This got "modified" .... just a little.
And, this one got a "bit of bashing".
Not exactly sure what this was "supposed" to look like.... but it looks like this now.
Can't remember what I did here...
More "modified anything please.
Rust...... It's a good thing !
IAIS 6988 is a Chinese locomotive that has been Americanized, and the same is true of my model. It started out as a Bachmann China QJ and I removed the shroud around the stack, built a new feedwater heater (since the molded on on wasn't very good and wasn't going to survive the shroud removal process anyway), plugged the old headlight mounts on the front, added an American headlight, class lights, bell, and whistle, and added a bit of plumbing that wasn't really visible before, and a bunch of various other details, plus of course the paint job and custom decals

tbdanny My old number 3 (now number 7) started as a Bachmann On30 Forney: It's had the rear end chopped off and replaced with a scratchbuilt tender, and the front shortened to make it an 0-4-0. Please show me more modified engines.

Wow! You're very talented with these scratchbuilds and kitbashes. If I may go off topic from the thread for a moment, how did you scratchbuild your tender? What materials and techniques did you use? I've been thinking about building an auxiliary tender for one of my steamers for quite some time now, but I've never been entirely sure of the best way to go about it. I'd also like to say that I've really enjoyed all the photos everyone has posted so far. Keep 'em coming!

Here's an old Akane USRA 2-10-2 (the tender is from Bachmann)...
...and here's the same loco, re-worked into a pretty-decent representation of one of 10 that the CNR bought, used, from the B&A...
I had a couple of Bachmann's nice-running 10 Wheelers...
...but thought them a little too old fashioned -looking for my late '30s-era railroad, so upgraded them to look like this...
This IHC Mogul, based on an Espee prototype, I think, got dolled-up a bit when I first got it...
...but later got a full makeover...
I don't have a photo of this Proto USRA 0-8-0 "stock" form, as I had intended to get rid of it due to it's extremely limited pulling abilities, but after addressing that issue, I stripped it down completely, lengthening the front of the frame to accommodate the CNR-style front end treatment, and completely replaced all of the undersize piping to match a photo of a CNR prototype. I also managed to add weight to it, correcting the otherwise anemic performance...
