 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk half a dog treat.

Sheltered At Work Today. Only person I came in contact with today was my wife! Not a single person came and to be honest I was glad. Hate to be that way, but these times are strange. I ran the numbers for the Company today for last week and was surprised by the total sales! Comany did $15,563.00 dollars last week? While normally that would be awful but for two states being under Sheltered At Home oders that was higher than I was expecting. Surprise

Fixing the bathroom faucet. It dawned on me today I really don't know how a 2 handles faucet works? Yes I know it turns the water on and off, but how does it really fuction? Guess it would be like me try to tell some one they have a burnt exhaust valve and they have no clue to what the inside of a engine looks like much less works! So I need to do some studying on the subject.

Ed I have no idea why you like me, but I am glad you do! Bow

Later, Ken and Dirk say's Woof, Woof!

Edit See I am top of the page, Flo I will pick up the tab today,

I hate Rust

So... my wife comes into the room to check on me, right when I switch screens, and Kalmback Media gives me a pop-up for mail order bride services.

Great timing.

And... there was a Russian Mail Order bride in the users group earlier! I need to explain this to her now...

It's not you, so much, Ken. I'm trying to stay on Dirk Pip's good side so I don't get peed on Ick!

Kevin, at least that mail order bride gets a five star review. I wonder how the testing process works?

Stay safe — Stay happy!

Still no sign of TF?

Bear: That is too funny. If my wife knew Sheldon had a huge basement and modeled 1954 in HO scale, I'll bet she would believe I would leave her for him before a mail order bride! She has often accused me of being willing to leave her for Rod Stewart.

Have you ever been cleaning and happened upon a brass locomotive you forgot you had?

I found this one in a tray with a bunch of Soviet T-34s I started painting a few years ago.

I remembered buying it when I saw what it was. I had been looking for an undecorated Oriental Powerhouse USRA Light Pacific, but could not find one.

One day in Chattanooga, I went into the Chatanooga Depot Hobby Shop and they had this Oriental Powerhouse USRA Light Pacific decorated for the GULF MOBILE & OHIO. It is about as close to undecorated as you can get. It only has GM&O on the tender, and nothing on the locomotive, not even numbers, so I bought it.

It came with a brass Hallmark caboose for the GM&O, and that is how the GM&O caboose became the standard caboose for the STRATTON AND GILLETTE.

I put it on the rails on the layout segment, and it still runs fine, just a bit covered with dust.

Tstage and I were posting about Russian brides, just a couple days ago.

My wife went to the grocery store for one item and came back with 9 bags of groceries.  Pickles have gone the way of toilet paper.  I love pickles, but how many can you eat?  How many would you even want to eat in one sitting?  Yet the liquor stores, which are still open, have plenty of everything alcoholic.

We now have to quarantine ourselves for 2 weeks if we leave the state.  There is an Amazon employee who tested positive in the local distribution center, so maybe we do need to bleach our boxes?

No opinion on where we should move the diner next month.

Speaking of MIA has anyone heard from Brent {Batman} lately? He hasn't been in the Diner since the 17th.

How about Golden, British Columbia? Golden is located in the middle of the Canadian Rockies and its existence is primarily due to the Canadian Pacific Railway's construction of its route through the Rocky Mountains in the late 1800s. There are plenty of extremely interesting railroading sites in the area like the Spiral Tunnels, and the Rockies as a whole offer some of the most beautiful scenery in the world for train lovers, particularly for those on board the Rocky Mountaineer.

Just a suggestion.

Good Morning!

It´s not April yet, but the weather is playing tricks on us. We had just about all kind of weather yesterday, from a torrential rainfall, to a hail storm and finally, lots of snow, followed by sunshine. The morning started bright and cold! While I was enjoying that important first sip of coffee, I was able to observe our morning visitors in our (downstairs) yard - 4 female deer, all round and ready for the new crop. Next visitor was a pheasant. It´s these little things that matter these days - much more in these trying times trhan before.

Batman´s absence keeps me worried. Let´s hope everything is OK at his end of the world!

Moving the diner - why don´t we just stay right what we are. The virus doesn´t travel through the Internet, but I am not up to traveling right now.

Stay safe!

Happy times!

Hi Ulrich,

I'm sorry that you are not up to moving the diner, but if you don't mind, I would be willing to take on the task, that is if everyone is comfortable with getting plopped down in the middle of the Rocky Mountains at Golden, BC.

What does everyone think?

Excellent choice, Dave Bow

I was last in that area back in 1973. I'd be happy to see what's become of the place. I'd like to take a side trip to Revelstoke and Banff if I may. Perhaps Jasper?

Good memories there. I was the steward on board a (private) C&O business car and we had several layovers through BC and Alberta.

I gather that Batmans young ffolkes had both got home safely, so hope everything’s hunky dory! As for Mr TF, I just hope Bear didn’t snag TFs Mustang with that chain! It’s just the sort of thing that the Bear would manage to do, especially if he wasn’t trying too!

Hi Ulrich,

I might have to ask you for some help to get the diner started. Can I just cut and paste the RIP Track?

Thanks,

Well, when I open the diner, I usually do it around 7am our time, which should be just about past midnight in Milwaukee.

One minute past midnight it is then! Actually, Milwaukee, Wisconsin is one hour behind us so they will be getting it at 11:00 pm.

That's fine, I'll be in bed at that time.  When I wake up tomorrow morning, the diner will be in place.

I can't do the all night thing some do. Zzz  Some of you must sleep during the day! Laugh

Hi Mike,

I will admit that I am nocturnal. I love staying up into the wee hours or even all night as I have indeed done last night. I think it all stems from my childhood. My parents would let me stay up late at night to watch movies with them, and then they would let me sleep in in the morning. Some of my fondest memories are of the five hour drive to the cottage which always started late at night so we could beat the weather going down the bay (cottage was water access only across Georgian Bay). When I was in university I would start studying after midnight when everyone else in the residence had gone to bed. No disturbances!

Too late (pardon the pun) to break the habit now!

Some of us wish they could get a good night´s sleep for a change. Being nocturnal is usually not by own choice.

Rest assured - you´ll be there, one day!

Oh not to worry, I have my restless nights.  I think all of Jan. and Feb. I spent awake !   I might be in bed by 11 pm, that doesn't mean I sleep ALL night.

Looking forward to being in the Canadian Rockies.  I bet I'd sleep good there!  Laugh

Still no sign of TF?

Good morning

I'm here Ed!   I hope your doing well  Sorry about my absence as I don't have a good enough excuse but I appreciate the concernSmile, Wink & Grin  Please Mr. Bear,  don't snag the Mustang with a chain  That could make for some nasty blemishes on the front end that I don't think would buff outTongue TiedLaugh

The lack of work recovering from my bad knee over five weeks was a drag   Then the coronavirus thing

After that, either nobody wanted me in my their house or didn't want to spend the money or both   Not that I really need the money but who wants to dip into the retirement fund

Lucky for me I bumped into the manager of the condo complex I live in last week   I told him I didn't have any work and he loaded me up   I've been fortunate enough to be busy again working where I live   As they say "don't poop where you eat" but I'll take itSmile

I sure was out of shape after not working for two months as it's hard to get back into the swing of things

The haircut thing,  the last time I had a haircut,  the yeti and me went to the barbers together   The yeti asked if he could go first because I take too longLaugh   Since the barbers are now closed,  I found my scissors,  a little hack here a little snip there and it looks better than it didWhistling

Kevin,...The big wrench you were holding in the garage was funnyLaugh  It reminded me of the old board game Clue   Colonel Mustard, with the wrench, in the garageLaugh  Hopefully we don't have to start managing two Bears in the Forum hereIndifferent

Your package was delivered from eBay,  what should have took three days took over two weeks   I will be sending it out to you as soon as I can

We should take a roll call to make sure everyone's safe   Our Canadian friends have been missing,  good thing Dave's back but where is Brent and Charlie

British Columbia sounds great to me,  my Mother used to say the further up north you travel the more beautiful it gets

Stay safe everyone and have a great day

Good morning, everyone.  It's cool and partly cloudy on the plains.  It was nice weather for the morning walk.

BC sounds good.  I was last there about 20 years ago.  It's another of those places that I would love to go back to see, but I know I probably won't.  Family and grandkids are now the travel destinations.

If anyone has any TP, we're getting a little low.

I was going to suggest Mars... no viruses there. And plenty of snacks, from what I understand.

I think Mars would appriciate it if we all just stayed here. Whistling  But please, feel free to drop the snacks off on my front porch, thank you very much.... Smile, Wink & Grin

Hopefully the diner hasn't been quarantined in place!  Maybe the Texans want us all to stay put!  Inside the diner?  Surprise  Or get out and go somewhere else! Cowboy

This morning's crisis: the dog jumped on me begging for some breakfast and his dewclaw got caught in my fleece pocket zipper.  I grabbed his paw, but he had the jacket pulled too tight and twisted for me to see well enough to free him.

He's part beagle, the drama queen.  He was screaming.  My wife thought we were playing.  Eventually she came over and decided his collar was the problem and unclipped that.  Now I was holding an empty collar in one hand and a slippery paw stuck in the zipper in the other.  Eventually she helped me take off the fleece and freed Toby.

In this era of handwashing, the History Guy did a youtube on soap.  While it was invented in antiquity, it's not clear either the Greeks or Romans used it for hygiene, prefering pumice.Crying

It was widely used in the Middle Ages, but by the 17th century bathing was though to open the pores to disease and Louis 14th was said to smell like a wild animal.  It is not true (we think) that he only ever took 3 baths in his life.

Glad he's not in the diner.

Good (Late) Morning All,

Just my grilled chicken wrap and a to go regular please.

Yes indeed, there are a group of people who don't believe in washing regularly. We had such a person in our group in the Navy. If you can imagine spending 12 hours a day 7 days a week cooped up in a little tiny room with 6 other people and this individual at less than arms length away you can understand why we helped him develop better hygiene habits. After one watch ended a few of us "helped" him into the shower and soaked him down stinky clothes and all. We didn't even get written up for it after we explained the how and why of it...

Back to the shop with the food it is.   Ciao, J.R.
