I like little Steamers with character George. It reminds me of The Little Engine That Could
You are exactly correct Ed. The McGiffert Loader. Pictures were taking at the Duluth Depot on our short four day weekend vacation last summer. When we got up in the thing and looked down it felt like we were going to tip over while we were up there. That made it more fun though.
Looking good Harrison. That scene has come a long way. You showed an old under-construction picture of this the other day, I do recall
I think this thread a good idea.
Here is the completed scenery on my Rt. 9 underpass.

Yes, it sure looks that way. I did some digging and found your machine to be a McGiffert Loader:

Hence, the "under-running" skids, much like an old woodie roller coaster would have. I found an old photo of a similar, but much larger, dock crane that was rigged with a similar shoe/skid system.
Image from page 360 of "Electric railway journal" (1908) by Internet Archive Book Images, on Flickr
It looks like the skid is only on the outboard rail where the counter-lifting would occur.
Neat Stuff!
Speaking of cranes... (and water tanks)

This looks like a fun adventure

I like the water tower Peter.
This was a fascinating contraption. it's a Timber loading car. You would think it would tip over.
Here is the underside of it.
Track fiddlerI do like old water towers too.
Me too, took several shots of this one which is located in Elmira, Ca. Not sure if it served the railroad, but is very near the UP tracks, (formerly SP).
Thanks & regards, Peter
Boothbay Railway Village just completed a full, operational restoration of our Baldwin, 2 foot gauge SD Warren Paper Company #2 locomotive, so one of our volunteers kitbashed a G scale 0-4-0T to match. This is the model

Track fiddlerI added another rule. Rule number 4. I did itemize them, so go check that out on your spare time.
I was laughing so hard, I had to wait a moment to post !
Track fiddlerbut I think your car would have made a great car for Mr. Bubble
I seem to recall, that Tyco made a "MR. Bubble" boxcar. White side's , Baby Blue roof and end's, and a happy smiling Bubble face.
( I could be wrong...... My memory's of the early 70's is very faint....)
Rust...... It's a good thing !
Timmy, First Off, Great Job.
I like that old stuff. Especially old wood reefer cars.
I added another rule. Rule number 4. I did itemize them, so go check that out on your spare time.
PS Timmy great job again, but I think your car would have made a great car for Mr. Bubble.... don't get me wrong. It just struck me as funny
Track fiddler I think I might start collecting beer box cars.
I like the older "Bilboard" Beer refer's.
This is a cardstock car from the NMRA Bulliten I believe from 1973
I used the roof from a Round House old timer refer. Detail part's ( Hinge's and doorlatch's from Grandit line. scratch built grab iron's from Brass wire. ) Truck's are Kaydee Archbar truck's.
I used Brass sheet on both side's , and just glued the cardstock side's to the brass.
"Oh my gosh , It's Frothnslosh" !
" That pale stale ale, with the foam on the bottom" .
I like this thread..... but you guy's are gonna wish I never found it..... I'll be posting ALL the time..... your gonna get sick of seeing me.

My favorite thing in this hobby is bridges. I love bridges, I like looking at them, I like building them. I do like old water towers too. This is a Northern Pacific water tower preserved at Bandana Square in St Paul. Isn't she sweet
PS. I didn't really appreciate how they took Northern Pacific off the water tower and put Bandana Square on it
dragonriversteelWho the maker of the wagontop caboose ? Brass ?
Hi, Patrick
That particular one is an Overland brass model. I bought it just before Spring Mills Depot announced their beautiful, plastic models.
They get snapped up as soon as they are available. Maybe they will re-run them again but SMD got pinched in the closing of the factory recently. You can sometimes find them at train shows or auction web sites.
Here's one of the Spring Mills Depot I-12 cabooses:

Here's a shot with a later paint scheme on one of the Spring Mills I-12s. I like the little Adlake marker lamps they included

Track fiddlerWeekday Picture Pages is simple. It runs Monday through Thursday. The rules are also simple.
I'll try to help kick-start your new thread, TF. I did try to keep this one going, too, but somehow it got left in the etherworld—
http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/271699.aspx
Why limit it to Monday through Thursday? Just let it run. Sooner or later someone is going to get ruffled over Europe or Australia being in a different time zone. What about a holiday that falls on a Monday? You get my drift...

I'm just throwing this one out here. New treads seem to be a little slim on success. I think this could work.
Weekend photo fun is enjoyed by many. It's my favorite. WPF serves Friday through Sunday. What about Monday through Thursday?
Another thing to consider. Show Me Something, sometimes comes to a standstill because nobody has what is requested to post. One can fall back and post on this thread at that point.
Weekday Picture Pages is simple. It runs Monday through Friday. The rules are also simple.
RULES
1) Any Forum Member can post anything they want that has to do with a model railroad or a prototypical railroad.
2) This is a very relaxed thread. There is no wait for your turn. Anyone can post any time they want. If a forum member wants to post a picture of some kind of factory, industry or some other image that they think would look good on a model railroad, they can do that with a description of what they're thinking about.
3) A forum member does not have to post a picture. They can comment on anything or say anything relating to this thread or something to do with railroading or another member's post.
4) Added rule: If a forum member knows another forum member he can talk a little smack (within reason), just so it doesn't get too carried away.
This Thread will be a good filler. Just post your railroad images or comments on a weekday and we will all have more to look at or read about.
Okay I will start it off.
I found this Hamm's beer car at a railroad show. I found a Miller beer car at the next show. I think I might start collecting beer box cars.
Thanks for your participation. If this works, it works, if it don't it don't
