Good morning ....

The computer is repaired and working well. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I think it was Dave who posted several photos of Michigan a few days ago. One of the pictures was the Huckleberry Railroad which operates a short narrow guage line north of Flint, MI for tourists. They have a village of buildings from early 20th century with various shops.

I recall a nice family outing. We went to Frankenmuth, the German Christmas tourist town for lunch at one of the authentic German restaurants. It is farther from Huckleberry Railroad. After Frankenmuth, we went to the Huckleberry Railroad for a train ride.

Here is a coffee mug I aquired back when we lived in Michigan. It is for the Tuscola & Sagnaw Bay Railroad which operated in Michigan for many years. It is now the Great Lakes Central Railroad.

Howdy Folks!

Reading through the comments....  I would only say that there is a hobby store here that refused to shut down per NYS restrictions (Ah...  Hobby stores really aren't essential businesses!).  He finally got a visit from the local police and given a choice.  He decided he didn't want to pay a huge fine or spend time in the local lock-up....  He still refuses to wear the proper thingy, and doesn't care whether customers do or not.  He does have the obligatory sign on the door though.  I will never be patronizing the place again!  If he doesn't care about me, why should I care about his business!!!  Very simple!

For those hunters among us......

For some others here....

Have a good one and stay safe out there!!!

Happy Saturday morning everyone.

Flo, I would like two buttermilk biscuits and one egg over easy, and, of course, start me out with a cup of black coffee.

Going to just work real hard on the guest bedroom today. That is all of my plans for this weekend.

TF, you have a truck so consider renting a trailer then you can dump it at the camp site and go exploring.

Puppies are growing like crazy.

Good Morning

I would agree that's the ideal idea Brent but the consideration was short.  If my truck was newer there would be nothing to consider but it's not.  She's an oldie but goodie with almost 280,000 miles on it.  It has always been very well taken care of and has been very mechanically sound.  I'm knocking on wood.  Sometimes you get a good machine like that.  But to push the envelope and drive that old truck across the country, I don't think would be wise.

Here the periodic things that go wrong with it, I have a mechanic named Damien.  He's a fair honest man and charges half of what anybody else in the city wants to do the job for.

He used to have his own mechanic shop right here in town.  He tore off the top of his garage, adding another half story, has a lift and all the diagnostic equipment and is very good at what he does.  Only difference is his garage is 15 foot out his back door and doesn't have the overhead he used to have so he can offer that kind of service at a very reasonable rate.

To break down in my truck way down south I would be at the mercy of any Billy Bob that was conveniently available in that area and that's usually the time you get Reamed to the hilt.

I only had that happen once in my lifetime and just don't wish to chance going down that road again.  It was a horrible experience and ever since then I rent a vehicle when I go that far out of town.

Love the puppies.  I don't know who could not love a puppy.  The only thing better than a puppy is more puppiesLaughYes

Good morning, everyone.

It was 23°F this morning for the trail walk.  It felt colder than that.  We'll get our first measurable snow starting tonight -- anywhere from 4 to 8 inches.

Our dog Daisy does not like cold weather.  With the fire going, she gets comfortable in my chair, even if I'm in it.

Good morning from the West Coast where it is a stunning blue sky day.

Woke up to several deer snoozing on the front lawn, would make for easy pickins if needed. My friends hunt to fill the freezer usually with moose, call me lazy but it is hard work and that is one battle I will pass on.

I came out of Home Depot and there was this rather large gentleman screaming at someone because they were wearing a mask. As I walked by I said, "if you won't wear a mask for your country, I guess fighting for your country would be really out of the question". Never heard another peep from him.

TF, my truck was made in Sept 2000 and just had its twentieth birthday. It is not reliable enough anymore to go to the backcountry. We sold the trailer and if we get another, that means a new truck to pull it. We are unsure what changes will happen with the kids heading out in the world and we really want to be more remote away from the nuthouse this world is turning into.

My friend has a place on the ocean up the coast and you can grab a cup of coffee hop in the boat and have a 20lb Salmon in twenty minutes, bring it home and have Salmon with your eggs. Plenty of game around and endless streams and rivers for the best water on Earth. Right now, though rural we are close to the border and more and more people are walking over it for various reasons and it is turning into a bit of a gong show at times.

The guy is coming to measure for the counter today as he got his new slab of whatever it is in. He did the last bathroom and it was all two of them could do to carry the thing in the house. The boss said it is quartz.

Well time to get at it, I have to run a new 24gauge HDMI cable that some idiot put a nail through.Whistling

All the best to all.

My son's birthday is in four days and the family is celebrating it today (to start with I think).  I will be going over there for dinner.  They are part of my Safe group during this time.

I have had two new trucks in my life.

I had my 1989 Ford F150 for 19 years and nearly 300,000 miles. I bought my Colorado in 2008, and it is getting close to 200,000 miles now. Hopefully I can get another few years and 100,000 miles out of her, then I will buy my last new truck.

My wife used to get a new car every 2-3 years, but we have had the Impala for more than 5 years now, and she only has 40,000 miles on her odometer. We might have this car for a long time.

I won't own an SUV, crossover, or a minivan. I am a car guy, and there are not very many new traditional sedans coming to market.

I rent a vehicle when I go that far out of town.

Me too. As long as National will rent me a good car for $35.00 a day, I see no reason to rack up the miles on my vehicles.

I hope so, this is right near my house. The road on the left is in the U.S. the road on the right is in Canada.

People are now walking over the border in significant numbers, one because the border is closed, but the reality is most Americans don't have passports so choose to sneak over.

The U.S. Government spent a lot of money in the last six months building this fence trying to keep people in. Like this fence will help.Laugh

Like I said it is near to where I live and I drive that road often, hardly ever saw a border guard from either side. The border jumpers are heading North not South but this is what I drive by now every half mile or so.

Kevin, renting a car for long trips is smart money management. Every new car I ever owned I have kept for 14 or 15 years. It is amazing how long they will run when looked after. Kind of like people.Laugh

We are having a Provincial election today so we are off to vote.

All the best to all.

IT'S RIGHT BEHIND US! GO FASTER!

We're still at it boys

The love this family has for Kelly is uncomparable.  We are at the graveyard again late afternoon because it's Judy's Dad's birthday

Her dad was killed by a drunk driver when he was 54.  Kelly and Judy always celebrated thier Dads Birthday with a Budweiser thier Daddy's beer

So when we got here I cleared all the leaves away for her.  She said its suppose to snow 3 inches tonight and she doesn't want any leaves frozen to her sister's stone.  She wants to sweep them away all the way to the corner

If I would have known this I would have brang a rake  My turn to sweep  gotta go

Home again

Just a little hour and a half wave in a Saturday.  I knew about this thing yesterday.  Judy seems back to her normal self since we got back home.

Ya know.  I can have rememberance of friends and family I have lost in the past with my head and speak to them from my heart.  Judy seams to be a little different for now and for now I will be supportive.  I was glad to help.

Everyone leave this one alone please but thanks for the vent outlet

Brent that Canadian wall is really something.  I could jump over that with a skip.  So many beautiful areas in Canada I have seenStick out tongue  If I was anywhere nearby there,  I would probably jump overLaugh

Yet it makes me wonder.  I would have to place my bet that the Canadians aren't jumping overLaughLaugh

NO! NO! NO! Do not use your power equipment to cut frozen meat. A person we knew did this and he filled his garage with meat sawdust. Three days later the whole house smelled like it was full of long-dead corpses. They had to move out and a restoration company had to be brought in to clean the place up.

Went and voted today and was in and out in seconds. In my 45 years of voting, I have never had to wait for even one person ahead of me. I have never missed voting in a Federal or Provincial election.

Out to hop on the Deere to cut the lawn and chop the very few leaves that are starting to fall.

The voting topic.  I didn't know we were allowed to voice that here.

I still need to do that.  I have a mail-in ballot I can use or I can bring that in and do it in person.   From what I understand the mail in forms could be another conspiracy to just get confused and lost.

I was driving through a residential neighborhood the other day and saw a professional looking sign in this Harley guys front yard.  I knew this because he was outside the garage in his driveway working on his bike.  I honked and waved at him and he did wave back.

I laughed pretty hard.  His sign said 2020 election  They all suckLaugh

I'm patriotic for the Vets.  I wish to thank them for their service so I do vote.  I have looked at election day the same way for years though.

Check the box of your best Judgment for the lesser of the two evils because that's the only choice you have    Yippee!

Since 1970 I have voted in every election, in a large city, and in my present small town.  In college I voted with an absentee ballot.  In the city I used voting machines.  In my small town, we use paper ballots.

I have never had to wait in a line in any election.

Hi Brent,

Thanks for the picture of the four RDCs running together. Now I can justify running all four of mine together too!

I bought three P1K RDCs before Rapido announced theirs. Otherwise I would currently own two Rapido RDCs and no P1Ks. Oh well, I'm still happy.

I can't quite say post hog now can I?

But I can say good scenery is still in the running.

We are a little goofy over here and sometimes cook off bigger chunks than we can chew.  Goofy because a 10:00 at night dinner is not at all unusual here.

Chicken enchiladas just came out of the oven and take 15 minutes to cool to eating temperature.  It takes what it takes, care to join me?

You can see no round waves on top because the tortillas they're making these days crack and don't work.  I got sick of fighting it so I layer it like lasagnaLaugh

Still good though,  same recipeDinner the tortillas are flat in between instead of round around the circumferenceLaugh  And 2 pounds of cheeseDinner  It's okay, I already have my Will filed

Cheers!!

That will be two more than I will have Dave. The container holding my second RDC arrived at Rapido Galactic Headquarters this week so it won't be long until my second one is in my hands. I think I will stop at two......(for now)Laugh

November brings me my F7B and then I have two ten wheelers on order. It is almost like the Rapido book of the month club around here. This pandemic is making me do crazy things.Laugh

Ed, I think I heard Rapido is opening a repair depot stateside to offset shipping. They heard you.

On the International front...

In China, they use a passenger car very similar to the Budd RDC. It is powered by a single 19 liter engine under the floor, and has a second 6.7 liter engine producing AC power for HVAC, lighting, etc.

These run long distances in China at pretty high speeds in trains up to 20 cars long. It is a neat set up. The train gets shorter and shorter along its run.

They are almost silent with all the modern emission control devices.

I was able to ride along on a two-car run in Indiana during the field test of a couple of the units.

Need to zip it now before I violate my NDA.

Zip it!

You need to move some place with more hispanics! We have an endless selection of some of the best pre-made tortillas you can imagine.

Some grocery stores have two full aisles of food imported from Latin America, it is all so yummy.

Can you get these up there? They do not crack.

Hi All,

TF:  IF, you're using corn tortillas for enchiladas, then they must be moistened.  The best way is to steam them.  You can nuke them for 1 minute, but they tend to come out flavorless.  That won't make much difference because the enchiladas will be baked.  Regardless, corn tortillas have to be pre heated to bend without cracking.  FYI, the recommended method by just about everyone is to put the tortillas on the griddle or comal and heat them until there's little brown spots on them and/or slightly burnt edges.  For enchiladas, that might be overkill, but necessary for good tacos.

OR, you can do like Kevin suggested and use flour tortillas, which won't crack before heating.  Your call.
Let us know how your next batch turns out.

Less is more,...more or less!
