Good morning ... I'll have coffee and an apple turnover, please.

Ed .... The '46 Caddy looks great .... Thanks for sharing the photo.

MLC .... Sad to hear about your co-workers losing their brothers. Being an electonics guru, you may be interested in the LED project Dan is discussing here in the Diner recent days.

Dan .... Your LED project sounds challenging to me.

Everybody ....... Have a good day.

I get the whole Zepplin thing as to why people like them, but they did rip off a lot of their music, blues guys, note for note. Willie Dixon was sucessful in sueing them.

Not much going on here in the world of MLC . Chugging along. I have had 2 co-workers loose their brothers in the past few weeks. One had a stroke during surgery and the other from bile duct cancer they had found in July.

Mornin' guys!

Just some coffee for me this morning.

Steven Otte

Edit: Hm, the video won't embed. Probably because it's the official version. Anyway, the one I'm talking about is Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

That's a good one; though I lean a little more towards Kashmir myself.

Tried getting my little 32-LED lighting program working last night.  It's acting up pretty bad right now, but I think it's because I'm trying to work with the 32 LEDs as 32 bits directly, rather than 2*16 bits.

Or the breadboard is just really bad :).

Gonna try a few things today / this weekend before I get the prototype boards from China.

Gidday Chloe, would the cook be able to rustle up the Roast Loin of Young Pork, Pan gravy, Baked apple and stewed cranberries, off Eds Pennsy menu, please. Though I expect to pay more than a buck 40!

Favourite Led Zeppelin song, oh boy that’s a toughie!!
“When the Levee Breaks”, “Travelling Riverside Blues”, “Kashmir”, ‘The Battle of Evermore”??? I just dunno! Perhaps I’ll just ramble on…
(Yes, I do know that the first two are covers of early blues songs.)

Hi Diners,

just a quick note before bed.

it's hard to pick a song that's "perfected."

We used to think that the Beatles couldn't be improved on.  Well, Sergio Mendes and Earth Wind and Fire disproved that.

Zeps "Bringing it Home", I turned off to Zep for a lot of years because the first part of the song is a note for note copy of Sonny Boy Williamsons version, even to the texture of Plant's vocals.  Not fully understanding song copyrights at the time, I thought they had ripped Williamson off and took songwriting credits for themselves.  You know, ya grow.  Now I know that Zep was a very good band.  However, I'll go with "the Rain Song" or "Black Dog."

My two cents:  I for one think that the newer music is musically not as good as the older stuff.  I believe its prove able.  The newer stuff is too formulated.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Garry, been using DDG for a while, and I like them.  Though sometimes Google finds things they don't.

Dan ... Thanks for replying about my comment regaring DDG..... It works well for me.

Lion .... Good to see your old photo of cats.

Ed ... I like your picture of Wilson and also your MRR photo.

Ken .... If I recall correctly, the Grand Funk Railroad got started in Flint, MI where the Grand Trunk Railroad operated.

Well I met with Annalise, talked with her and her mother, then practiced our duet, it went well.

I'm planning to ask her out still, just gotta get up the gumption to do so.

I'll be around.

Couldn't resist that one Steven.  For some reason that GFR video wouldn't work for me Ken.  I found it on YouTube. I also watched I'm Your Captain and Mean Mistreater while I was there. Good stuff.

I'm looking forward to getting my track next week. I finally have enough bridges built to do a twice around with exception of one area where I'll just put in a temp.

I have all these locomotives and rolling stock bought at train shows and online.  I have never seen them run, with exception of back and forth only..... should be funSmile

Anyone heard the saying "live and let live", apply that to this situation about music.

Worked for me.  I saw them in Gainesville in 1970 along with Sly and Family Stoned.  I guess I was part of the family, don't remember much.

Your video wouldn't play Ken. There was an error. The music fits my category as some Grand Funk Railroad is in my library.

Good call Ed. I like the photo. I won't be needing any eye drops hereLaugh

Well I have finally decided on track after nearly two years of controversy and weighing out all the pros and cons of all the brands. I am getting ready to order it from MTS.

My choice would have been Micro Engineering code 70(N scale) but being that they're limited to only a number 6 turnout, my choice is atlas code 55.

I would really appreciate feedback if anyone has this track or is familiar with it.

Whether good or bad to say about it, that's fine. I would just like to know if I'm missing anything here before I order it next week.

So why bother to post any of it?

Ed you have great detail.

My wife's niece showed up.  An absolutely stunning young woman with a nose ring and a boyfriend who wears Viking shoulder armor.

That's not him, he's not that good looking.  As bad as Baltimore has become, it's probably been a couple hundred years before anyone was attacked by a sword.

I think that's where the name "Head Banging Music" comes from. Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head

     I love music.

          I love food.

I wouldn't presume that another person would have the same taste in music OR food that I have so I don't try to persuade someone to consume it through their ears or their mouth.

Just sayin'

Led Zeppelin was brought up a little bit ago. A billion people can't be wrong.

I have quite a library of music. That library is not missing any one of Led Zeppelin's classic albums and more. I cannot pick a favorite Led Zeppelin song. There isn't any that I don't like. Just a few I don't love. "Bring it on Home" could be ranked up there

I do have a favorite album of theirs.

Had the last two days of music been equivalent to this category. I wouldn't have needed so much Excedrin for my ear aches and headachesLaugh

As I said a couple months ago, taste in music is personal.  I was criticized as a grumpy old man.  While it's not quite political, you either like it or you don't.

Many of us remember the Beatles and our parents hated it.  Elvis was controversial when he first came on to the scene.  Whatever followed Beethoven and Mozart was probably hated by parents.

I may have posted a music video if it made a humorous point.  No one cares what music I like so my posting what I think is hot on Youtube is presumptuous.  Do you want to see what raw seafood I had tonight.  Probably not.  You are a fan or you are not.

A perfected song is the epitome of its particular musical style, as good as it can possibly be,

"Bad" is also a style of music.  Those songs, above, are the epitome of that style, so they must be "perfected".

To listen to that stuff requires ear plugs, plus a pair of those safety ear muffs in case there's an ear plug failure.

Okay . . . what about Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al from his Graceland album? Nice brassy chorus, terrific little bass break, bongos, even a penny whistle.

I don't know how to link YouTube stuff, but it's a pretty well known song and easy to find. Sticks in your head, too.

I could be wrong but I think some are missing the point here. A perfected song is stated in sarcasm.

There is nothing anyone could do to make it any better. The song is so lousy from the start it could not possibly be improved.

No, that's not what I meant at all. A perfected song is the epitome of its particular musical style, as good as it can possibly be, even if you personally aren't a fan of that particular style of music.

For example, I absolutely hate reggae music, but "Red Red Wine" by UB40 is about as perfect a reggae song as you can get. I'm also not a fan of country music, but it would be impossible to improve on "Stand By Your Man."

To give an example on the other side, here's an absolutely perfected rock song, which also happens to be one of my favorites.

Edit: Hm, the video won't embed. Probably because it's the official version. Anyway, the one I'm talking about is Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
