It's funny my mom was catching up with an old friend and she was telling a story about how her daughter was dumped by her "boyfriend" in the most cruel way imaginable, he told her all the things she isn't and that's why he's dumping her. (no she's not a possible date, she's out of my league, she's 21)
I almost won the Broadway Limited ATSF Northern in a bet.
Jr. bet me that I couldn't spell Weird Al Yankovics last name, I spelt Y-a-n-k-o-v-i-c-h there's now H!

But a Ward never loses a bet and doesn't challenge it.

Work Front As of this coming 8-5-18 I will have been with this company for 5 years. There was some debate if I should get my vaction pay with me being part time for the last 3 months? Well they decide this year I will get my vaction pay as full time, next year No unless I work 35 hours a week. I am now working 31 hours and I am still the manager?

Hard to believe it´s August already!
Thanks, Steven, for moving the Diner to - well, we still have to settle that. I did suggest Alaska, but nobody jumped onboard that cruise ship I was planning to take up north, so we still have the choice. Switzerland is fine for me. There are not many miles of rails left I have not traveled in that country, which is one but a giant model railroad, populated by train crazy people. The Swiss regard their trains as a national treasure, just like their mountains, lakes, cheese, chocolate and banks. If I remember correctly, the Diner folks joined me in a guided tour a couple of times, but there is still plenty to see left - providing we agree upon this location for the month!
Track Fiddler - I do not own this thread, so it was perfectly OK for Steven to facilitate the move. However, he missed to light the candle , so I take the liberty to do it for him.

A big thunderstorm swept over us in the middle of the night, so it has cooled off a little bit. All windows of our apartment are wide open to get the heat out, before the outside temperature start to rise again.

Ed - Switzerland.... Home of the Alps, originators of hot-cocoa, the makers of "the" Army knife that allows MacGyver to be MacGyver, home for lovers of chocolate, and a good hiding place of the hidden bank accounts of big-time money makers.... Not to mention some nice rail lines. I'm "cool" with that. (Before anyone jumps on my back for the "home of" remark, it is meant to be funny!)

Steven NWP - I don't fault you for opening early, seeing as how the Colorado location closed up ahead of scheduled departure time. Hey, at least we make better time than Amtrak!
Weather - So, I posted that scary looking pic from Sunday in last months diner, and, yesterday we had 2 more, but actually rotating (YIKES!), and today we had another one. ("Cold-air funnel" they said it was today.... on a day that hit 78F.... "Ha! Cold-air funnel.... Sure it was" .....)
I'm beginning to not like the weather guessers lately.... Can't even guess when a storm is severe enough to create a funnel cloud... Or, in our case here lately, 4 of them on 3 different days!
More T-storms the rest of the week here. I'm just waiting for one of these "cold-air funnels" to land... As "I don't think we (will be) in Kansas anymore, Toto".......
Trains - Ayone ever build a movable staging yard? I'm looking at the plan for the space I will be acquiring, and, there is room to add a staging yard off one end, but it would be way better if it can roll off to the side when not in operation. (Multi-use space area. And, it would not block access to a little-used closet, otherwise, it will be a "duck-under" to get to that closet... And I just know that "Mr. Murphy" will require that I get in that said closet immediately after the staging yard is put in place if it isn't easily movable. Make it easily movable, and I will never have to get into it, as Mr. Murphy will be less inclined to visit.)
Mainly looking for any lessons learned from them, if anyone has any.
As they say, Knowledge is the ability to know something. Understanding is getting the point of that knowledge, knowing that it is usable and helpful. Wisdom is knowing how to put that knowledge and understanding to good use. So, if anyone has any wisdom to provide in this matter, it would be appreciated. (And "common sense" is named wrong, because it's so uncommon now... But that's a different story.)
I know that locking casters will be a neccessecity, but any other tips and tidbits?
W*^k - Making the new boss wait until my current schedule is finished before moving to the new employer. Still debating on if I want to stay at the current location a couple of nights each week, seeing as I will be close to there already anyways. The new boss has no problems with me finishing my current schedule first. (At least, he said he didn't. And, as I am doing this before I start with him, he will know that I won't leave him without doing the same.)

You could always get a degree in music. There are plenty of schools that have very good music programs.
Hobby Front: Tried to finish replacing the lake covering on the section of layout that will be moving. Ran into a major problem: Couldn't make as much lake covering as I wanted to. Forgot that the blender's drive gear doesn't want to stay on. By the time I discovered that, the gear was shot. Got a few other things done though. Got two new legs installed on the end. Discovered that there was a leg in the middle of the structure that I forgot about. Can't get it removed as the bolts are buried, so it will need to be cut off. (Couldn't do that as I couldn't find a screwdriver to change out the broken jigsaw blade.) Determined that I will wait untill the section moves into town before I try to redesign the trackwork. (The only thing trackage that is fixed is the car ferry dock.) I have an idea or two on the redesign but I will have to wait. (Moving this section gives me an additional idea as to where to put the passenger station track. On the old layout there was a hill in the road.)
Got a new blender this afternoon and started on a new layout-related project. I decided to try to make my own ground foam. (Somewhere between 25-28 square feet is going to take a lot of foam.) I already had the foam pads previously. I had intended to do this quite a while ago. I finally decided to start on it with the new layout. I have a couple of batches drying by the sink. We shall see on how it turns out. I know that they will need to go through the blender again to get the foam chopped a lot finer.
Mom has said that she will take me out again next Tuesday. Maybe I can get the leg removed and get the lake covering finished.

Young Steven - you really are kidding! Saying that Switzerland has "some unique tunnels and stuff" is certainly not the right choice of words! Switzerland is the #1 railroad country in the world, with the most spectacular train rides, some of which have made into a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Pronouncing my name is even worse than getting it spelled correctly, as the U is to be pronounce as a short spoken "oo", like in "too" and the ending "rich" has the soft "ch" sound which is unique to the German language and is not to be pronounced "rich" as in wealthy.
