Judy and I just got done playing one of those old DVD gamesTongue Tied  Neither one of us is very good at them but I won.

I can relate to you on that plugged drain very well Dave.  I helped my buddy Jeff with his new bathroom he was putting in the basement.  I gave him one of my plumbers at cost of course, he is my friend.

The toilet drain was moved by my plumber.  The next day my friend Jeff installed the tile on the floor.  The next day he grouted the floor and reinstalled the toilet.

To make a long story short, Jeff can be like me sometimes.  He was so excited about his new bathroom the beers started to flow.  Beers can be like Pringles sometimes when you're happy,  "Once you pop you can't stop"Whistling  He somehow knocked a beer can down the sewer hole while he was tiling.

After his first flush and the toilet didn't work, he got a hold of me and blamed it on my plumber.  After my plumber went back over there, pulled the toilet and found the problem.  My plumber wasn't very happy with me to say the least and I wasn't very happy with JeffLaugh

Different story, same scenario, same end result.  Jeff is still my friend but it took a little while after thatLaugh

My brother Richard installed a bathroom in his basement many years ago. His young son Chris helped. They had to cut into the concrete floor to install the drain and Chris did the repairs to the floor on his own. Unfortunately he decided to clean up the excess concrete patching material by flushing it down the newly installed drain thinking it would just wash away. Of course it didn't so the new drain was plugged almost solid right from the get go. It took Richard days to figure out why the toilet wouldn't flush.

They got it right the second time!

Dave

We had someone look at our home.  Their offer was extremely disappointing.

On the plus side, I lost my Iphone and found it at the local park, where I was walking the dog.  If you have an Iphone, make sure Find My Phone is activated.

P.S.   Moving drains over are usually anywhere from 800 to1200 per drain up here   Can be more, may give you some incentive.

Reminds me of the prep-work I did to make my layout room ready. My laundry area was against a basement wall, this would not do.

So, a concrete saw and jackhammer came into play to put a new drain in for the laundry. My nephew was on-hand to help and comments often "be careful when uncle Ed asks for help on his model railroad — you might need knee pads and ear plugs!"

That was twenty-five years ago. Surprise

Model Railroading IS fun!

Still cannot get a plumber to come out and give me a quote to move the toilet flange and tub drain.

I am so sore.

I bet you are, you ain't no spring chicken any more kidLaugh

Kevin, moving floor drains over isn't too very difficult.  You just need to rent a demolition hammer and borrow your wife's little garden shovel to shovel the sand.

The plumbing code is the exact opposite of our 2% maximum grade in model railroading.  Quarter inch per foot minimum slope for drains.

Dry set the pipe and put little permanent marker dashes on the joints before you PVC purple primer and glue it.

It is legal for a homeowner to do his own plumbing if you are being inspected.  At least that's the case up hereWink

P.S.   Moving drains over are usually anywhere from 800 to1200 per drain up hereTongue Tied   Can be more, may give you some incentive.

Last I checked, I like $2,000 dollars or moreLaugh

So, JR, what was the meat in those tacos?  the same "specialty" meat the Puerto Rican's used?

Eating in Louisiana, you never asked that question.  You just enjoyed the taste.

Will they have to break up the concrete to move the drains?  Gets expensive.

Edit:  Top of the Page!

Since it's still happy hour in the central time zone, I'll buy another round for the entire diner crowd.

I have been working my tail off on this house demolition.

The windows will be installed tomorrow. Still cannot get a plumber to come out and give me a quote to move the toilet flange and tub drain.

Ordered a new tub from Kohler.

I am so sore.

Mike,

Charlies was an approved eatery but one still does not investigate these things too closelyWink.  Our base had a sign outside the mess : "--- days without a fatality".

I love waffles though. Not so much waffle house as I can feel my arteries hardening when I walk through the door. Thanks Steven.

Still cleaning in the shop. Today we toted 4 barrels of scrap metal to the recyclers (junk) yard. Got $56 back. Yahoo.

Layout - still laying out roads for the downtown area.

Garry - I envy your work. Still figuring out basic scenery stuff and you get to do TOFC ramps. Nice.              Back to it.    Ciao, J.R.

On Okinawa there was a place in Kadena called Charlies Tacos. They had great tacos

So, JR, what was the meat in those tacos?  the same "specialty" meat the Puerto Rican's used?  Whistling  The wife was stationed in Puerto Rico, while in the Navy, and she told me all about the tacos they sold there.  She actually really like them. Indifferent

Today one of novices made his first vows. Just the monks were present, but then our liturgies are always well done. Fahittas were on the menu, I had beef w onion and peppers. Tasty. Ate more that my diet would have liked but what to do about that. At least I skipped the dessert.

. . .Yesterday I picked up an order at Lowes. I phoned the store from a designated parking spot and a few minutes later they put the order in the trunk. Worked great. We will be testing a similar setup at Walmart on Friday for groceries. . .

We have used this delivery method at Best Buy (new TV) and at Fry's (local Kroger affiliate). Worked well at both places.

Good Afternoon,

Another cool day here with a high of 32F but it is sunny. Hopefully it will warm up as forecast by the weekend. It should be about 50F this time of year. I want to pump out and clean the pond but it is still frozen.

Yesterday I picked up an order at Lowes. I phoned the store from a designated parking spot and a few minutes later they put the order in the trunk. Worked great. We will be testing a similar setup at Walmart on Friday for groceries. We don't normally shop there but they are offering the service. The following week we will see how it works with a Superstore grocery order. That is a Canadian chain. We have decided to seperate frozen stuff into a different order as the last time we brought groceries home it was all packed together and getting the frozen stuff out quickly to wipe down before going into the house, was a real pain.

Well I have the N scale layout running. I had to fix a few wiring problems and also clean all the track. I cleaned loco wheels too. The Trainmaster is now pulling a freight around. I like that loco for the brute power of it and it looks the part too. My RDC wasn't running so I pulled the shell and found the contact strips weren't making contact with the decoder board. Some capton tape fixed that.

Not much else going on here. We expect to be under stay at home orders until at least June. Seems to be working.

Well time for some lunch.

Steve O .. Thanks very much for the non skid pancakes.  .. The bigger the waffle; the batter it is. If we were in Southern California we could go to Sandy Eggo. Whistling

while social distancing , I made a small TOFC (piggyback) ramp facility on my layout. I now have scenery on the entire layout except for staging tracks on a lower level.

Lions would love Waffle House.  You get to eat great food, and you get to see the waitresses interact with the cook.  They don't always get along.

Let's see, Taco Tuesday was a hit, we need another alliterative lunch special. How about Waffle Wednesday?

Everyone's still healthy and happy as can be expected here at the Otte house. The cats still haven't figured out how to deal with me working from home; the one who constantly wants to sit on my lap doesn't understand why I keep pushing her off, and the one who likes my spot on the couch doesn't understand why I won't let it be his spot.

Happy Hump Day and stay healthy, stay happy, and stay home.

Honey, honey

What is a Jimbo?

Do you realize it's been 5 weeks since they shut the world down?

Has it been 5 weeks already Jim?

Yes, and I heard on the news this morning they're going to keep it closed for another month.

What a shame Jim, I heard a lot of these businesses already stated they will not be able to re-open when this thing is over.

I see Sonic, that modern-day version of A&W is still open and serving food honey.

Yes, I had a cheeseburger, fries and a vanilla milkshake there yesterday Jim.

And they're six feet apart from each other.  I think these other bar-restaurants should have a parking lot company come paint numbers in front of every other parking space.  Then they could operate just like Sonic.

That's a great idea Jim.  They could also have the phone company come install more phone lines so people can order right from their car with their cash card.

Yes that way people could come park one space over, socialize with their buddy and have a beer and a burger, I do think tacos might be a little messy for the car though.

Yes, I think that would work Jim, after all, people are social and do like to see thier friends.  It would be nice if the cook's, bartenders and waitresses could get back to work as well.

This staying home crap has got to start coming to an end somehow honey.

Good evening from the beautiful West Coast where the sun is just setting. I would say it hit 20c today, it was perfect.

The kid and I just polished off over five pounds of wings tonight, I don't want to know how much time on the bike that will need but we had fun in out gluttony. I never worry about the occasional mass pigout as I know the burn will happen. The wife just rolled her eyes.Laugh

Last evening and this morning I removed a large 2' diameter stump in the lawn, I hate mowing around things and I am glad it is finally gone.

My kids got their laptops in grade four at school and started to learn coding the same year. It seems the kids now have caught on to home schooling without missing a beat, they all get their laptops so why not. Maybe school will evolve from this event. My kids have not suffered any ill effects at University other than my daughter not being able to do labs. They do miss the social part of it though.

The movie biz is chomping at the bit to get back into production and they have been pestering the kid for commitments he is not prepared to give as no one has any idea of a timeline. The money is so good it is hard to turn down but he is also getting calls from corporations that are head hunting him as he goes into his forth year. He will land on his feet running I am sure of that. A good education and the knowledge it provides is power.

My Daughter is thinking of doing more movie work, she only ever did one and that was the movie Wonder, she hated the biz but the money is so good she is rethinking her previous opinions and may take another stab at it. Her one go at it was a story and a half for a newby as she spent much time with Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson on set which for her first experience was intimidating to say the least. That is her in the black dress, there are no set photos of her that are any good.

Ray, putting on 10 pounds would put me into Def con whatever! Five pounds is my major alarm setting and nothing takes more of my attention that dealing with that. I do tend to worry about losing weight over gaining it though, so usually I need to eat more.

I need a 1' x 3' piece of 5/8 ceiling drywall ( sheetrock) for the bathroom project and it looks lke I will have to buy a whole sheet just to get my little piece.Sigh GRRR! I will just put an add on FB and someone can come get the rest of it and take it off my hands. i am always amazed at what people come to get that I was prepared to take to the transfer station.

I get a great deal of satisfaction out of the fact the wife, kids and I get along so well after being couped up together during this event. We have great discussions on everything under the Sun that last hours, it has been most enjoyable. The wife and I have been together 25 years and have never had a fight, rational thinking may be boring but facts are hard to argue against.

Time may ravage what man has built, but long before the white man and long before the wheel the green dark forest was too silent to be real. How many thousands of years have those mountains looked just the same.

Image may contain: sky, tree, mountain, outdoor and nature

Time for a movie. I watched To Kill A Mockingbird last night, good movies are far and few between these days.

All the best to all.

Good grief, how can you guys eat that stuff?  One thing worse than meatloaf is recycled food.

Twice as nice second time round!!!Dinner

Though I can’t handle eating those hard-shell tacos, messy things, the shell crumbles and I end up with most of filling in my beard!! Crumbs stored for latter are acceptable, but not drippy ingredients!!

We are having lentil tacos for dinner tonight. Same as ground beef tacos, but you add the taco seasoning to cooked lentils instead of beef. Muy bueno.

Speaking of Taco Tuesday, seeing Steve O's tacos made me hungry for some.

This is my fave. Carne asada with onions and cilantro.  I also like Mexican cheese on mine.

Yummm!
