Looks like I'm the first one in this morning.  I'll fire up the coffee and the griddle.  The smell of bacon always brings people in.

Busy day of meetings at work today.  Yuck!  Trying to get caught up so I can take next week off and all these meetings aren't helping.  I'm long overdue on vacation and have to burn some up before the company takes it away.  My department is also short staffed right now (and for the foreseeable future), so no help for me.  Oh, and no working over either.  Let's see, how do you do 60 hours of work in 40 hours?  Oh well.

Cheers guys!

Edit:  Top of the page!  All the bacon you can eat is on me!

Good Morning All,

68F and sunny out. It will be hot and humid again today with the chance of popup showers later. I'll have some of that bacon with cheese and an egg bagel please Zoe.   Thanks Mike!

W..k has become hectic again with the first trailer going out in three months today. Mid Ohio but I'm not going. I'm back here beavering away on my KW toterhome and trailer plus the other two semi trailers. it has been excruciating getting things ordered delivered and that is some of the thrash. What used to take a couple of days to get can now take two weeks. At least with delivery problems holding up parts I can still leave at a reasonable hour.

We send a trailer to Indy to pick up a car that has been getting carbon fibre work done on Friday and it will meet us at Watkins Glen with the other three trailers and the same weekend the toterhome and gooseneck trailer is scheduled to go to New Hampshire with three cars.

Speaking of racing, I was moved by the solidarity shown Bubba Wallace by his fellow drivers yesterday. One of my fabricators is ex Petty Enterprises and from his experiences and having met Richard Petty a couple of times along with a smattering of other cup drivers, I'm not surprised but still, moved.

I hope you all are on the road to healing yourselves - physically and mentally. It's been a tough couple of weeks in here.

Ken - you have my sympathies with Dirk. Our big mutt hurt her left rear (ligament strain) and the recovery is going slowly. She's still a pup but at a solid 65 lbs (Rottie Pit mix) she is a load to carry.

Not much on the layout front though I am still doing the transition between the back of the layout and the backdrop. Scraps of foam and sculptamold in place and primed. Once that sets and dries I can start scenicing (is that a word?).

Back to it in the shop.   Ciao, J.R.

Thumbs UpThumbs Up!!!  It is good that for every low life type out there it seems to be that there are some good people to "clean up" after them.  I wish we as a "Human Race" could somehow get over our misconceptions and hatred!!!

So I guess Watkins Glenn is opening up?  Probably not for fans on site?

Good morning.  Mike, thanks for the bacon.  That's an everyday treat for me.

Ken, I hope Dirk's leg is OK.  When we go to the doctor, our bill is paid by Medicare and insurance.  When the dog goes to the vet, we pay.  A lot.

Garry, those trestles are amazing.  I'm also amazed how long they last.

MLC, your southern command house looks great.  If I remember, you said it was in Mississippi.  I know southern Mississippi has a lot of cabins and houses that are winter homes for northerners.

Dave, I thought the same thing watching that movie.  It looked like someone had dumped a trash can on the floor for the worker to clean up.

Kevin, I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of the finished garage.  I finished my garage walls and shelves project, but living in the north, I'm still undecided on how to deal with the garage floor.  I don't think tiles will work here, but I'm checking into the epoxy finishes that some up here have.

Have a good day, everyone.

Kevin: That color is Schoolboy Blue. We thought it fit perfect as well.

York1: Yes the Southern command in in Mississippi ( near Oxford)

I still need to paint the back porch floor and put another coat on the front porch floor and ceiling. for some reason my arms are sore.

I got to set out on the back porch and listen to the birds, and watch the wild life, listen to the neighbor drive his truck with no muffler and bad transmission from his house ( on one side of me) to the crack heads on the other side of me. Not sure why he can't walk to get his crack.

I did mow down a lot of the "yard" so it looks better. I need to do some more.

Yummmmm, bacon.  We have taken to getting our bacon, sausage and eggs from the local butcher, farm stand and our mailman, who also raises chickens and pigs.  We had great thick sausage today, about an inch thick.  I'm not going back to supermarket sausage or bacon.  Fresh made is so much better.

Good Afternoon,

A nice day here, sunny and warm. Time to mow the grass.

Well I went and did it, as in buying another brass loco. It is a model of a CP Royal Hudson but in the paint that was used before they got the royal warrant. Basically the same but the railings are black and the CP logo on the cab is different. This is from the last run Samhongsa made of this loco and indeed the last run for Van Hobbies in 1992. It is new, never been run so will be interesting when I get it. The detail appears to be absolutely amazing from the photos. I have a few locos on consignment at the LHS so that will cover some of the cost.

Ken, hope Dirk is feeling better. Hard when your little buddy has a problem.

Time to do something.

There is a drastic difference between supermarket meat and locally processed.  There is a family run meat packing plant a couple towns over from where I live.  The absolute best bacon and hams around.  Their hot dogs have won numerous awards.  Even their ground beef is noticeably tastier than the equivalent at the local supermarket.  I love going there, but there lies the problem too.  I rarely get out of there for under $100.  I usually cringe when I hear the total, but when I get home and start enjoying my purchases I always swear it was worth it.

Finally got a haircut today, by appointment only.  The shop is a combined hair salon and barber shop that was owned by a married couple.  The husband died a couple years ago and the wife carried on doing hairstyling.

She was on a tear because her 11:30 am customer called at the last minute and said she would be late because she overslept. It's been a while since I slept later than 9 am, and then it was because I worked nights.

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk The Collar Of Shame and a dog treat.

Work Sucked Rail Spikes. So that is covered. Sigh

Dirk Pip Front. Well the good news is his leg is fine! What is causing the problem is a sore on the bottom of a foot. We got meds for him and need to buy the Collar Of Shame so he cannot chews on the foot, Vet was out of his sizes. He has all wise been a foot chewer, so did he cause the problem, or is the sore the reason he chews his feet?

I am beat so later, Ken and Dirk say's Woof, Woof!

Good Morning!

Not yet lunchtime, so I´ll just have some coffee, please!

My left eye is improving, although slowly. I have too admit that I did not completely refrained from reading, as I was told, but I kept it to a minimum. Incredible, how much reading one does during the day!

We have found a new house, which is smaller, still nice, and a lot cheaper! We will take a look at it on Thursday next week and are prepared to buy it on the spot, if no major structural or damp issues are to be found. A quaint little place - see for yourself!

The house is located 3 miles north of Haderslev (Hadersleben), a town of 55k people, with all the medical services and shopping facilities we need. I talked to the real estate agent and she confirmed, that the seller is willing to sell also to non-Danish people! Hopefully, it´ll work out this time! The house needs some freshening up, but not much more than a coat of paint!

Happy times!

Ulrich,

The house looks great, good luck.

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. I am doing a replacement of PCs in patient rooms in a close dunit of our hospital. We have to keep one unit available just in case he you know what rears its ugly head, which we doubt. I had to replace / do some troubleshooting on emergency call boxes in our parkin garage. It seems since we moved over to IP phones the computer services department has taken over having to deal with phones. I am the only on on the team that ever dealt with analog phones. ( some of our stuff has to remain analog, like patent rooms because the phones are basically "disposable") So I get called on to do that kind of stuff. we had a fax machine that had quit working yesterday. I fond a broken connection on a "66 block" in our telecom room. One lady on our team is so intimidated by all the wires. I said you are only looking for one pair, just 2 wires.

Good morning, everyone.  It looks like a beautiful day today.  The walk on the trail this morning was about as good as it can get.

Ulrich, good luck on this one!

Not much going on here.  It will be a slow day.  I have several movies recorded; it may be a good day to watch those.  I have several outdoor projects to do, but I don't feel like starting them.

Good morning ....

Regarding bacon, there is a local producer of bacon, ham, and sausage here in our neck of the woods. They sell locally or mail order. The bacon is fabulous, and it has won several national awards. You can order it hickory smoked, applewood smoked, or maplewood smoked. They sell peppercorn bacon which is their best in my opinion. It has peppercorns embedded in it. Once I ate that, I do not even want other kinds of bacon.

Ulrich .... That house sounds good. Impressive video. Best wishes to you with it.

MLC .... Ounds like your work can get interesting.

Everybody ...... Have a good day.

Today marks 37 years of married life. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Congratulations, Richard!

It´ll be our 36th anniversary in a month and two days! These days, that´s something rather rare! When Petra and I exchanged our vows, we took and still take the "for richer or poorer, for better or worse" part verious serious. We have been through richer times and now we are nearly poor, we have seen better days and gone through pretty bad times in terms of health and even marital bliss. Yet we are together, as one, not to be divided by anything other than death.

Happy times!

My wife and I went to a waterfront restaurant to celebrate the sale of our home.  We were seated at the end of the pier.

We saw 4 boats come and go with 1 to 3 300 HP outboard engines.  Boat cleats are now retractable.
The view, the breeze were excellent, food was just OK.  It was a pretty night.

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk half a dog treat.

Work was quite. Not good for sales but no outright idiots like yesterday.

Charter /Specturm or what the heck they are calling them self today! Found out Fathers day our phone was not working again. They are coming out Thursday to fix it. I needed to pay my bill on the 23rd (yesterday) I was going to do it when I got home. Dunce Got home then I remember the phone does not work. Dunce Called them today from work to make the payment and get the late fee waved, should be easy right? Whistling NO! They want $5.00 to take the payment with a Rep. I was told he could wavie either the late fee or the $5.00 fee but not both. Bang Head Give me a break, if the dang phone was working, I would not be late taking to you! Confused

Ulrich Sure hope this works out for you this time!

Dirk Pip Front He is doing better. Sat out with him a little after work and limped just a little. Glad it was not his leg, he loves sitting in his lawn chair beside me.

Later, Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof.

Evnin folks,

The ole Saturn has been throwing random missfire codes for a while now.

Missifre cylinder 1, I looked for vacuum leaks, changed egr valve, changed plug wires ( plugs were fairly new )  It was a very random event, Mainly when traveling on interstate going up a hill, engine would stumble and on came  the Check engine light. Then it would be fine for a while.

So I decide to try running a bit of Seafoam thru the intake to clean out the gunk. I am letting the engine slowly drink and I notice that spark plug wire 1 is jumping and making a ticking sound. (so is number 4, cyl1 and 4 are on the same coil). You could grab the wire and feel the pulse of the spark. ( not getting shocked). So I say "Self, something is not right." So I find that spark plug 1 is way loose. no wonder it was missfiring and I had no power I basically was having no compression on cyl1 ( or not much anyway) .

I pulled those plugs ( 4 was slightly loose as well.) and put new ones in.  When I got to plug 4 the dang crimp let loose on the plugwire and came off. All the auto parts stores closed in 5 mins..... So since the wire just came un crimped and had not burned off, I was able to re crimp it ( plug wires were not that old)

Test drive, wow I have power back in the car, my gas milage should go up.  this has to have been this was since not long after changingg plugs last time. ( almost 2 years ago and has been slowly getting worse. )

We had a misfire on our 135 hp Johnson outboard motor. My dad was in charge of maintaining it. I only used it for a couple of weeks each summer. He couldn't figure it out so I decided to have a look. It turned out that the spark plug wires weren't pushed far enough onto the plugs. He said he didn't want to risk breaking the plugs off.Bang HeadGrumpy

In reality, it was a wonder that the motor ran at all. I give credit to Outboard Marine for designing an ignition system tough enough to get the spark to jump not one, but two gaps every time the ignition fired.

Hey guys!

It's time to start thinking about where to move the Diner to for July. If you leave it up to me, heaven knows where we will end up! You could be risking going back to Canada!!! You could end up in Newfoundland where salt cod it just about all they eat!! Okay, maybe not. Being in Canada three months out of four might wear out my welcome!

So, where do you want to go? Where were your best railroading experiences and memories? What's the place that you have always wanted to model?

While I'm at it, does anyone else want to start the July Diner? I'm beginning to feel like one of TF's post hogs.Smile, Wink & GrinLaughLaugh

Cheers!!

Good Morning!

I woke up at 4am this morning, just as the sun began to rise. We have only a little less than 7 hours of night time, which will be shortened by another 1/2 hr. once we move further up north.

It´s 8.30am now and I am dead tired.

I know where I will be in July, at least at the beginning. In terms of railroading, Denmark, while not exactly a wasteland, has very little to offer. It´s a small country, with just a little over 5 mio. people. Maybe worth a visit at a later date!

Happy times!

Hi Ulrich,

If all goes well you will have neither the time nor the energy to host the Diner so don't worry about it. You have done more than your share in the past!

I hesitate to ask since you haven't said anything, but how goes the latest house deal? Also, how is your eye?

Cheers!!
