I have really enjoyed the pre-game shows so far from Miami.

Thanks for all that information Ray, wow, now when half time comes around, me, along with anyone else who reads this forum will ALL know where Ray is.
I hope everything comes out alright! This place has gone to the crapper, it's official.
We're only watching, kind of, probably not the whole thing, to cheer on KC, (wife's family in KC) and hope for a #6 in the end.
I should be cheering for the NFC, but just this once.
It sounds like Kevin has the whole neighborhood showing up with the amount of goodies he talked about.
Not much else going on, worked on my Fa&b units today. Now, it's nap time, then the game, and dinner while we watch the game.
Carry on!

mbinsewiIt sounds like Kevin has the whole neighborhood showing up with the amount of goodies he talked about.
Not the whole neighborhood, just the "kids".
Superbowl is a very special day in my house.
For years, my wife and I were the only members of the family that did not drink, and did not care about sports.
As such, we were the babysitters for an entire generation of the family children on Superbowl Sunday when they were young.
Now these kids are 25-35 years old, but many of them still come to Uncle Kevin's house for the Superbowl like they have done since they were children.
We drink beer now, but not much else has changed. This is a wonderful day for my wife and I, and I hope this tradition continues for a long time.
They should start shopwing up in a little more than an hour.
Howdy .....
Santa Fe Railway used to operte a passenger train called the Kansas City Chief. So, I would favor the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for that reason. However, I would prefer working on my model railroad insted of watching the game.
Have nice evening everybody.

Yes, .... Too much information!
It's okay to speak of Boston and Maine here. Even fine to use BM for short if you do, .... but that was a little over the edge.
At least I hope it goes over the edge

TMI ? We now know where Dirk and Ray are going. With a dog with inflammatory bowel disease we talk about #2 at least twice day. Toby's having a flare up today, he started running around the house like he was crazy and when we let him outside, he had grass for a solid 10 minutes. That seems to help and we give him flagyl on top of his usual drugs. We almost never see grass come out the front end.
In the latest revision to the English language, one can't call dogs and cats pets anymore according to PETA. They are now "Companions" Forum rules will need to be revised to prevent Trans Species Xenophobia. (prejudice against other species)
Which we reminds me of a story. I was sitting at the front desk and the secretary put the latest phone call on hold and says "This lady had surgery last week and hasn't had a boom boom since, what is she talking about?" First time in 50 years I heard it called a boom boom, but I knew exactly what she meant and took the phone call.

Kevin, you can't fool me. You'd much rather have our weather -- half inch of ice by morning.
Dog's business? If it weren't for our Dog Daisy's bowel habits, my wife and I would have nothing to talk about.
I love watching football, both college and NFL. Football, Bud Light, high-calorie junk food, big screen TV: This is a great life!

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk half a dog treat and a shoot of Pepto Bismol please.
Henry I am afraid Dirk has IBS at this point. He has now did #2 seven times in the house and peed twices. He all so blew chucks this morning. If he is not better Wednesday off to the Vet we go.
Sparkie had IBS. It cost me more to feed a 19 pound dog than a 175 pound Wolfhound! Hope we don't go down that road again. But if I have to I will.
Very Pleasnt day with a high of 68 F. After my running, wife, Dirk and I spent a hour on the front pourch. Dirk, wife and I enjoyed it. Nices while we have it. Starting to look forward too spring.
Later Ken and Dirk say's I got to go agin Daddy, woof, woof!

The only capitol I know of is a white domed building in the capital of the United States. Washington D.C. I've only been inside once, but you can see it from miles away and it is always impressive. Coming home from college from Florida, I got lost and ended up next to the White House. I parked my car and climbed on the fence to take a picture. They did not send out the dog to get me.
School age kids seem to wear shorts 330 days a year. Back in my day you got sent home if you wore shorts or if you were a girl, pants.
Lately I've been noticing all the people that wear hoodies, with the hood up in the gym. Everyone else is breaking a sweat in t shirts.
So far the Chiefs are looking like the better team. No dog in the hunt.
I had picked the Chiefs, I picked the Chiefs, Yaaaaaay!

Well, Mike, actually it was a good game and I enjoyed it. The Half time fireworks and, ah, other stuff sure shouldn't have been rated "G" and I was embarased that my young Granddaughters were sitting there watching.... I was not impressed.

Yea, it was a good game! Those KC Chiefs are some real scrappers! I'm happy for the wife's family in KC. They have something to celebrate. It's been a long dry spell for them.
Half time music was so far out of my radar screen, and the music I like, we missed it, and spent the time cleaning up the kitchen after a great dinner.
Have a great night diners!
Good Morning All,
8 hours since the last post it seems in here.
A regular and a egg and cheese sandwich please. Cutting back on the alcohol intake has helped a lot at times. No issue getting up this morning as I had none yesterday. Did watch the game and though I would have been ok with whoever won it was good to see KC win. I just like watching Mahones play. It wasn't his best game for sure for most of it but he came through in the clutch. Also it was good to see Andy Reid (the coach for you Luddites who don't watch) finally win a well deserved championship. Not the same as watching the Giants when they won but still a good game.
Been cleaning in the train room and trying to sort through the workbenches. I cleared the majority of it and am planning on putting together a spray booth in one corner of the bench. Once that is done it's back to cleaning track.
Wiring harnesses this week and then next Thursday it's off to Savannah and the start of another season. Ciao, J.R.

Well, the game was in Miami, and South Florida looks a lot different than the rest of the United States. I don't know if the show was supposed to showcase the city or not. Shakira is from Columbia and Jennifer Lopez is from New York City. Some of it looked like it was inspired by Jennifer Lopezs new movie.
Shakira is all about the hips, and "Hips Dont Lie".
Good morning.
Ya, It was a pretty good game. It looked as if the 49ers were the dominating team for a while there. Then somehow the Chiefs pulled it off.
The halftime show, Yes. I would be a liar if I said I did'nt like the attire worn. But then again I'm just a normal male.
I definitely see and agree with the point there were many children across the World in their living rooms who were watching.
Some of these children look up to the stars and they are sending a message that it is impressive to dress inappropriately and unrespectful in public.
Somewhat revealing but with a little class would be nice, instead of looking like they just left Frederick's of Hollywood to go to the bedroom.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
I hate to break your heart, but the women were actually covered head to ankle in flesh colored one piece body-suits with the "clothing" stitched onto them. Nothing was revealed.
These are similar to what female figure skaters wear, everything is covered, and there is zero chance of a wardrobe malfunction.
Good Afternoon!
Still dull and grey and too wet - yuck!
Nothing going on. We are in a waiting mode for the legal procedures regarding my parents´ estate to start. Those mills don´t turn fast, so I guess I will have to wait some more to find out what or if any has been left to me.
Track fiddlerthere were many children across the World in their living rooms who were watching.
Most certain not in my world. Superbowl and Rose Bowl are not much of an issue in Europe, we prefer real Football (which you call soccer) and/or Rugby.
Happy times!

And, we also have the TV sound off, with Sirius Outlaw Country on the radio, even during the game, so it was easy to miss.
The wife's family in KC is real quiet. I expected their Facbook comments to be fast and furious. Nothing! I even asked them if everybody in KC has today off, and no answer.
Watching the game, I'm kinda glad the Packers weren't in it, the sporatic way they have been playing, I think KC would have beat us!
Happy Monday everyone.
Wife is back to work today, after her emergency eye surgery on Jan. 23rd.
Me? I'll be finishing up laundry, and working on my F units. Tonights dinner is lasagna and salad.
Later!
Good morning. My usual this morning - bacon, eggs, coffee.
The weather people missed it so far -- no snow this morning yet. It sounds like a hurricane outside, and the temperature has dropped, but no ice or snow makes it a great morning.
mbinsewiThe wife's family in KC is real quiet. I expected their Facbook comments to be fast and furious. Nothing! I even asked them if everybody in KC has today off, and no answer.
They probably are trying to recover from the noise. At 10:00 pm last night my daughter in KC texted and said it still sounded like a war zone. She said July 4th was minor in camparison with last night's fireworks. Her whole neighborhood was still all outside with one big party going on.
A while back, Kevin showed a plastic storage case that he got for about $15. By the time I got to the store 45 miles away several days later, the price was back up to $44.
I've been checking, and finally saw it was on sale again for $15. I quickly ordered it, and picked it up Saturday.
I spent yesterday sorting small parts and putting them into the individual containers. My regret is that I didn't buy two of them. I'll have to watch for another sale.
It's only the first of February, but the great migration is again taking place here. Yesterday the sky was filled all day with noise -- the geese are flying north. It seemed like a never-ending parade. They sure make noise when they go over. I could still hear them overhead last night in the dark.
Have a good day, everyone.
York1My regret is that I didn't buy two of them. I'll have to watch for another sale.
I bought two even though I thought I only needed one. Good thing I did, I needed two!
I think taking Superbowl Monday off from work was a mistake. They are working hard on the house across the road, and making all kinds of racket. The shingles are going onto the roof, and there are air compressors and pneumatic nailers going off like crazy.
Hey, nobody locked the January Diner! In New York City? That's dangerous! Someone could have just walked out with the waffle maker!
Speaking of which, let's have some Kentucky fried chicken and waffles. Not Kentucky Fried Chicken, as that's a registered trademark. This is lowercase.
--Steven Otte, Model Railroader senior associate editorsotte@kalmbach.com
I could really use some chicken & waffles right now.
I am too far south for that. I know a good place in Atlanta, but Tennessee and Kentucky have the best.
Good morning!
Not sure what's good about it. The Salvation Army said they'd be here to pick up a mattress I'm donating, but wouldn't say what time.
Last night, the GF said that if she had young children, she wouldn't let them watch shows with revealing costumes either. I was thinking that next year I might find a radio station with commentary about the game during half time. Or maybe go outside and grill brats or steak tips.

Hi Ulrich.
My Son was involved in all sports except for Hockey when he went to school. That don't make a lot of sense to me since Hockey was my one and only sport when I went to school. Everyone is entitled to their own choices though.
He was so good at soccer the parents on the other team would get all ruffled. I always found it a bit amusing, ... That's My Boy!
He still to this day can take a soccer ball and bounce it off his feet, knees, head and arms like he has some kind of magical control over it.
I had to go to an appointment in St Paul on my day off this morning. Bummer.

Not really though. These lightrail trains do not turn around. I have often wondered if the engineer walks through all the cars when it's time to go the other way or if there's a driver in each cab.
It´s not really a question of choice. American Football never really caught on in Germany. There are a few teams and there are certainly quite a few followers, but it´s not a common sport which shows up on TV, so it lacks publicity and therefore recognition and sponsoring.
Football---
I played football in high school, I watched SuperBowl 1--that has lasted me a lifetime.
I discovered Austrailian Rules Football while working on the USS King, a DLG. As near as I could figgure out the only rules were: no biting, no hitting with sticks, or clubs, ----anything else is permissable.

Good afternoon, everyone —
I don't have much in the archives for my neighboring state to the south.
Here's a little tidbit from the local media showing a bit of street running in La Grange.
One of only two in the country? Well, that's a bit of a stretch but, hey, it is TV.
Cheers, Ed
gmpullmanOne of only two in the country? Well, that's a bit of a stretch but, hey, it is TV
When Lee County Transit received delivery of its first Hybrid transit bus, the local television station reported that it was one of only three in the country... What!?! They were rolling off the assembly line at Gillig every day!
What was actually the truth was when the funding for the Hybrid Buses was approved, there were only three operating in the country. By the time the first one was delivered, there were hundreds in operation.
Oh well. I guess it was close enough.
As the first all-electric drive busses are getting placed into service, I wonder how many local news services will report something like "This is the first all electric bus in the country". Sorry guys, the first one actually was in service years ago. These are just the first mass-produced versions.
Trains running down mainstreet? Nothing new! Happens many times all over the world.
