I will take this under advisement Mike. I will have to check out my blood pressure at the pharmacy.
I really like the Power Wagon. I'm getting ready to trade in and upgrade my truck. I might need to look into one of those with street tires of course
Seriously, all of that old equipment was built better and lasts longer than new junk sold today. My 69 Ford Mach 1 has had less problems than My 06 Dodge Ram.
Plus, I think I would look way cool wearing my Ray-Bans coming down the road in that thing
TF
Intimidating..... nobody would get in my way driving that snub-nosed truck..... when I leave the job they will say..... Now That's a Carpenter!
TF, would be worth double checking at one of the machines at a pharmacy. My wife has one of those home blood pressure machines to monitor hers. It consistently reads higher than the one at the doctor's office. Even took it in with her once to see if her bp was for some reason lower there. I want to say it was reading something like 15 points higher than the doctor's.
A couple more pics from the railroad museum in Spain. Imagine my surprise when I saw this.108 by Michael, on Flickr
Then I had to do a double take when I saw this diesel sitting there. Thought it was an FA at first.111 by Michael, on Flickr
Anyone ever hear of a Powerwagon? No not Dodge, but Fargo!106 by Michael, on Flickr
Lastly, this made me chuckle. They had some model trains on display there as well. This "American" model put a big smile on my face. Sorry it's cut off, but it was something like a baggage car to the right if I recall correctly.107 by Michael, on Flickr

Exactly the same here Kevin.
A while back I posted how Judy's blood pressure was sky-high. Also her cholesterol and triglycerides are Sky High as well. She's never been a pill person, neither have I. Now she has to take three pills a day for these ailments and has a blood pressure monitor at home.
I don't have health insurance because I'm self-employed. I took my blood pressure with her home device and my blood pressure is Sky High.
Because of that fact I'm eating like her and doing everything that she is now. It was a little hard getting used to these unsalted peanuts
Thanks for the whole wheat hot dog bun tip. I will be looking for those next time I'm at the store I like putting homemade chili on dogs too. We're using turkey burger in that The last two months I feel like I'm losing my

One of the supermarkets here carries whole wheat hot dog buns that are very good.
Since my wife became unable to eat white bread, I have not been eating it either, and now I love wheat bread.

Here's one for you I thought you might enjoy Ulrich.
I got off work early today and didn't want to work hard for lunch. I wanted something quick and easy. Some quick quality healthy junk that tastes good.
100% beef original casing wieners, sliced and put in the oven pre-heated on 300 for 17 minutes, sharp cheddar and low moisture mozzarella string cheese put down the slice, put back in the oven for another 5 minutes, quality German sauerkraut, Dijon horseradish honey mustard and ketchup, healthy wheat bread. Judy cannot have white bread anymore so we don't buy hot dog buns.
Good Lunch...... I could only eat two. You guys help your selves to the last one and I'll make some more.
Track fiddlerHow do you make a snow blower out of a dishwasher? Anyone anyone? ...... I'll give you guys a few minutes.
Hand the snow shovel to your wife?

Evening, Folks!
Let´s not talk about snow, please - like Sfeven, I can´t stand that fluffy white & wet stuff!
I rediscovered a video on probably the best HO scale streetcar layout ever, built by a Dutch modeller. It features the fictional German city of Rheinberg and shows a level of detail, which is simply breathtaking. Enjoy a tram ride over this exceptional layout!
All shown streetcar models are commercially made by Roco, Halling, Hödl Linie 8, Hermann & Partner, Liliput and Navemo.
Happy times!

York1The lesson? Stay inside, act like you're sick, and a neighbor will come over and clean your driveway.
All of my neighbors have already learned that lesson. Must be why none of the driveways get shoveled.
Steven Otte What I will never be OK with is snow. Mainly because snow forces me to spend time out in the cold. And, because my first year here, snowblowing a driveway in my perfectly-adequate-for-Florida flat-bottomed shoes caused me to slip and shatter my shoulder, an injury that pains me to this day. <*shakes fist northward*> SNOOOOOOWWWWW!!!

I got off early today to start my weekend and I am so happy.
Man Steve, that sounds painful, I really hope you're doing better since that happened.
Your unfortunate accident reminded me of a pretty good one I heard a while ago though.

Good morning ....
Kevin .... That's a nice photo of a nearby farm field. I wish I rembered to suggesst you cross the new bridge into Land Between the Lakes national Recreation Area. It is 170,000 acres of forest and wildlife. The bison range is only 20 minutes away from here. .....

That sounds like another entry in the "against" column for the job offer in Wisconsin I am considering.
Tinplate ToddlerYou guys all live down south - from where I am. I Intend to move up even further, by about 250 miles. That would put me up to 56° 47′ 0″ N, which must be somewhere in Alaska or the icy North of Canada. No polar bears around, though!
Does the ocean keep Denmark warmer than would be expected that far north?
I've lived in Wisconsin a dozen years now, and I'm kind of OK with the cold. After all, I don't spend a lot of time out in the cold; that's what central heating is for. Kind of like the heat and humidity when I lived in Florida.

BATMANI always get a kick out of some of you guys saying you're going up North meaning all the way to Ohio or somewhere. To us, up north is North of the B.C. Yukon border and the far North is North of the Arctic circle.
When I lived in New Orleans, there were four directions -- upriver, downriver, toward the lake, and toward the river.
If anyone ever said they were going north, that meant Mandeville, about 25 miles north of New Orleans across Lake Ponchartrain.
The farthest north in Canada I've been is Dawson City, Yukon. By air, I've been to Anaktuvuk Pass in Alaska. We flew in there on a small plane.
As we waited at a small unmanned airport north of Fairbanks to get the flight to Anaktuvuk Pass, our six passenger plane landed, and two people got off. One of them actually got off the plane, got on his hands and knees, and kissed the ground.
I'm like some of you -- I would prefer winter over summer. While most people around here want to move south when they retire, if I had to move I'd go north. Nothing better to me than to go out in the snow, get a load of firewood, get the fireplace going, and sit by it watching Perry Mason reruns with a large coffee. Nothing better!
SeeYou190Atlanta is Up North, Ohio is Arctic.

BATMANI could sit in the hot pool and look at the Rockies all-day. And listening to those diesels grinding their way up towards the continental divide from across the valley is music to my ears.
We have a continential divide in North Dakota. Land is as flat as a pancake, but there it is. One side flows south to the Gulf of Mex, and the other side flows north to the Artic Ocean.
So There!

When I'm down below Albany railfanning, and someone asks where I'm from, I say "the north country" and there like "so like Albany", and I'm like, "just go as far north as you can, and then back up 10 minutes.". I enjoy the cold weather here, It makes me $$(ski instructor). Plus, I hate the bugs in the summer.

Track fiddlerOh come on Kevin you were a Wisconsin boy before you lived in Florida.
I was not born in Florida, but not Wisconsin either. My family is from Wisconsin, but I was born elsewhere.
We moved to Gainesville before my first birthday, and all was proper with my world.
Florida all the way since then, except for one year outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana (9th grade), and one year in Nashville, Tennessee (college).
I do keep moving further South in Florida.

hon30critterWould I rather be sitting on the deck in warm weather? Well of course yes!
We have plenty of both.
Track fiddler I hate that 90° hot and humid <weather>. I turn into a slow-moving turtle.
That is only eight months of the year.
Good Morning All,
A regular to go please Zoe. Loading today, three of the rigs leave tomorrow morning. One is already at Road Atlanta, one is already at Lime Rock two are going to COTA near Austin, Tx and the last is going to Daytona for the open test prior to the Clasic 24 in Novenber.
I leave at 9 this morning to fly with the CFO to Richmond and my nieces wedding. This will be my first time flying with her piloting so wish me luck.
Nothing on the layout lately, maybe next week when I might have time to think but I doubt it. Tuesday morning I leave for Austin via Dallas where I have to look at a car for a customer. Still, better to be busy than the opposite.
Gotta run - lots to do this morning. Ciao, J.R.
Happy Friday everyone. Zoe, a black coffee and a piece of coffee cake please. End of a loooong week here. Tomorrow will be busy with the kids sports, but at least I won't be at w*rk. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Cheers,
I'm running late.
Good night my Friends.
I ain't complaining. Maybe you misread me. I like it. I hate that 90° hot and humid crap. I turn into a slow-moving turtle.
I like the cold days better than the hot and humid 4 days of summer. I really do. I could be known as The Iceman.
Fall, way cool. I wish I could pick a climate to live in that was fall all year round.
All said and done, I would pick cold over hot.
Good thing Jets have reverse engines. I've landed on icy runways like that, the brakes do nothing, they are not ever used.

Track fiddlerI've seen 60 below actual, 90 below wind chill in the International Falls area.
So why are you complaining about the weather that Canada sends you?!? The coldest place on record in Ontario (Sioux Lookout I belive) doesn't get any colder than what you have experienced in International Falls.
As far as cold weather goes, it just doesn't bother me. Would I rather be sitting on the deck in warm weather? Well of course yes! However, cold winters are a given if you live in Canada, so why complain? The only part of winter that I don't like is when we get freezing rain. That used to be pretty rare but thanks to global warming ice storms are becoming much more frequent.
Actually, I think we have it rather good here in Ontario. For the most part the weather is quite nice. The risk of tornadoes and hurricanes is minimal. There are very few poisonous insects or animals. Getting eaten by a bear only happens once every few years! The crime rate is very low even when taking the recent multiple shootings in Toronto into account. We have great health care that costs us practically nothing up front. We have a good education system, and our tax rates are reasonable. I'll take a little cold weather in exchange for that any day!
Cheers!!
Dave

TF, yup could be a long drive through the Rockies, oh well I have done it many a time in -40 and lots of snow. Just think hot springs.
You haven't experienced flying until you have landed and taken off from an ice or dirt runway in a 737.
Ice runway.
