Eveing Diners
Flo, give the gang and I a please.
Man I am beat.
Weather Sucks Rail Spikes. More freezing rain. While the road's where fine I got stuck behinde a parson that was driving 25 MPH in a 40 MPH zone where there was no passing. Well I guess I understand, rather be safe than sorry.
Ray This reminded me of your wolf picture. On the way to work I saw a dead Ground Hog that had been ran over. Made me think the driver of that car was thinking what the wolf was in that photo.
Trains are running great!

Good afternoon from a sunny West Coast where it is 10c.
Well, I have spent all morning shredding 40 years of trading slips. Remember those? You would get them in the mail every time you bought and sold stock.
Now it is all online with no paper, life is good.
Henry $1450.00 makes me think whoever bought it did all right as there was a lot of pretty decent stuff in that lot. Did you bid?
Once upon a time, CP not only had a Railroad but also had its own Airforce and Navy, not to mention a lot of pricey hotels. Saw this pic on the Classic Canadian Pacific FB page and it brought back lots of South Pacific memories. I was on a few of these so chances are I was on this one.
Had our Real estate agent over yesterday as McMansion sales have ground to a halt in the last year. It is a good thing we don't have to move in a hurry as we would have to take a lot less for the place if we did. Looks like we are here for a couple of more years. I guess I will do that work on the layout I was putting off in anticipation of moving. We have been here 24 years and the house is six times what we paid for it. Last year it was seven times. Oh well, they aren't making more land so we will just hang tough. I think the kids are happy about that, especially my son as he will be within commuting distances of the movie studios this summer.
A good friend of mine was quite obese and I got him on the road to losing a lot of weight as he was borderline diabetic and freaking out as he passes out at the sight of needles. He has lost 80lbs and is off his Blood pressure meds that he had been on since he was 40, is no longer closing in on Diabetes territory and the best thing is he no longer needs those little blue pills to put a smile on his wife's face. That last one was the biggy for him as she is gorgeous and slim and it was a problem for them. He is a happy camper now. Says he feels 18 again.
Well back to emptying the filing cabinet, lots of memories flowing back from doing that. I would place messages (with photos) in the newspapers regarding the Birthdays of some of my favourite friends and relatives. I still have all those clippings, Hmmmm, that gives me an idea.
All the best to all.

Closing in on 10pm and I will be heading for the hay in a few moments. Petra and I spent hours searching for a decent habitat for us, but no luck. The ones close to what we have in mind are too expensive and the apartments within our budget are either too small or somewhere up on the 5th floor, without an elevator to get us there. Finding the right place is going to be a lot more than just a challenge.
Well, folks, that´s all for the moment - see you next month!
Happy times!

BigDaddyKevin that's not fair. You are going to have to send us 45 of your degrees.

It is not clear that we have any degrees to spare.
It only got up to 84 yesterday... brrrrr.

I stumbled on these books at an auction site. I had no idea Catechism had anything to do with steam engines. Apparently the definitive book in it's day. Looks like dry reading to me.

Good Morning, Folks!
Yesterday has been the warmest day of the year so far. The thermometer showed 62F, which is unusually warm for the time of the year. The weather is back to normal, 41F, clouy and the occasional sprinkle of rain. March start wet and windy.
If no one objects, I´ll be happy to start the March in New York State, if somenone then takes over the reigns for the month.
Pit Karges of Luxembourg has built a breathtaking D&RGW-themed layout under the motto "First Snow On The High Line", which made to Ontraxs! fame a few years ago.
February 2019 ends with lots of snow on the real thing!
Ken - I am glad to hear that Sparkie appears to be feeling better.
Flo, wake up! I will have a please. If the gang show up give them one as well.
Pretty Boring Day. Work sucked so that is normal.
Spakie Is back to his being old self, not sick just old.
Wife is back to enjoying her hobby. Worrying about everything that could go wrong with her. This nothing new, for the last 15 years I have been hearing about what might go wrong.
Reading the last Clive Cussler current fiction aventure book. Yep I have read ever fiction action aventure book he has published so far. There is a new Dirk Pitt coming out March 12th and I am number 1 on the list!

"Not I said the.........." I have never started a thread here and at the moment don't have the time to learn. Right in the middle of way too many "important" things to have the time to do that. Way behind....
Some other time maybe, but can't this month.

Ozark Mountain Rail has a narrow guage Shay for sale. Needs a full restoration, only $910,000! They also have a restored SW1000 for 400 grand. That compares to a GP9 for $91K and and SD50 for $355K
You need to register to see these, which means you get an email every week, which is amusing, at least to me. Everything from fittings, to seats to private varnish.

Mornin' Folks!
I am about to hit the shower and get over to the Fieldhouse for my morning 4 mile walk. we currently have some "little white thingies" falling outside. May get a couple inches of the stuff today. One of great side effects of the weight loss and excersie is that my morning blood sugar was 94 this morning. Been under 100 for 4 stariaght days now in the morning. Last night was 114 which is also very nice.
cudakenAs long as he is not in pain, can walk and will eat we will keep him with us.
Ken, I have the same quandry with my little sweet kittie Manét. He is nearing the end of his life as well and is starting to show some signs of discomfort, but has always bounced back. He still can jump up on the bed, likes to snuggle, and doesn't appear to be in major pain. Not looking forward to that day when I have to help him cross over......... I have even talked to the pet sitter, and she will be on the lookout for signs of major discomfort when I am in Key West this April. She is willing to take him over to the vet if she feels it is best. Already have a message in my file saying she can make the decision if nessessary. Tough, but still wonderful to have had my kitties for this long (almost 18 years).
Best get myself moving. This afternoon I will be sitting in front of the computer screen hopefully finishing up the NMRA Division newsletter. Should have been out last week, but we are making some major changes in the publication that takes a lot of time for decisions to be finalized...
Worked sucked rail spikes so that is covred!.
Far Sparkie suffering he does not seem in pain. If he was we would do what we need to do. He seem to feel better today and wanted to eat. To welcome me home he threw chucks on his blanket. Not a big mess and with is stomach problems not that uncommon. He has been on a low fat diet for years because of it. Cost me more to feed him than Soyna my beloved 185 pound Irish Wolfhound?
As long as he is not in pain, can walk and will eat we will keep him with us.
BLI Pargon F7's question. Seems I have lost power pick up on the Mighty B&O F7b rear truck? Besides making sure the truck is pluged in to the circiut board, wires not pinched and still solder to the truck what else would you check?
evenin,
got stuck at w*rk 15 hours....... It seems the servers driving the old IP phones both main and back up decided to puke at the same time.
After they ( vendor) messed around for 4 hours I finally pulled the server card , reseated the memory and shoved it back in. ( they kept pushing the "reset" button ) it came up in 3 mins. So they wanted to reboot the back up server , but it still had active phones on it. So since we are in migration to new IP phone system we had the new phones cut over in the critical areas in case the old servers puked again. So once we had new phones cut over, we went to reboot the back up. It got hung and ( the reset button thing again) after an hour of " it takes those server 30 mins to boot" I pulled the card , reseated the memory , shoved it back in and it booted in 3 mins like the first one. The don't take 30mins.
Heartland Division CB&Q Good afternoon. Did any of you see in the news about the Amtrak train with 183 passengers stuck in snow in Oregon for 36 hours ?

Yeah, they been talking about that on Sub-Chat. Citty slickers cant figure out why they could not be rescued faster. I told them about the mountains, the trees and the switchbacks.
Why couldn't 'they' (the onboard crew?) move the tree and get on their way.
And how come there wasn't a rescue train a few minutes away. Oh Well

I'm for New York State. When I lived back East in CT in my younger, thinner days, I used to solo backpack in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Mountains. Fond memories.

Hello....all
Thanks for the welcomes back.
Mr. Otte, you'll have to put me back in touch with that lovely lady.
Younge Steven, I don't know what a "Hamburger menu" on crome is??? I have a Samsung SJ7. I'm not overly thrilled with it, but it works and is cheap, except for this site. It keeps telling me on signin that I need a valid email address, WEll, Kalmbach can sufrely send me stuff to my email address, so IT MUST be working, just not to get on the site, and I don't mean just the forums, I mean ALL site content.
On the subject of aminals {spelled incorrectly on purpose}, 2 days before TG we had to lut our beloved 20 year old cat to sleep. Thats a long time to have someone. His kidneys were failing, apparelnly long before we knew it. If we hadn't taken him to the vet, we never would have, but he was awfully lethargic, so we took him. fter a lot of last hurrahs at the vets, we finally decided it was time to put him out of suffering, and he was rapidly losing weight. WE have a cat shaped urn with his ashes in it and I had a digital pic off my smart phone blown up to 8X10. WE just didn't want to have to do it before TG, a holiday. But I see no reason to keep em alive just so OUR hearts won't be broken. They'll break anyway.
The new replacement was a rescue kitten who took aobut a 20 mile up on hte wheel well of a pickup before the driver hear meowning adn found him....He's a REAL PICKLE. He's into everything and anything, and we've done things like lock him out of the bathroom, due to he'll knock off the soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste adn all, and get into trouble, with a capital T. Hes about 6 mos old now, we are keeping him as an indoor cat, as was his former. hes a black/white tuxedo DSH. He is on the back of tghe computer chair, though he'd rather be on the KEYBOARD....!!!!
On the subject of computers I don';t know much either. This one is about 8 years, takes forever to come up so's you can use it. I hate it, mysmart phone is sooooo much faster,
Ive got to get a printer working on this thing, have some stuff to copy off type out and print off. The one I have will go to best train nut friend.......then a wireless printer will take its place.
We did get a laptop but i need to take it in to getg it set up properrly. its predecessor I tried to, got it screwed up,and then needed to pay to set it up anyway. so the newest laptop I will take in...when we have the money.
Im not working so extra money is in short supply. On baby step 2 {agan, for good this time}, we will get to where we have some extra in about a year or two. Those in the know will know what that means.
WEll, i'll get off here, but don't expect to see me so much unless we get the phone thing worked out. I'll be in at least once a week, though, adn I'll read daily the forum.
My trains are still in boxes in the basement. I'm torn about selling them, but Like Ulrich, I don't want to. If i Had good knees and could navigate the basement steps, we have a lovely basement in which to play with trains.

There was a 131 vehicle pile-up near Neenah, WI., on Sunday, the 24th., on I-41, South bound lanes. 76 people admitted to hospitals, later about 66 released, and 1 fatality.
It was crazy. Makes you wonder what that many people were doing on the road. It was announced well ahead of about heavy blizzard conditions.
Winter continues. The 1st week in March is calling for below 0 weather each day.
Where's that groundhog!
Oh well, can't change it, more train time!

I mentioned earlier that we were supposedly in for freezing rain and high winds on Sunday and Monday. Fortunately in Bradford at least the freezing rain never materialized, and the winds weren't quite that strong. Never the less, the weather was bad enough to cause several large accidents. There were 70 vehicles involved in one situation on Hwy 400 just north of us, and major highways were closed all over southern Ontario. I was supposed to go to the club tonight but it wasn't worth the risk driving into Barrie in bad weather.
The good part is that I got a bunch of work done on the control panels for the club's new layout. I had been procrastinating because I wasn't quite sure how to get the turnout position LEDs the right colour. I solved the problem by installing micro connectors on each of the LED leads. If the colours are backwards all we have to do is switch the leads.
Spring is supposed to come all at once to Ontario. That's great, but they didn't say when.
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
