down and went out to go to work Thursday afternoon after it had rained for many hours and of course the seat, carpet, and panel were oh so wet. And I couldn't address that at the moment as I had to go work. After work got out around 11pm, I went to a place with vacuums and that seemed to help, as did putting towels on the seats. I went at it again with my home shop vac and a heat gun and that too helped a lot to the point where it's dry to the touch. I sprayed it down with Febreeze and have a Damp-Rid thing inside to help. Teach me to double check my windows! In 18-years of driving, I've never left windows down and my interior got rained in. I had a crummy night at work and that may have contributed to my being a bit forgetful that night. On the same truck, my heat started to well not work, it'd blow cold air no matter how long I drove, and how high I turned up the heat. I get online and I see a few places suggest topping off the coolant reservoir and that seemed to help a lot. It's not burning my hands hot, but does blow hot air. I'd be glad if that holds up. I've had the truck about 3-years, two months, and two weeks, and overall it's held up extremely well, but I only put 30000 miles on it in a year according to inspections.

On the train front, I picked up some freight car kits and as those arrive I'll be looking forward to putting them together, adding detail parts I like, plus weathering, Sergent couplers, and Code88 wheels.

Sending some hopes and good wishes for all.

I think your truck will be alright Alvie. I have accidentally done that a time or two

Went to my buddy Erv's today  Had some good conversation and got my rear wheel wells on my truck sprayed with the rubberized undercoating so the panels I put on this summer don't rust out this winter

Picked up Judy at 4:30 from the hotel and went straight to the pumpkin patch   It was way busy so she had me stop by at the grocery store and got some big orange peppers

Kind of silly  These are our pumpkins this yearLaugh

Can you guess which one is mineStick out tongue

She's making stuffed peppers this year for dinner so it won't be too silly laterDinnerLaugh

Four hours to go before we pull the pin on the Diner in Michigan.

I've heard two suggestions IIRC, South Africa or New Zealand? Or was it Australia proper?

IF I don't hear any feedback, I'll take the reins and move us to South Africa for a look-see. They have a dish there called Bunny Chow Dinner (Not the Energizer Bunny, I hope Ick!) Or a tasty Chakalaka?

Or would we prefer New Zealand? A Mãori Boil Up? Marmite on the side. A Pavlova for dessert...

Four hours to decide —

I do not understand this moving from Michigan,

The Diner rolls into a new location on the first of each month, David. One of us elects to be the host and we can all join in to explore the culture, railways and foods of the region.

We will be sheltered-in-place in the diner so no Covid worries.

I just let the cat out and saw the huge, full, SleepBlue Moon! Perfect for Halloween!

Hi Ed,

You are most welcome to move the Diner. I was about to make the same offer but I'll happily let you have the honour. I was going to ask Kevin directly if he wanted to do the job again since he did such a good job for October.

I'm easy with any of the three possible locations. I would like to learn more about the funny looking steam engines used in South Africa that had what looks like an extra tender out front. I don't understand how they work. Heck, I don't even know what they're called.Dunce

Cheers!!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
