Depending on your source, it's either in Millville or Ocean View in Delaware

Thanks, Mr. Beasley. That made finding it much easier, I was looking all over Bedford, Mass!

I didn't do too much digging. The loco is a former  U.S. Navy S100,   0-6-0T from the Brooklyn Navy Yard, then went on to the Wilmington & Western then the Queen Anne Railway. The two coaches are the ubiquitous New Haven 8600s made by Pullman/Osgood-Bradley up in Worcester.

As far as I can see the closest rail line was to the west in Millsboro.

Regards, Ed

Tho forum software won't let me update my profile, so my signature is kind of a static historical entity as well.

There were more railroads here decades ago.  Just down the street from me is Railroad Avenue.  It's flat and straight, but I've been up and down it on my bicycle and there's no sign of former tracks.  The library and historical societies are closed, or I would look there.

I've got to visit the restaurant before they move to see if they have any old info or maps.

Ed's beaten Me!!!Big Smile

I’ll defer to Eds analytical skills but fell that the locomotive and the passenger cars at The Salted Rim, were trucked in. The closest existent railroad would appear to be at Seaford.

I’m thinking, (ignore the burning smell), that the locomotive is an ex USA Transportation Corp S100 class 0-6-0T.

Hi gang!

We chose Michigan for the October Diner because of the fall colours, but we haven't seen many posts related to that. So, here are a few pictures from 2020:

Brent, where's that Nissan when you need it?!?

evenin all,

Not much going on here except rain, We got 2 inches in an hour and a half this morning and so far 3.5 inch total. had a short break but it is raining again.

I won't complain it was getting dry here quickly.

About the cooties, they did not require me to quarantine when my co-worker came down with it, even though I was the one that had worked with him the most. Because we followed the mask and gloves , hand wash thing, unless I showed symptoms they did not quarantine me. I did isolate my self from the rest of the office for a week. ( I have 2 desks, I sat at the one I have in our storage). I stayed away from my parents and I don't go out much except to work anyway. They co- worker was only out 10 days because he had a very light case of it

We still have not seen any of this "over run" of the system. we have returned to almost normal operations. We do have one unit dedicated plus part of a critical unit dedicated.

Been cleaning out the extra radio junk from my basement and been selling quite a bit of it at bargain prices ( most I got for free).

Can you mention the name of the joint, Mr. B?

I'd like to look at it in one of the satelite views.

The current restaurant is The Salted Rim.  Before about 2013, it was The Royal Zephyr.  It's on Atlantic Avenue.  Depending on your source, it's either in Millville or Ocean View in Delaware.

Afternoon Folks!!!!  A good one I hope!

NorthBrit
Due to Covid 19 we are in the vulnerable group and have to be very careful what we do and where we go. In fact we have seen our grandchildren four times since March and then only at a distance. The oldest is 7, the youngest now 4.

I think a lot of us are feeling the same...  I do consider myself lucky that my son and his family live close by and I am considered part of their Group for gathering together.  The lady I am dating has the same safety net with her family and does her best to stay out of harm's way, so we do get together (mostly outside to meet and share time together without masks and such).  I am hoping a good vaccine will be available in the next few months and life can get more back to normal!  Getting to the time of year where bike riding and long walks are not as much fun......

To be honest, I never realized that restaurant had been a train station.  I suppose it could have been moved there, but it's not a building with any particular character.  My guess is that moving that building any significant distance would cost more than building a new one.

One of the dining cars is painted for the old Cape Cod Railway in Massachusetts.  The other says Baltimore and Ohio.  Again, transporting them plus the old steam engine would have been expensive.  My guess is that it was originally a depot or station and the line got abandoned, but they had enough time to bring the train cars in before the tracks were torn up.

I've got to research this.  It's frustrating that in today's information age I can't get much information here on my computer.

John, If you can make a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, and never leave the resort, you could have the best time of your life. The resort is truly a self-contained feature that completely escapes reality. You absolutely can just leave the real world behind while you are there.

I agree.  The last time we were there, we stayed at the Grand Floridian.  It was great, but we spent so little time in the hotel, we won't pay the extra rates again.  My daughters stay in a different resort hotel each time they go.  When the time gets closer, I'll find out which hotel the girls have gotten for us.

When does the album cover get produced with your daughter?

Railroads want to get disused building off of their propoerty.

Sure enough! This is the Barre Plains, Massachusetts, depot where my dad grew up, his dad and brothers all worked for the B&A. The station went up for sale at a $1.00 minimum bid back in '65.

 barreplains60 by Edmund, on Flickr

Alas, dad didn't buy it and move it to Ohio. A local builder got it for the dollar and knocked it down to salvage the bricks. I'll bet a lot of folks have a fireplace in their home made of B&A RR bricks.

Here's my sister and granddad in front of an RS2 with a FULL crew!

Railroads want to get disused building off of their propoerty. BNSF frequently sells the building with the proviso tht you remove it from their property.

Thanks for sharing your good times, Kevin! I hope we are able to have a small gathering with my boys and their great kids when the Holidays get closer.

It was a great time Ed. As of now, I have only seen 2/3 of my daughters since this Covid thing began.

I do not have any grandchildren, but I can imagine that if we did, not seeing them would be devastating to my wife.

I hope you can have your get-together with the family.

When we're there in March, I don't tnink we'll be leaving DisneyWorld to go eat anywhere else.

I did it once, for a big wargaming event. The event was three days long in one of the resort hotels, and my daughter and I went there two days early and stayed one day later.

This was one of the most relaxing times of my life. Almost a whole week submersed into Walt Disney World.

Have fun!

Good morning.  Bacon, eggs, and coffee please.

It snowed last night, but nothing stuck -- it melted as soon as it hit.  That's my kind of snow!

Prayers for all of the people with health probems mentioned in the diner.

Kevin, that restaurant sounds great.  When we're there in March, I don't tnink we'll be leaving DisneyWorld to go eat anywhere else.  My daughters have everything planned -- I'm just along for the rides.

NorthBrit, my wife and I love cruises also, but we have not taken anywhere near as many as you.  You are real experts.

Ken, I hope your daughter's asthma improves.  I would be worried about the virus too if I had that condition.

Edit:  TOP OF THE PAGE!

You can all join me in breakfast.  It's on me.

Good morning all.   An icy cold day here in the UK.     Due to Covid 19  we are in the vulnerable group  and have to be very careful what we do and where we go.  In fact we have seen our grandchildren four times since March and then only at a distance.  The oldest is 7, the youngest  now 4.

We love to go cruising and have been on 60 of them.   Baring our circumstances to the fact we 'struggle' to leave our village a holiday company keeps sending us emails regarding cruises to China.  As Queen Victoria once said "We are not amused."

Ah well!  Back to railroad modeling.

I really need a steak, loaded baked potato, and lobster macaroni and cheese!

OK, I swapped out the loaded baked potato for mashed potatoes, but I got my steak and lobster macaroni & cheese!

It was an amazing and delicious meal. I have not had a good night out in so long.

And... I got to be with my baby! Look at how cute we are in our Corona Masks! The look of 2020:

She is almost as old as her mother was when we met, and it is unbelievable how much she looks exactly like her mother. Our middle daughter is a copy of me, and the baby is a copy of my wife.

I am so lucky.

Now I get to have a 15 day quarantine.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.

Thanks for the concern for my daughter health. She is a asthmatic and is having real problems. She has coughed so much one of her rib's is out of places aagin. Sadly it is not the first time. Her blood oxgen level was down to 96%. She is back on steroides and muscle relaxer's so it is helping the rib pain. Monday she is getting tested again for covid, I think this is her 3rd time. With her health problems I understand her being paranoid.

Trains hate my guts tonight! Only good news is I have resat the PRR Sharks abbress back to 3 and they with both run togather. After that things just went down into the ash pit! Bang Head Nether the PRR GG1 nor the PRR Sharks can get the PRR Heavy Weights around the bench. Not the car falut because I added a Reefer between the led coach which I have never used before.

Ok, I will run the Bessimers, they worked fine! But some how my RS 3 was in reverse and hit a parked freight train? Whistling After that I was done! Bang Head

Time to take Dirk out so later.

Good Afternoon,

Another very cool da here, only 32F.

Using rhe tablet so spelling might be a little off

Go the pacific back  from the brass guru. He fixed the tender cnnector so now goes around 18" radius just fine. I have  about the cost of a new Rapido steam in this engine but it is worth it to me. Rapido is supposed to do a J4e but it will be years if ever and time isn't on my side. Anyway I doubt if their's will be any better. The piping detail on brass is amazing.

Brent, I spent 1 year in Coquitlam from summer 1964 to 1965, My parents house was a twin of the one you pictured,. Dad's business venture didn't work out so we moved to Manitoba. My last 3 years of high school were in 3 different provinces.

Yard work is coming along. Have to get the fish out of the pond before it freezes.

We have a restaurant in town that has an old steam engine on display, plus two parlour cars available for dining.  There used to be another restaurant there, I believe, but that was before I got here.  I saw one reference that said the building was a former railroad station.  I looked at satellite photos, but can't see any evidence of train tracks around.  I know it's been quite some time since trains ran in many of the local towns.  We have some trains nearby, but they mostly deliver covered hoppers of chicken feed to to poultry producers around here.  The chickens go out by truck.

I started looking at this because the restaurant has announced it's moving.  The owner said she would "miss the trains,"  so I assume they aren't going to move them.  It would be a huge undertaking with no tracks anymore.  I would imagine they lease the building and the trains are part of the property.  Their new home will be a restaurant that never reopened this year, perhaps a Covid victim.  It's bigger and has more parking.

I hope the new tenant is another small local restaurant, and they keep the train car dining.  It's a good location and even now the parking lot is usually full.  The current restaurant is an Americanized Mexican restaurant.  I like it, but the GF doesn't, so we don't go there often.

They make tacos the way I like them, ground beef in a spicy chili sauce, with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion of a crisp corn tortilla.  A lot of restaurants have done the California cop-out, serving fish tacos on soft flour tortillas with some kind of salad dressing sauce.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

We are going to see my youngest daughter today for her birthday.

Her fiance had to fly to Orlando to do some sound engineering for a new album, and she is going to be on the cover art. This is the first real work they have had in a couple of months, so this is good.

We are taking her out to eat at Charley's on International Drive. This is one of my favorite steakhouses in Florida. We have not been to a sit down restaurant, or had a steak, since the quarantine began.

We will quarantine ourselves for another 15 days when we get back. We have all the supplies on hand already. This will be our third post-exposure quarantine since this began, but I need to see my baby. L.A. is too far away, so if she is in Orlando, I am going!

Also, I really need a steak, loaded baked potato, and lobster macaroni and cheese!
