...I couldn't quite make that last image out...

Looks to me to be a gold-plated rail joiner, with simulated bolt heads.

She is a beauty !

Yea, I kinda like the newer stuff too. But there's just nothing like an old steam locomotive to get the creative juice's flowing  ... for me anyway's .

This is a narrow gauge 2-8-0 that I bought at a garage sale for $30.

( there's another one in the box..... )

Great looking locos you're working on

I like old locomotives and modern-day locomotives Timmy. Here's one of those old west... old locomotives

Isn't she sweetStick out tongue

That's a heck of a cow catcher. A little baby would get gently brushed off the tracks if this lovely machine was coming through slow. Talk about a headlight, they didn't mess around in the old west days

I now have picture's of new junk to show you.

First up, The Demon's Hollow & Pacific "Future fleet" of SD-9's.

I took enough picture's to keep you guy's "interested" for at least a week ! But I'm going to spread them out ...... ( nobody like's "Stale" Timmy picture's )

Rust...... It's a good thing !

I don't know what this one is though? The picture was taken in Duluth. Would there have been a DMIR F7 with no writing on it, Don't know?

TF, et al -

Just one more bit of input: This may require Steve Otte's blessings in order for it to become a regular weekly thread.  Given the presented ground rules he may be fine with it.  However, I wanted to give you all a heads up - just in case...

Okay.  That makes sense Brent.

Let It be written. Let it be done. WPP (Weekday Picture Pages) will be Monday through Friday.  The Forum monitors will put a lock on it.

This was my intent from the start.  I do not want to infringe on WPF.  I love Weekend Photo Fun.  It's my favorite thread.

Okay.  I think we're all good hereWink

I think Monday to Friday will work provided the thread gets locked at the end of the week, otherwise, people will continue to contribute to it and we will end up with multiple WPP threads going at the same time.

I think I have enough feedback now to make a somewhat group decision. I'm going to leave this the way it is, with one small tweak. The thread is called Weekday Picture Pages. Monday through Friday are the weekdays. There will only be a one-day overlap with WPF.

I don't think any toes will be stepped on or any feathers ruffled hereWink

If anyone has a problem with this, nothing is written in stone hereBig Smile

So you are saying let it run through the week for now Henry, or leave it as it is, only on weekdays?  I'm also interested what anyone else has to say about this.

Just a thought: If you let this thread run both week and weekend then I think you devalue WPF and it becomes unneeded.  The plus to WPF is that it currently allows partakers Tue-Thu to take and prepare their photos for display on the Fri-Mon thread.

If there is to be two photo threads then:

  1. Have WPF run Fri-Sun and WPP run Mon thru Thu, and
  2. Make midnight Thu & midnight Sun CST (since that's the time zone where Kalmbach is based) your transition points between the two threads

My My 2 Cents...

I like this thread because it fills a gap between WPF and Show Me Something. To make housekeeping easier I think it should be a monthly thing like all the others. Weekly changes are too fast for those of us that might be away for a few.

So unless anyone objects I may just drop weekday from the title and let it run all week

Limited time only!  I like that, it's good marketing and less likely to get stale.

I really like F7's, second to steam locomotives. I don't know what this one is though? The picture was taken in Duluth. Would there have been a DMIR F7 with no writing on it, Don't know?

I want a pic everyone's brains for a moment.  There has been requests that this thread runs all week. I set this thread up this way because I didn't want to infringe on WPF. I would not want to step on any toes so to speak. This Thread is a little different though because it involves model railroading and prototypical railroads. So unless anyone objects I may just drop weekday from the title and let it run all week.  Thanks for listeningWink

Sorry I can't copy and paste the photo directly, at least I don't know how.

It's not easy because of the way that web page is constructed. But if you go to the source code for the page, you can sometimes find the image URL and post here the usual way.

I like the idea of re-starting weekly, and the weekday (instead of weekend) focus.  The reason I like a fresh weekly thread is that I do not have to find out where I left off if it were one forever thread.

The following link has what I find a rather interesting photo of Big Boy #4014's main assembly; i.e., smokebox, boiler, firebox with rear cylinders and trailing truck.  An impressive bunch of metal.  Sorry I can't copy and paste the photo directly, at least I don't know how.  I think it's worth a look.

Baltimore and Ohio FT #800 locomotive provided the south bound power for the 16-car Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train we road through the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park in August 2013.

Something different.

I propose, too, that we have a WOYWB* segment where anyone can post a photo of what's happenin' in the paint booth or work bench.

*What's On Your Work Bench

Here's a start:

The Nickel Plate modernized a couple of their heavyweight diners to match the new equipment coming from Pullman Standard in 1950.

I've always wanted to include one of the "betterment" cars for my Nickel Plate passengers Smile

Here is a similar, No. 129, that has a slightly different window pattern.

Suggestion for the title: Wacky Photo Pages, or Wacky Photo Folio.

That's if we're going for the just let it run idea.

My Contribution for today .....

Alco model's SD-40.

This was a custom job for a client who changed his mind at the last minute. So it's been in it's box for a few year's .

I was going to strip the paint , and re-paint it in Southern Pacific "Bloddy nose scheme"..... But after digging it out of it's box, it's kinda grown on me. I'm seriously concidering finishing the lightning stripe's and other small detail's .

I just have to come up with a "Plausable" reason for it to be on the Demon's Hollow track's.

Rust...... It's a good thing !
