They are gone by now and it is quiet again. My back has started to hurt again, but this time a try to get along without a pain killer. Nice video, Henry!

It was 60 here yesterday and today it is 31 and icing up, we are having and ice storm.....
I think I need these.
Good afternoon from the extremely soggy West Coast. No big storm last night, the 100km winds with blowing snow turned out to be a pineapple express from Hawaii. The snow is going fast.

Had a couple of educational chats this morning on the FB site "Model Railroads Structures and Scenery". Talented people on there for sure. A couple of things they are working on. FB haters close your eyes.
The city where I live was dragging its heels on settling my flood claim and I was getting really ticked. I posted a partial story of the whole thing on the cities FB page and all of a sudden bingo. Things will be settled within two weeks. They haven't heard the last of me yet, I am putting together a whole package of the event that will go to my son's friend who is a news producer at Canadas largest TV newsgroup. He knows the story and has been holding off because I asked him to. Something really stinks about the whole affair and I can't get any answers.
The kid just informed me he is going to Calgary to his usual hockey tournament, he is a long way from game shape no matter how hard he tries to stay in shape, could be interesting.
NAV Canada is hiring a lot of air traffic controllers right now, I sent the info to my nephew as he hates being an electrician. He is very keen and will apply. Wage range is $80,000.00 to $302,000.00 per year. My uncle was ATC regional director for all of Western Canada back in the late 70s, early 80s and was trying to get me to go work for them. I had just gotten my pilots license and thought about it but I had too many other irons in the fire at the time.
HA! A city truck just pulled up to where they dug up the road and two suits got out for a look. I knew they wouldn't like the facts I was spilling out on the cities FB sight. The lawyers in the family said that as long as everything I said was the absolute truth to go ahead and post away.
The kid is coming home for nine days tomorrow to plan out his Summer work. He thinks he will do the movie thing as they keep asking his availability and they pay really well so he will be meeting with some casting directors. Also, he has been offered a media/producing job by his same friend as above and was told he can work from any movie set he is on or home or he can go into Vancouver to the office. He just needs to pack his laptop with him. He has been doing a little work for the City of Ottawa while he is there. They offered him a job, however, he wants that law and economics degree and still wants to work in the movie biz as an entertainment lawyer, that's huge bucks. On Monday he got another $3000.00 scholarship out of the blue for next year. His first term grades were three A+s, one A and one A-. Considered very high for the law classes he is taking. He is doing even better this term.
Well, I think I'll go run a train, the old bones are really hurtin today with all this rain and snow. It's about all I can handle.
All the best to all.
Good Evening, Crew! Just one last coffee for me, thanks. I spent time re-attaching parts on my two Erie cabooses and have everything done except for some touch up painting needed on one of them. It's a good thing that I still have a good jar of the original color as I have to airbrush the paint onto just a few small places after making sure the paint is feather-sanded where needed because I don't want it looking like a patch job. But the important work is done and tomorrow I'll move on to others models in need of minor repair. I'll be checking back with The Age of Steam Roundhouse for news about NKP 757, but nothing so far. It'll probably be announced on their next newsletter e-mail. Have a good night, everyone!

Hello, everybody ...
Regarding FB, model Railroader posted this morning: .... " Now that Valantine's Day is over, you can get back to your real love -- model trains." ..... I laughed outloud at that ! ... ... Sorry, MR, but there is no subsitute for my Main Squeeze ! .... Of course, I enjoy model railroading, but my trains never hug me ! ... LOL
Thanks Henry, Russ, and Ed for the info about NKP 757.

The Nickel Plate originally donated it to the city of Bellevue but there was no place to display it.
Now there is. It just took fifty years to get her back.

My wife too. What is it with these women? The diner is having Steak Tartare for lunch, complete with a raw egg.

hon30critterDianne likes her meat well done! No pink or it goes back on the BBQ.
.
My wife also insists on well done steaks.
Her favorite steakhouse used to be Ponderosa, because they made steaks thin and well done just like she preferred.
I mean really... who would want a thick juicy steak?
I still do not enjoy going out to eat a steak dinner with her.

Found out that the RR Museum of PA sold/gave one of the NKP steamers to a museum in Ohio and they moved it at night over Horseshoe curve. I wonder whats involved in making sure a loco that has sat for 60 years will actually move?
The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum is going to restore engine 757. A huge an expensive undertaking, but so many of these old steam engines are sitting outside in a museum, slowly rusting away.

The youtube video is not much, it's dark, the engine is black, but you can fast forward to 1:45
There is some shakey video at the Museum site.
In other news, Ken Patterson Ebayed a George Selios box car for the benefit of the Colorado RR Museum. It brought $1000.

Work Front Read 210 pages of Clive Cussler novel The Assassin. So that tells you about how busy I was.
Valentine Day. Bought my wife a big Heart Shape Box Of Chocolate Candy and a 6 foot string Valentine Hearts and hung them on some kitchen cabinets when I got home last night. She was tickled when she found them! Did not buy her a card, all of them where I was shopping was $7.00, that is half a meal eating out depending where we go. No thanks. She rather be feed.

Dianne likes her meat well done! No pink or it goes back on the BBQ. My dad was the same way. He would only eat the end cut off a prime rib roast. Of course, he insisted on having ketchup with his steak as well. That explains a lot. I prefer a small piece of blue cheese.
The ribs were great buy the way. Absolutely falling off the bone and they had a real nice 'bark' of well cooked (not burned) BBQ sauce on them.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Well it is snowin and blowin....again. Maybe I should move back to Winnipeg. Just cleared off the truck to take kid 2 to her babysittin gig. It is times like this I am glad she doesn't have her drivers license. I am happy to drive her myself in these conditions.
It has been hectic around here today so it was a quick dinner for our valentines feast. i like them still mooing as well, North American cowboy sushi is what I call it.
Time to head out into the night.
I like it Mike.
Sear it and clear it..... Crispy hot on one side for the flavor..... Crispy hot on the other side for the flavor.
Mike..... You know how to cook a steak!
I'm glad you wined and dined your woman ..... That's what it's all about

Thank you! Take mine and put it on a HOT grill for a couple of minutes on each side, just to sear it.
Wait, I already grilled a steak diner, with a glass of wine for my valentine!

I'll have two red bloody slabs of prime rib, two inches thick. Red is the color for Valentine's Day. One for me and one for my Judy. She likes it just the same as I do. We Like our beef still somewhat mooing.

Don't forget to dip your prime rib in a horseradish sour cream mixture. Very very good that way
Good Evening, Crew! I've just felt dragged out all day even though I got in enough nap time. One of those "old guy" days, I guess. I stopped by a LHS here in town to see what they had. It's mostly a plastic car/military vehicle/ship/fantasy type of place, but they did have the CA glue and accelerator that I needed. What surprised me was the paint selection: Vallejo, Mission Models, and Tamiya. Granted, there were the usual primary and military colors, but also some that I could use like rust and a few that could be mixed for a boxcar red/mineral brown along with semi-gloss and gloss. I forgot to ask about decals, but there is a small selection of Evergreen strip styrene that I could use to boost up my supply. I'll have to go back and look around some more. There's supposed to be a "trains" section, although it's not a model railroad shop, and maybe I'll find a gem in a dusty box hiding on the shelf. The CA glue will put me back to work on fixing the broken detail parts on my rolling stock while I think about rebuilding my benchwork. Have a great night everyone!
mbinsewiNice pictures Lion. The editing makes the rails look rusty, as in not used. The detailing on your layout is excellent!
The detailing should be good. That is a picture of the Sea Beach line in Brooklyn. LION likes to play with his pictures before posting them.
Ray, I agree with you, that is why I don't do the friend thing at all. However, going on MRR-FB sites is no different than chatting on here IMO. You don't need to be "friends" to do that on those sites.

Well..... Deep subject. I, for one, was on SpaceCrook for all of two weeks. About all that happened was I was "found" by a bunch of my old students, most of which I really didn't need nor want to "find"... One of them ended going down many points in my estimation as he was one of my Eagle Scouts way back when. I really don't need to know what he did with his girlfriend, nor how many times, the weekend before....... I found absolutely no value there that I couldn't get here or some other places out there without the gross crap that is on THAT site.
