We've been in Sacramento four days and haven't seen a Cab Forward yet.

Let's fix that. The transfer is a little fuzzy but the subject is as sharp as ever!

Some great pacing shots of the 4274 here...

Meanwhile — up on Donner:

Enjoy, Ed

Good Morning All,

Just a regular to go please Zoe.

Not much done this weekend after all. Yesterday was family lunch or Christmas as a present to my wife last year was a commitment from the kids to all get together once a month as a family now that most have gone their seperate ways. The youngest is still home but he gets his masters this year so we have our hopes up. Watched the game after chores and a little time on track work but mostly read instead. Outcome as expected - I guess the Rams are not the Giants though their defense was very good.

Love those Daks Ja, but I thought Amon Duul was a place right outside of GondorHmm. On the other had you are just by Middle Earth. On another note, at Hampton Downs one year we had an overflight by the just restored Mosquito. That was special.

Lots to do today, it should be warm enough to get some time organizing the interior of the primary transport trailer. I plan on changing over to 4' LED fixtures to save room and cut draw on the breakers. The cold weather flourescents I originally put in are very bulky and we're constantly hitting our heads on them loading the upper deck of the trailer. We shall see.

I love the pics of railroading in the Sierras. My dad wasn't into it so when we lived out west it was all hiking on the John Muir and other trails. By that point I preferred to go to the beach. Oh well. My wife and I have tried to make up for it on holiday by touring the tourist railroads and museums when we go out that way.    Catch ya later, J.R.

Hello, again, Monday Morning!

NWP SWP
I sat by myself most of the night, this girl came over and sat on the floor next to me at one point, I shoulda tried talking to her but like a  I didn't.

At your age I was just as shy and awkward. However, that scenario could have been an opening for you. She may have been testing you.

You could have got out of your seat and said, "You shouldn't have to sit on the floor, would you like to have my seat?" Years ago this is how it worked on street cars and busses.

The girl may have thought, gee, here's a guy who has courtesy and respect for a lady. I'm interested. Maybe I'm just being old fashioned, but I still hold doors open or offer a seat for ladies — and gentlemen, too.

I hope you get a chance to see her again.

Another chilly and rainy week for Sacramento. Maybe we came here a month too early? Well, at least we don't have to plow any sn*w..

I hope everyone is doing well!

Cheers, Ed

Evening folks,

WOW WHAT AN AMAZING GAME, A REAL EDGE OF YOUR SEAT SUPER BOWL!!!

Just kidding, it want too bad, I went to the church student ministry SB Party, it was ok, I sat by myself most of the night, this girl came over and sat on the floor next to me at one point, I shoulda tried talking to her but like a Dunce I didn't.

Anyways, the preacher was there, it was pretty funny when the halftime shows lead singer started to disrobe on stage and the preacher says (jokingly) "alright that's enough time to turn it off" Laugh

I particularly enjoyed the commercials, the Twilight Zone teaser was pretty cool, then the NFL 100 commercial with all the greats of the sport didn't make much sense, who in the world was the girl/woman in the red dress that caught the ball?

On the way to the party I saw an Orange 69 Boss 302 and a Wimbledon White 64.5-66 Stang coupe not sure where they were headed.

I accidentally boxed the preachers car in with my truck! The started asking who was driving the big Blue Ford and I realized it was mine so I went out there an quickly got it out of the way.

Speaking of my truck, ever since I got the coolant leak fixed my truck sounds like a race motor or something, not sure what happened maybe the timing being right since I had the chain replaced made a difference?

Well that's all for now.

Steve

Dave introduced himself to me with his full name and asked what my name was. In response, believe it or not it is John Allen. That is my first and middle name. I'm a little leery about plastering my last name on the internet since it is very unique and I am the one and only in the United States.

Hello John Allen,

I fully respect your decision to not publish your last name. My last name is pretty rare, but it is out there. I'm not too concerned if some idiot decides to try to missappropriate it. I've had to deal with much worse problems in my life.

Rams went to St louis , Colts went to Indy

Carrol Rosenbloom owned the Colts then the Rams.   He made his money making uniforms for WW2, and bought a major interest in a Havana motel, right before Castro took over.

The Baltimore Colts used to be the Dallas Texans.  When Nancy Pelosi's grandfather, mayor of Baltimore, met the NFL challange to sell 15,000 season tickets, the team moved to B.more

Rosenbloom was a big time gambler, betting on his own teams.  Some people said his death, swimming in heavy surf, in Miami, in his 70's was suspicious.

Robert Irsay actually bought the Rams and swapped with Rosenbloom.  Irsay was hated in Baltimore even before they moved and my father gave up season tickets he held for 13 years.  I think the last year he had season tickets, 1972, the cost for 7 tickets was around $60, for all... not one!

You know..... I wasn't born yesterday.

Football is a "Big Money Game"  HUGE.

Sometimes it looks like and reminds me of All Star Wrestling a little bit more every year.

Just saying!

The money spent alone on advertising and the Reap of the Harvest.   Believe me the Fat Cats have all their ducks lined up in the row at the end of this huge, built up media display.

I still like football but I liked old school (just like everything else) quite a bit better.

TF

My prediction. The crooked official calls in the Rams/Saints game will take the money. Why else would it be.  I'm sticking a matzo ball out here but I do believe the Rams will win.

Well, .... now I have a side to go for after all.  And I haven't even cooked my steakDinnerWhistling

Hopeful.... It's a Longshot!!!

Oh well,  I don't believe in much but I do believe I will have another beer...... and cook my steakLaughLaugh

Flo, get the gang and I a Beer please.

There is a football game today? Is Athearn and BLI playing?

When the Colts went to Indianapolis Ind Some people (Bob and Tom from the radio show) thought it would be a good idea to rename the Rams to the Trojan's and new stadium should be called the Condom. Whistling Big Smile I liked that idea!

Good morning all.......err evening I suppose. Still recovering from last night's surprise 30 birthday party for a buddy's son. It's been a long day so far, mostly spent in the horizontal position so tonights match up is getting minimal attention. Our 5 and 6 year old have been running the household all day and are in solid command of the TV and wifey and I are ok with that. Damn my head hurts......

I'm sure it's very nice up there. I haven't been there but I know the area. One day when I retire I plan on moving to Bishop. I don't really want to live in the mountains. I perfer to live in the foothills at the bottom of them so it's a short drive. We spend a lot of time at June Lake in the summer.

Bishop is a nice town, one of our favorite stops is the Mountain Rambler Brewery.

No. ....Not as great Garry.  I'm a humble enough man to know my own limitations when comparing work to one of the all time masters of the hobby.

At the very least I will strive to do my best not to disgrace the name and try to earn a notch somewhere in the middle of the totem pole. Maybe that is somewhat achievableIndifferentLaugh

Getting ready for the game making lots of food for the last few hours. We will definitely have leftovers, .... Maybe, .... not if Dominic shows up thoughDinner

Good Late Afternoon, Crew! It's a very mild and Spring-like 55°F/12.7°C with a clear sky and bright sunshine here in my part of NE Ohio. Both outside workshop doors are open and it seems strange to see snow still on the ground on such a beautiful day as I sit back and enjoy a pipe of one of my favorite tobaccos. Although  I'm not an American football fan and prefer baseball, I'm also a soccer and rugby fan. I watched the Manchester City vs Arsenal English Premier League soccer match this afternoon and tonight it'll be Ireland vs England in a Six Nations Championship rugby match that I've recorded. I was pressed into sharpening kitchen knives by the wife earlier and I also went ahead and cleaned up my model railroad work bench giving me plenty of room since it's all organized. Now I don't have to feel like I'm working inside of a small cardboard box! Have a great evening, everybody. Thumbs Up

Good Afternoon,

We are awaiting the arrival of 6" of the white stuff that is supposed to start this afternoon. Normally when it is as cold as it is, -7F, the snow is a very fine powder.

Ed, I agree with you on the PA's. No Canadian road had them although CN did demo a set but found them not suited for use here where they preferred a dual use loco. Also in a set they were too long to turn on a lot of the turntables up here. I have a set in D&H blue and silver which to me was the most attractive paint of all.

Had nice time at our friends last night. They live just outside the city so we have to do a short highway run to get there. Sure do love the sound of the straight 6 in our car when it is winding up.

Well we plan on lighting a fire in the fireplace and having a little wine and cheese plus listen to some light jazz on the stereo. No sports stuff for us. I liked Ray's cartoon about sports.

. . .Not sure what you are doing with flickr ... The curved arrow to share a photo is on the bottom right corner of a Flickr image page. Click on it and you should have four choices of codes. Copy the BB code and paste in in the post body in the forum. . .

For some unknown reason, I do not get the BBcode option. I am happy to have found a work around.

Ever since I was a little kid the Rams were my team. It might have been a west coast thing but I think it might have been the helmets. I've been a fan ever since the days of Jack Youngblood. Back then they were always just one game away from the Super Bowl then they finally made it only to lose to the Steelers in the final minutes. They had the lead at the end of each quarter until the last one. Dang the Terry Bradshaw!
Then in the 80s they were still just one game away back in the days of Eric Dickerson and Jim Everet, always losing to the Bears or 49ers.
Finally at the turn of the century they made it to the Superbowl two years in a row with Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk, beating the Titans but losing to the Patriots. Boo Patriots!
So this year it's payback time. I hope you all enjoy the game. Go RAMS!

Lone Wolf and Santa Fe ..........prefered the eastern side of the mountains. You can go camping at almost anywhere along hwy 395 and have the whole place to yourself. And if you turn west in Bishop, you'll find my in-laws cabin nestled in Aspendell at about 9,000 feet above sea level.

Morning all! I'll just have the usual, a cup of coffee, regular.

Lone Wolf and Santa Fe

And if you turn west in Bishop, you'll find my in-laws cabin nestled in Aspendell at about 9,000 feet above sea level.

Ah yes, Super Sunday. Being a Steelers fan, I want the Rams to win. There are plenty of reason to not want the patriots, and we'll leave it at that.

up831 - there should be plenty of websites that you can stream and watch the game.

Here in Las Vegas, NV, rained off-on most of yesterday, with last night being the heaviest, accompanied by wind. Damaged some patio decorations, so I'll be making minor repairs today.

Yesterday, I did manage to get some weathering done on a centerbeam flat.

Sunshine today, with more rain tomorrow. See y'all later.

Good morning Diners,

Brunhilda, extra large coffee with lots of cream, hash browns scattered, and cheesy scrambled eggs with buttered grits on the side, please.

Ah yes, it's Super Sunday.  No snacks, no party. We can't even get the game because we don't have cable and CBS just doesn't come through where I live.  Not that I really care anyway.

Kevin:  It's kind of sad to have an empty house for the game, but then again you can watch it without interruption. Happy snacking.

Ed:  I like the E units or PAs idea.  I think it would also be nice with some FM Trainmasters in SP Black Widow scheme.  Is that picture on the west side of the bay?  If on the coast or east side of the bay, it's heading north and would be after the game.

It's 44 F outside, a far cry from the -23F just a couple of days ago.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

I herdd that there would be a football game today.  LION will root for da EAST COAST TEAM.

About twenty years ago my young nephew googled XXX and all that he came up with was Superbowl 30.

Whale... LION will watch part of the game. Starts at 4:30 in our time zone, and of course Vespers is at 5:00, so we always miss the first hour of the game. Nobody has convinced the abbot to start Vespers at 4:00.

Oh well, we will see what we will see. We do make a supperbowl picknic out of the day with aupper in the community room. At least we give the cooks off for the game.

Good morning, everybody .

We arrived home last night from Nashville where we again visited with my wife's ailing 93-year-old Mom. Assuming she recovers, it will be a long recovery. Currently she is very weak, weighs 77 pounds, and has diminished mental capabilities. Hoping she will eat more than she is eating to gain weight and strength. Also hoping her thinking capoabilities come back.

Ed .... The phtos from Amtrak's CZ look great. I think the dome cars on the original CZ had a much better view, but sadly those days are gone.

I'll catch up with more of your posts later. ..

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!

.

One of the only three sporting events I bother to watch. I have 50 chicken wings, 12 bottles of PBR, guacamole, tortilla chips, pretzels, and chili dogs.

.

I am ready to go.

.

I will watch all the pregame stuff, and have a great time today.

.

It has been about five years since my daughters came over for the Superbowl, so it is also kind of sad to remember all the good times we had on this pointless party day when they were young. The best one was about 8 years ago when my middle daughter was a newlywed, and there were about 20 people here.

.

Now it is just me and my wife.

 Afternoon

Hum, John Allen. Yep I can understand why you did not want to post that name on a Model Train site. It would be like me on a Mopar Site and my name was Don Garlits!

 Later, Ken

Yep you hit the nail right on the head here. When I first joined the Forum and was contemplating names I thought of using my real name for a brief millisecond. Then common logic took over..... a brand new guy on a model railroad Forum with a name like that.... Ahhh NoLaughLaugh   I left you a message last night Ken trying to contact you about the problems with your house. If you're having second thoughts about talking to a stranger off the internet I completely understand.

Charlie  I have heard about the problems with the weathered ME track. Thanks for looking out for me and reconfirming what could have been a bad decision.  I have done some experimentation with the standard ME flex and found a really good way to bend it uniformly and easilyYes
