What's in a Tin Roof sundae?

the Bear
It would appear that the traditional Tin Roof sundae consists of vanilla icecream, chocolate sauce and a scattering of Spanish red skinned peanuts.

Sometimes a dollop of caramel sauce can find it's way in there, too!

...and for my "Dusty Road" (you can leave the peanuts on) you would sprinkle some tasty malt powder on top. Flo, there's an extra nickel in your tip jar if you make mine with Smucker's Hot Fudge in leiu of the plain 'ol chocolate sauce.

We can all go on a virtual diet on Monday Angel

Seriously I have some blue bunny pistachio almond ice cream unopened in the freezer. Also I have some hot fudge that you need to melt on the stove and add to it which would be very good yes.

Guess I've got some very good ice cream treats

I guess this will do I will be alright.

I just wonder if the Bears ice cream will be betterWink   Track fiddler

Also would like to wish those who have fallen on hard times that things get better soon... one thing I've learned is life's like a football field and as Andy Griffiths description of it goes "you gotta get that funny lookin punkin from one end down the other without gettin knocked over or steppin in somethin" and odds are thats not all that can happen...

Ed, USPS or Ultra Slow Postal Service decided that the package shouldn't get delivered on time... probably has something to do with the winter weather... makes you wonder why Amtrak doesn't resume mail service either via their own company or USPS...

Tin Roof sundae

It looks like it contains sweet tasty stuff that ain't good for my waist line let alone the blood sugar levels!!!Sigh

But hey, as its a virtual Diner, make mine a large one with the chocolate coated peanuts, and fudge, please Chloe.

It would appear that the traditional Tin Roof sundae consists of vanilla icecream, chocolate sauce and a scattering of Spanish red skinned peanuts.

Cheers, the Bear.Dinner

 Eveing Diners.

Flo, give the gang a cold Beer and Rick and Steven a Coke.

Work Front Ick! Nancy, Miss Influenza 2018 Showed Up Again! Still hacking but not as bad. I swear that womnan cannot talk to anyone with out Lying! Case in point. Had a customer that wanted a extra firm queen sizes mattress that would work on a power base. (raise head and feet) He was fine with the floor model and it was put out about 3 months ago but looked perfect! She had to add We put it on the floor last Thursday! Whistling There was not a darn reason for her to lied about it! Bang Head

I had been felling bad about telling the Marvin, Paul and Karmon when I start getting SS I won't work weekends! Nancy has got me well pass that! They will be luck if I don't quit first! Whistling

Ed Thank You for reposting the Photo, seems pretty simple like I thought.

Steven I remember there was a bridge, just not what kind. I will take the 4 lane auto bridge back next week and pick up a few more rolling stock kits. Could you use a single line RR Bridge? It is a Life Like bridge that is about 16" long and 10" tall. I bulit it around 8 years ago, but never added the need grade to use it. I am only guessing on the sizes, nut if you think you could use it I will check the sizes.

Howdy ..

Track Fiddler ... Sorry to hear about the situation with your wife's mother. Prayers for heeling and recovery .

Ray .... Sorry to hear about your friend Rosa.... I noticed the reporter has the same last name as you. Is he in your family ?

We got on the subject of adversities. I have had plenty in my lifetime, but I'll keep them to myself for now. I strive to keep every day a positive one.

I began working on details, etc. for my 1900 era scene. There is plenty to work on.

Happy Model Railroading

Sometimes life isn't very fair.

No truer words were ever spoken, Dave.

I somehow got through that sorrowful period through the help of a close family and friends. Surprizingly, one of my friends that I worked with at GE had gone through a similar situation some years before and I listened and tried to imagine what HE had gone through when his wife had a fatal cerebral hemorrage. We talked every day at lunch time and, of course, he didn't know it at the time, but he was giving me the strength to handle the same set of circumstances when I had to deal with it myself. Wow, that was 32 years ago. I must say the experience has given me a great appreciation for just how fragile life can be.

Cherish it.

I know you have had your own tragedy to deal with so you're no stranger to the anguish.

Well, lets try to keep things upbeat and positive Smile and put the despair on the back burner for a while!

I'd like to be sent off that way too.

Funny you should say that....  Presbyterians are known for being formal and staid... LOL  My Pastor came in for a few minutes (she had meetings with a couple groups for installation of officers tomorrow in church and our annual meeting) during the opening groups of songs (Rousing!) and after we both stood there clapping and moving with the music, I leaned over and told her, "When I do the high kickoff, this is the type of service I want....."  She nodded her head and grinned....

Evening diners.

The wife and I have been on a bit of  a rough road lately. Her mom has been ill her blood pressure is sky-high and she's had a hard time breathing. She was admitted to the hospital Thursday and my wife had to leave town to be with her. I could not get away from work. She drove up with her sister.

I can only wish and pray the best for her mom first priority. I have to say after being with someone for 25 years and all of the sudden she's just gone I feel like half of me is missing every day and every night. I went to a small railroad show in Woodbury today to get my mind off of things. I hope her mom Springs back soon and my wife can come back home I really miss her.

Take care   Track fiddler

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could sure use a cup of decaf to warm me up while I bare my soul here for a while.........

One week ago I recieved the message that a very dear old friend of mine passed on after having a slow decline from Dementia.  She technically died at home a week before that but was recusitated at the emergency room at our hospital and spent 3 days in ICU.  They then decided that she was not going to recover (no Expletive deleted!) so they put her Hospice care and removed all the life support.

Over the years since I moved here to Geneva, NY and particularly after my wife died and I became a member of the MLK committee (Was suggested after I became a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church) Rosa and I became friends.  She was the Vice President of the MLK committee at that time.  When the gent who was the President of the committe was killed in a horrible vehicle accident, she became the president and I was elected Vice-president.  I later became the Treasurer which is a position I still hold on the committee.  Anyway Rosa came over to my house many times to work on various items needing to be updated.  Usually we would figure that it would take a half hour or so....  And... after three hours, we would be at least half way done with the project, but......  Rosa and I would have solved all the problems of the world.  Unfortunately nobody would listen to us and that is why there are so many problems out there! Laugh

Anyway, today was Rosa's "Home Going Celebration" (most churches would call it a funeral or memorial service).  It was held at my church because we are one of the largest (capacity) in the Geneva area.  Good thing, as the church was packed.  There were 16 Ministers, Pastors, and Bishops speaking at the service which went on for 3 hours.  (Those folks really know how to send someone off!!!).  I provided extra mikes (for the choir) and made sure the sound was working.  A local City Councilman who is also a professional musician (and can still hear) worked the sound board.  One of the mikes I brought in for it is a Shurer KSM27 Large Diaphram Condenser mike I saved from back when I was in the recording business.  That has a sweet sound, and the councilman loved it!  I was in church for a total of 5+ hours today......

Since I know most all of her family (one daughter used teach elementary school here back when I was teaching, and another daughter works with kids who want to be college bound but don't have the finances nor background in their families to make it easily (She has done that both in the High School and at the local college...), and I have been the guy taking 100's of photos of MLK events over the years, I went through my computer files and found 12 really good portrait photos of Rosa, printed them, and dropped them off to one of her daughters.  Turns out they used four of my photos at calling hours, and at the service today.  Made me feel good!

Just a little about what this Southern poor country girl did with her life (from the obituary).  "....she helped establish a scholarship fund which has helped over 200 students realise thier goal of attending college.  She received the Loftus C. Carson Human Rights Award from the NYS Division of Human Rights; the Agnes Slosson Lewis award from the League of Women Voters; and the Springsted Award from the Geneva Rotary Club.  In May 2012, an honorary docorate of human letters was conferred on her by Hobart and William Smith Colleges in recognition of her service to the community."  ( I omited several other awards...)

I am very touched that she and her family consider me a good friend!  The local cable channel showed up and did a nice video piece on the  "Home Going Celebration"!  You can see it here if you desire: http://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/rochester/news/2018/01/20/geneva-civil-right-s-activist-rosa-blue-passes-at-86

Sorry to be so long winded, but, it has been a very long week and I am about ready to feed the cats, turn off the lights and head to bed.  Will try to get up in time to make it to church tomorrow morning.  BTW, one fun thing about having a former teacher and professional singer as our pastor is, both of us know how to get with the rejoicing music at things like this........

Later!  And, as Robert Frost once said, "I'm not confused, just well mixed."

Evening All! Flo (or whoever's handy), could I get some breaded mushrooms and a side a blue cheese dressing? Thank you so much. Could you also give all those with problems whatever they want want?

Hobby Front: Got the three turnouts that I had ordered. They form the beginnings of the new rail yard. I priced out the lumber and hardware for building the structure for that yard. However, I would have to rearrange the layout room a little to get the pieces installed whenever it does get built. (The storage table will be in the way.)

Picture Front: Monday I hopefully will get the chance to finally get the GMD GP9 photgraphed. The weather looks to be good enough. I also plan to go back later in the afternoon to see the transfer table working as well when it is parked inside to keep it warm. (I saw it work once many years ago. I plan to take a video of it and will try to send a copy to the uncle who took me to see it that particular day. I think he should get a kick out of it that it is working again.)

I guess it will be quite a while before I see a restaurant again.  The OH went to be feeling bloated.  Not the usual symptoms she has been having from the chemo.  I honestly don't know if I would be willing to put up with months of nausea and diarhea.  Her meds only help some.

Not complaining, I see other diner members have their share of problems.

I have yet to find any trains at a thrift store now that i think of it. I did get a Bachman spectrum engine off of the goodwill auction site once but that was about it.

SOme of you ahve posted how well your life has gone for you.

I was robbed at gunpoint at age 20 (every day since then has been a gift) —

Lost my job at 24;   First wife died when she was 27 and left me to raise two children and two foster kids.

Burned the house down (almost) back in 2012.

Still... life has been good (on averageSmile) At 61 I don't have any complaints.

Hey Gents

Got called into work tonight, coworker had emergency. We desparately need the money, so i working. But it sucks rail spikes for a friay nite. Only 7 check ins. First one didnt come until 3 hours into my shift. Have 4 to go in 5 hours left until midnite when I get out.

SOme of you ahve posted how well your life has gone for you. Thats great. Life for me has been sour grapes and FULL of adversary. only my early 20s were prosperous. Then medical issues set in. Ive had to start completely over 7 times in my life and moved to do so in many cases. Also a house fire took everythign I owned, a home invasion took what I had replaced after the fire, and I was once homeless living under a bridge nest to teh RR tracks. It was comforting to know the 12:05, the 2:30 aND THE  5:00 am ttrains were on time. It was winter too. NO, FAMILY WOULD NOT help out. I had a friend who let me sleep on his couch on bitter cold night and shower on ocassion and throw my laundry in with his. Finally beng homeless, I was able after 5 applications to get welfare, adn then to apply for my SSDI. My life has been a mess.

Even today, mY oh hours got cut and I got cut to 8 hours here adn that means 32 hours of pay are missing, and the company at job#1 for MOh did NOT come through wiht year end bonus this year, we were sick for two weeks, no paychecks adn are now definitely behind on almost all our bills. I have no idea how to pay the gasoline bill or the energy bill. Plus my van broke down $500 to fix. Needed money taken away form bills. I have absoloutely no idea where the funds will come form!!!! NONE! I sold off the old washer and dryer, am listing the portable dishwasher for sale just to get $$ to pay bills.

Recently a member here sent me somehtin, I said when I had funds I insisted on reimbursing him, but he declared NO WAY was I to do so! Thanks for that, you know who you are.

I have not been sleeping, I think due to the bill problem, aslo winter depression is firmly in place, and i go through cycles of not sleeping, but not usually in winter. Usually in winter I hibernate more, but not sleeping now is taking its toll, I have to get through tonight, tomorrow day shift and sunday 4-midnite before I can sleep a day away if I can! I have no choice. he manager originally wnated me to work tonight instead of tomorrow, but I wrnagled the extra day out of him, though I will come in tomorrow a little later than usual.

Garry: Nice work on the layout! Im envious! of both space and layout!

WEll, Id best get off here, the company has issued a "no personal use clause", so technically Im breaking it.

later

hope all is well for all.
