The gateway error keeps knocking out my post.

The board games I played where Monopoly, Parcheesi, Life, Risk, Cribbage and Wari, a Carribean board game.

Had a fist fight with the shower ceiling light. The light fixture died and the new light base did not match the previous paint or previous drywall repair around the light.  Spackle-sand x4 to get it to look decent.  I would not make it as a drywall guy.

Good news on the house front. After some back and forth, we have what we consider a fare offer.  Maybe we could have gotten more if we replaced the carpet and refinished the floor, but who knows what will become of the housing market.

Had a virtural appointment with my internist.  He said 5 weeks ago he would have said the idea of a televisit was rediculous.  He also said 50% of all ER patients were to rule out corona.  He has seen 3 patients he thought had it but they tested negative.  There is a significant false positive rate.  He advised me to stay locked down.

I'm going to save this post in case it gets lost

I forgot, no coronavirus money has hit my bank account.  You can go to IRS Get My Money, but it only says  "we don't know, maybe you didn't file taxes for the last 2 years"

Evening Railfans

A bit of a bender last night but I still got up at 6 cuz I have extra work in the building here which is nice.

In between dry time on the few projects I'm working on I worked on some of my modeling on the glass table today.

There's a problem with that and I hope I got it solved, if or if not I will post it on Weekend Photo Fun.

Judy and I cooked up some really good chicken enchiladas last night.  She said they're the best ones we've had in months.

With salt knocked out of her diet I didn't have the heart to tell her I used Better Than Bouillon for the good-tasting nectar that went into the chicken last nightWhistling

I just got done with that awful thing called wxxk a half hour ago.  I'm going to kick back in my living room a while and talk to you guys soon.

When I was in college on Sunday we would play Avalon Hill board games like Battle of the Bulge, Africa Corp, Stalingrad, Guadalcanal, Jutland and Midway among others.

Does anybody else here remember playing D&D or other RPGs as a youngster? Or still do?

I think I may be too old -- those weren't around when I was younger, and by the time it got popular, I did not know anyone who was a player.  Risk was the big game for us in college.

I think Kevin is the big game player in the Diner.

Glad that worked out for you, Jim. You should be able to find a "preferences" menu in Flickr so you can remove your last name from the photo link. I just use "Edmund" for mine. As you say, Less is More. I at least try to keep a little bit of anonymity on the web.

Ed -- that's a great picture of the Canadien.  It's too bad, but those kind of pictures are no longer possible in the U.S. with Amtrak's ruling on nothing being open while trains are moving.

Yep, things sure have changed. One time I was riding the Pennsylvanian and as we approached Horseshoe Curve the conductor said, "I see you have a camera, would you like to take pictures out the Dutch door?" That was around 1988.

Yeah, whole different culture out there these days.

We have about three inches of S**w here. Back to more trains, I guess.

Cheers, Ed

Hi All,

This is an experiment to post a picture from Flickr.  Ed was gracious enough to help me out, with a process.

Trouble is, I do almost all activity on the forum from my iPad.  Ed said to use BCC from he share tab.  Well, my Flickr app on the iPad doesn't have that option.  I got on my laptop into Flickr and found what Ed was talking about.

So, here goes.  The picture is of a BB caboose that I painted and decaled when i was in high school.  This is going to be my first remodel project when time permits.  Su7re hope this is visible.

Good morning.

It looks like Siberia here.  I've never been there, but I did stay at a Holid...   The snow is deep, there's ice on everything, and Daisy the Dachshund would rather hold everything in for three days than to walk outside.

Kevin -- that's too bad about your train cars.  Hope your hand is OK.

TF -- I think a lot more people understand what you've been saying.  There are a lot more people who believe like you than you may know.

Ulrich -- I know it's easy to say, but don't get discouraged.  You never know what good things might yet happen.  I wish you could come to my part of North America.  I think you'd fit right in here.  We do have crime here -- five years ago someone shoplifted from Walmart.

Ed -- that's a great picture of the Canadien.  It's too bad, but those kind of pictures are no longer possible in the U.S. with Amtrak's ruling on nothing being open while trains are moving.

Lion -- that track picture really threw me until Oldengineman explained what it was.  Mike's link to the article was interesting.

Ken -- good luck with the roof.  I had my roof done about 15 years ago, and it was close to $7,000.  So $10,000 doesn't sound out of line to me.

Timmy -- I had to look up "THACO" and I still don't understand it.  Maybe that's why I never got into gaming -- my intelligence isn't up to that level.

Henry -- good luck with the house.

For everyone who is having health issues or money problems, I hope for the best for you.

Edit:  Top of Page!

It's still morning and everyone is home.  Maybe the diner will deliver whatever you want for breakfast.  I'm not sure if the diner has a liquor license, so the Bloody Marys will have to be homemade.  Use Zing Zang mix -- it's delicious.

I commiserate with you on your misfortune, Kevin. Sometimes things seem to burden us and we can't explain away the feeling of loss. I hope you weren't physically hurt at least.

TF- it is much easier to keep your eyes closed and pretend the world to be OK, than to keep them wide open and see behind the curtain, let alone understand. Most people in the world go the easy way and that´s why people like Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao and numerous others throughout the history of mankind had the chance to rise to power. I always find it fascinating how resistant people are to the lessons of history.

Happy times!

Oh not quite yet Ulrich!

This thing is coming to a screeching halt soon and very soon I say.

You will be surprised how soon.

I remember a day about a month-and-a-half ago when this sham all started.

It was you that said things are not all cracked up to be with this world flu thing.

It was you that said there is an alternative motive to this world of BS going on right now.

You basically said that in more words than none.

Sometimes I think I was the only one that understood you back then.

I said welcome aboard.

We have a few things to do around here, like knocking the cobwebs down.

Then we will need to brush the wool away from people's eyes so they can see again.

There's a broom in the corner.  If you wouldn't mind, would you help me sweep away the years of deceit.

I have a broom too and would be happy to help you.

Nobody understood that five weeks ago.  I bet they do now.

An understandable riddle comes clear, doesn't it.

This crap is coming to an end soon.  They realize if they take it too far things will erupt and become like the movie Mad Max with Mel Gibson and I'm sure they wouldn't want that.

Say hi to Petra for me, would you.

Good Morning!

The day started with a lot of sunshine, but our little herd of deer didn´t show up - yet!

Kevin - I am sorry to hear about your mishap. And I thought my day was bad!I hope you will be able to repair at least the more valuable or dear items!

We will have to not only shelf our plans to move to Denmark, but give them up. The lockdown is putting every aspect of our life into limbo, as our little world is falling apart. I wish I knew a place where Petra and I could live those 10, may 15 years I have in peace and quiet, not having to worry about getting assaulted, mugged, robbed or even jailed for my thoughts.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

And now, for something completely different, a "barn find" of another kind!

Happy times!

So here is what happened today that made my day so bad...

I was moving things around in the garage. My Axian boxes that some train cars are in needed to be moved to the workbench. My paint booth was in between.

I went to lift a box over the paint booth, and the ceiling fan hit my hand.

I dropped the box with 16 freight cars in it six feet to the concrete floor. Seven train cars were destroyed, and six more were badly damaged.

Among the destruction were two boxcars built from limited-run resin kits. All of these cars were deocrated with custom decals that cannot be replaced. Among the badly damaged cars is a Precision Scale brass 12,000 gallon tank car.

I am completely out of sorts right now.

Straight to the point Ken.

How many squares is your roof, is there more than one layer that needs to be torn off? and how many squares of damaged plywood has to be replaced with OSB.

You probably know this but a square is a 10 x 10 foot area.

After being in the business for 30+ years I can definitely help you with what you should expect to pay for the replacement of your roof.

About two hours ago, I thought the snow had stopped.  I scooped the front porch and the driveway.

I went out a little while ago, and it is covered again, and still snowing.

I think I'm having trouble because several days ago, it was such a nice spring day.

I think the soldiers were lead too.

Most metal gaming figures are made of lead-free alloys now that are mostly tin. There are no safety rules against selling figures made of lead. About 15 years ago when tin prices spiked up high, many manufacturers went back to using lead and just raised the recommended age level to 18+. The use of lead went away again a few years ago.

Most new gaming figures are made of plastic now.

Got a estimate today for $10,000 not counting needed plywood.

Heavens that is high! My category 5 roof was only about $7,000.00 around 15 years ago. Maybe it is not that high.

Why, no ..... I have NEVER painted Hundred's of little figure's to represent my "adventure's"

OK ...... maybe I did ....... for a few year's .... 1981 - to - 1987.

We would sit in our basement for 3 or 4 day's straight and play NON_STOP !!! The only food we would eat was Nachos , hotdog's and soda pop . ( we took break's every 8 hour's to walk down the block to the 7-11 for "re-fueling".)

When you said "THACO" I didnt even have to read the rest of your post.

Yup, little girls are darned good at clogging toilets. All three of mine stopped it up at least once.

Now that I didn't know, only having boys and poorly flushing toilet in my house I thought it was a guy thing.

The offer on our house, was a low ball offer.  They want us to pay 1/2 of closing cost, which in our area, seem to be 5.5% and while we priced it realizing he carpeting would need to be replaced and the wood floor would need to be refinished, they wanted us to pay for that too.   We counter offered, but I think they will walk.

It's really hard for me to hold my tongue right now after Judy had the TV on for a while.

I would just be repeating myself from a month and a half ago anyway.

"All the world indeed a stage, we are merely players"

The ulterior motive has been achieved obviously.  It's interesting the sudden shift and the quick aftermath Band-Aids being put on as soon as the puppet show has shifted.

It's nice to know we can all go back to our normal lifes soon and let go of our synthetically created, over exaggerated fears as everyone tries to pick up the pieces.

We all hung in there tough though, didn't WeYes

Wow Kevin,  I could be wrong but it seems like you may be moving those floor drains quite a distance away from where they are now.  In Minnesota they don't have main drains in exterior walls through foundations but then again we have hard frost up here and Florida doesn't.

The only reason I would assume you're moving the drains far away is they would need to dig down deeper for the connection of the main drain to achieve the quarter inch per foot slope before you get to them.

Sounds expensive.
