I don't think that Jim was referring to the Milky Way. If you look at picture you will see what looks like a galaxy in the upper right quarter. It is not very big but it is certainly larger than it would appear to the naked eye. I wonder if the shot was taken through a telescope?

The galaxy in the top picture is in the right place to be Andromeda but I'm not certain. I would have to ask by dad who was a navigator during WWII. Unfortunately that is no longer possible.
I used to love standing on the front lawn at night at the cottage while he pointed out all the constellations. I should have paid closer attention.

I just have to chalk up yesterday as a really bad day for me and just leave it at that. It started as I accidentally through away something and as I leaned over the recycling bin to grab the bag I cracked my ribs and every thing went down hill from there. Now it hurts to breath. When I saw something I read here I over reacted.... my bad.

Yes... I will have my 11 by 22 train room.
As of 2017 I have not had a layout. My previous layout was in a spare bedroom.
The new layout will occupy what is currently the master bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet, and hall closet.
Right now I am building the new master bedroom suite from two other bedrooms, the front bathroom, and about 35% of the living room. This will make my wife very happy. Our current master bedroom is just terrible.
Without N-95 masks, work has come to a slow-down on the master bedroom part, but I am going all-out on the garage.

It's dark and rainy. That means it's a perfect spring day on the plains.
We also got our orioles back this week. The robins have also been eating at the oriole feeder.
Our church is going to partially open this weekend. You have to call for reservations! They will spread us out. Who would have ever dreamed we would have to make reservations to attend church!?
Watching old movies today. I'm starting with Fallen Angel. It's a good one for a dark rainy day.
I finally know someone who had the virus. A former student and her father both had it, and have completely recovered. Stangely, no one else in their family got it.

My bottom screen pop-up ads have gone crazy today. Every one of them is for Septic Tank cleaning services, Septic Tank products, Septic Tank replacement, or Septic Tank parts and supplies. I think I have seen 15-20 different ads all related to Septic Tanks.
I do not have a septic tank, and as far as I know, I have never searched or looked at septic tanks online.
At least the ads for roll-off dumpsters are gone. That was a once-in-a-lifetime rental, so those ads were useless.

The GF has been putting away stuff upstairs, and came across some facemasks. Some of them were actually those N95 ones. No idea what they were from, but probably an old home improvement project.
Right now the kitten is at the vet. She was a rescue cat, and had parasites when we got her. Looks like she's got one again. It doesn't seem to bother her any. She never goes outside, so she probably had this all along.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I haven't had any..... Oh, ABP says there are 28 there, but I don't see them.
Aaaahhhhhh! I am dealing with my poor sister at the moment. On top of everything else, she has a broken tooth! She will be getting that pulled Friday Morning, then we will go to her house have a quick lunch (I'll bring my own as she doesn't have much around her hopuse that I consider edible...), then head to Rochester to take her to her surgeon's Appt. to see how her leg is healing. Then I will drop off a pile of boxes containing "stuff" for the NMRA Division that I have unburied over the last couple of weeks, and finally, hopefully, stop over at my Lady Friend's House to introduce my sister to her.... Will be a busy day, that I hope goes without some major "glitch", should I say.

I see that now Dave, I was thinking he was refering to the vertical system top to bottom in the photo. I stayed on a small island out in the middle of the South Pacific once where the stars were amazing, also I was on a 50' sail boat off the coast of Australia for a few days and that was another memorable few nights of seeing the universe in all her glory.
I was working on the water tower when I was really tired and I kept saying I should not be, anyway I lost a pully for the rigging into the twilight zone so will have to fabricate something. If I had not been tired I would have remembered to put some thread through it so it could not warp out of this dimension.

I have been runnin the new FP7s a lot, sweeeeeeet! I am glad I got them. I will do the pull test soon to see how they pull. Something tells me they are going to do well. My BLI C&O 2-10-4 is my best puller and the Royal Hudsons are about the same so they my be dethroned from top spot.
A bit of excitment around here yesterday. Deadpool 2 was released to Netflix and there is online poster/add to celebrate that. It has the kid front and center with one guy standing behind him. They are in the yellow mutant prisoner jumpsuits wearing the collars that inhibit their mutant powers. I can't post it because of the NDA but keep an eye out. It is very cool. People were contacting us all day saying "have you seen this?"
Did some killer bike time this morning BP was 99/62 HR48 and I feel great except for my sore back, don't know what I did but I think it is train time.

Bathroom Faucet. I think it is finally fixed after 4 trys, crossing my finguers on that one. The part that was bad was called the Stem on my old faucet. This time I took the old part with me, told the wife the water would be off till I got home. She bottled 3 gallons of water to be safe, I was gone say 45 minutes. Reason I did not use the faucet shut off valve is every time I use one, it leaks. Main cut off is only 15 years old, the other ones are 51 years old.
Time to sit out with Dirk, so later Ken and Dirk say's I love the shut down Daddy, Woof, Woof!

I guess not. Likely will end up with an implant. I had a bicuspid crack right in the middle several years ago. My dentist decided it was going to be best to pull it. She did and put a temporary post in , and built a tooth on that. About 2 months later I went to the dental surgeon and he put the screw post in my mouth and then I got the "crown" on that.... Expensive but took care of the problem.
Oh Ken, congrats on not smoking for a year!!! Bet you smell and feel a lot better for it!
Gotta get the rest of my 5 miles in this evening. Did run the neighborhood path I am using twice today out in the icky, grey, cold, sprinkly Spring air. Will get the rest of the distance done inside. I did get some other walking in so I only have a couple thousand steps to go...
My house passed inspection, almost. We have 5.4% Radon. It's going to cost around $1,000 to take care of that, plus the sump pump may not last till closing, so I need to replace that too.
My SiL is trying to sell her condo. She has a packrat next door who has his patio filled with stuff. She had a contract, but on inspection, they sited things like a couple inches of caulk missing on a window. The deal fell through.
If Sheldon is still lurking, maybe he can correct me, but I think the valves with ball valves and straight handles, don't have packing around the stem, like valves with a circular handle, many of which have leaked for me. If the handle is in line with the pipe it is open, if 90 degrees, it is closed.

For the birders among us, Ontario offers Point Pelee National Park. Point Pelee is one of the greatest birding spots in North America. During the spring migration it is possible to see more than 100 species in just a couple of days.
The tip is the furthest point south in Canada, and it is the closest point to the US on the lake. Birds are funneled into a very narrow path in order to make the trip across Lake Erie.
