Too close for comfort! In a very similar vein, one of my co-workers from GE lost his son in the same kind of situation here in Chardon, Ohio a few years ago.

A sad commentary... and you're at a loss for words.Sigh

Angel to those who may be suffering,

MLC ... That is horrible.... Prayers for your coworker as well as all victims and their families.

When we go to or from Paducah, we drive by the Marshall County High School. It is right next to US 68.

A contractor had some workers at our house today who live in Benton. One of them had ason in the school who was not harmed. ... Sad ...

Add my condolences for your coworker as well.

Hobby Front: Managed to get the shop deck and the track laid to complete the shop yard. I ended up having to shorten the middle a little as I ended up cutting the outside track a little too short. (Not that it wasn't a good thing. It just gave a little more room from the edge of the section for installation of the machines.)

On the bottom of this picture is the newly installed turnout for the yard switch lead to feed directly into the turntable.

This is a closer up view of the new turnout. From looking at the way the track lines up, I will need to wait until I get the yard a little closer to reality before I can put any more track. The loose piece of track to the right is the piece of flex that was removed to install the turnout and the 3" straight section. I will end up reusing that piece to connect the straights coming out of the yard to the turnout.

I got the holes for the machines drilled but I didn't have time to get them installed. I also need to test the machines and built the electrical connections before I put them under the table.

Good evening all.

Chloe - A slice of apple pie for national pie day please. And, a slice of everyone's favorite pie, on me, to help get this place more like a party. And give Vinnie an extra slice, just to put a smile on his face. Thanks.

moelarrycurly4 - Sorry that you guys are going through that.

Ed (gmpullman) - That last photo is how I remember Kinzua my first visit there, although I went across on foot, as they allowed that back then as well. And to be under it and look up at her, it was impressive! And, coincidentally, the time I didn't get to go to Portage, was for 765...

Weather - Back to fluffy white stuff again.

W*^k - Meeting occurred this morning, the owner said he would support whichever way everyone else thought we should go. I'm not entirely convinced that the truth came out, nor is the store manager. But it was ultimately decided that a flat out warning would be issued to all, and see what happens. I did question big time the explanation that was given, as it seemed majorly off, but left it as I was questioning that. (I have some say at the store, being the senior associate behind the store manager now, but deferred to the others involved in the discussion as they have more say. And none of us other than the one giving the explanation were there at the time, so short of outright calling that person a liar.....) So, it is now a "wait and see" type deal. If the issue disappears, we will leave it at that. If the issue continues, all agreed a much more serious step comes next.

Funny part of the day, our truck was late, so I called to get a approximate location, and was told he was running late, and was still at the first store, 1&1/2 hours out.

Said truck pulled into the parking lot 5 minutes later. Dots - Sign

I asked if he broke the sound barrier on his way to our store, and then explained why. He laughed and said, "While I thought I made good time, I didn't realize it was that good!" Laugh

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the rest of the night!

Work Front Was a good day today. 3 customers and 3 bought and made a extra $140.00 in spiffs! Plus, my paycheck was way better than I hoped by $200.00.

Yesteday Sucked Rail Spike In A Ash Pitt! Sigh Bang Head Ick! Work Sucked, 3 customers and no one bought. It happens. Whistling Then I got home, and things went straight down the toilet! Bang Head

Seems Bank Of Stupid (Bank Of America) sold my home loan to Carrington Mortgage Services LLC. I looked up there reviews, they are God Awfull!

 https://www.consumeraffairs.com/finance/carrington-mortgage-services.html

As much as I hate BOS I wish they had kept the loan! First time my loan was sold I went from being up to date to 2 payments behinde for some reason?

Steven Nancy is the owners wife, so I am stuck with her for now. I hope to send you a package in the next two weeks. I got to take back the bridge and exchange it plus I am still working full time. Hard to get things done when I get home at 8:30 PM.

Evening diners, I'll take a slice of pecan pie with some custard for National Pie (that's PIE not PI as in 3.14 which is also a "holiday" and Albert Einsteins Birthday)

I don't follow news but its a travesty that children cannot attend school a place that's for learning is no longer safe from those doers evil...

In other "news", the club has welcomed two new full members, and instituted a new "junior" membership for minors, they welcomed three new junior members one of them being me. The club is in a bit of rough waters and is in need of about 10 new members on top of today's additions to be in the clear...

Well I'll be in the corner with my pie...

Top 'O the mornin to 'ya Diners! everyone have a latte on me! Grab a donut while you're at it.

Just a few loose ends before I turn in:

Steven, I was shuffling through papers a little while ago and found the directions for the "Clarkesville Depot" kit. Since Walthers doesn't seem to have them available online, I'll mail them to you in the next day or so.

Ken! I've had a few run-ins with Big Banking myself! Tongue Tied Bang Head  For me it was Fifth Third! I know where the name comes from. When I was done dealing with them I went home and drank a third of a fifth!

Good evening Diners,

Brunhilda, it's still early enough, I'll have an extra large coffee with lots of cream, please.  And give Ken and the gang an after workBeer

We have been blessed with semi-decent weather here the last couple of days.  Low 30s and upper 20s, and none of that below zero stuff.  Funny, superbowl Sunday is often one of the coldest days of the year.  Well, no complaints here if it isn't.

Old School:  Are we to understand that you manufacture display cases?  Some of that was a little vague.

Steven:  I'm glad and surprised that you were able to get the Kemtron cab forward casting so soon.  It's not like it was the hottest item in the catalogue.

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyoneis OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Afternoon diners, I'll take a cheese burger just the patty, cheese, bun and a big ginger ale...

Up831, I should've specified, I did not purchase the casting I found one, sorry about that...

Good night diners, I'll take a slice of cheese pizza, and a glass of milk to wash it down...

Well today had my first music lesson for the year, I now have "Moon River" and "Love Story (Where do I Begin)" to "performance" level and have now began to do "Just the Way You Are" and "Swing Down Sweet Chariot" both of which I'm pretty good at already just needs fine tuning...

Modeling front, I meant to sit down and start one of the building kits that have fallen into my possession (thanks again Ed) but seems I got sidetracked and forgot, oh well tomorrow's another day...

Diner's a bit quiet tonight... well I'll be in the corner with my pizza...

 Eveing Diners

Flo, I see UP831 is buying! Give me a bottle of Chateau Lafite 1787 and a Beer chaser to wash the taste out of my mouth.

Strangely I am in a peacfull mood. But then agin, I have not contacted the new bank. Whistling I am off Thursday and Friday but have a lot of running so not as relaxing.

Trying to make up my mind if I want to work 3 or 4 days a week after I take SS. I need to decied what to tell Marvin the company owner. Hate to screw him over with us being short handed! But then again I don't want to Work with his wife Nancy any longer! So I guess I am leaning toward 3 days a week.

Train Front. Pretty much at a stand still right now. Bought a new DH166 decoder for the Bessemer SD 7 Ed sent me. It has eaten 2 decoders when it was started on a turunout. Motor draw was only 1.35 amps so a 2 amp decoder should be fine! Guessing the wheels are out of gauge. I cannot check them because I cannot find my NMRA gauge! Bang Head Last time I remembr using it was when I was getting the fleet of B&O coal cars I bought from YGW. All so the reason I am hold on installing the the traction wheels on the BLI Hudson!

Might Quite B&O F7's are running Great! Big Smile Yea, I need 4 days off a week. Have what I need t fix the sound just not the time to do it. Sigh

Top of the evening from the rainy/stormy West Coast.

Had doggie people in for a couple of hours today just to see the pups. Wouldn't you know it the husband does "N sale" and "G scale" so we talked for quite a while about a lot of things railroady.

I have been chatting a lot with the kid in Ottawa today. He got a bunch of marks back that were excellent. Unfortunately tonight he was first on the scene of a student that I am guessing did not do as well and tried to commit suicide. The whole floor is shaken up over the ordeal, I don't think any of them will be going to bed early tonight.

Every week they spend a day at an Embassy. This week they spent a day at the U.S. Embassy. Without going into detail he said it was a different experience than any of the others. He is going to call to video chat and give me all the poop when he gets a chance. We have had great conversations for hours on end about international affairs since he was very young. I think the world will benefit from his choice of career. He is really learning a lot about putting things into perspective, even though I thought we already covered that a lot.Laugh

Tomorrow the trainroom awaits (I hope) Kept getting drafted for other duty today. Took the passports in for renewal. In and out in no time, a slick operation. The same at the motor vehicle branch for my Daughters learners license. I never understand the lineups you see on TV shows or movies, I have never experienced anything like that ever in my life. The same with voting, never waited a minute in my 60 years.

I think a glass of Cab Sav is in order while I unwind from another stressful day of retirement in front of the idiot box. Though with the wind we have right now the TV watching may be short lived.

All the best to all. Nighty night.

Almost 7 am and gearing up for a full day's winter hike. Slept well last night so I should be ok for 3 hours driving and 4 or 5 hours hiking. The temperature is perfect at -4C by noon and sunshine will allow me to take a few hundred great photos. The impressive tides of the Bay of Fundy are about to go out so I'll be able to hike on the ocean floor! Love Nova Scotia!

Howdy ...

Brent .... Sorry to hear about your "kid" having such an experience. You said there was an attempted suicide, and I hope that person can recover both physically and mentally.

People in this area are still in shock regarding the tragedy in a high school near here on Tuesday morning.

Ken .... Your work sounds like a soap opera.

Old School ... Enjoy the hike. Nova Scotia is beautiful.

NCE decoders ..... I just recieved 5 new NCE decoders from NCE using theor replavement program. You send them a defective decoder (any manufacturer) along with $10.00 and they send you a new decoder. I sent them 5 defective Digitrax decoders with $50.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. They sent me five NCE decoders.

I am continuing to work on my 1900 era scene. I have begun adding trees and other details.

Good afternoon diners.

Brunhilda - I will take a nice slice of cheesecake, with a glass of milk please. Thanks.

Brent - How is your boy doing after that? Could not have been easy to see... I know a few who have "succeeded", if you can call it that, and a few that are still here after attempting it.

Weather - The roller coaster of temps continues, as we will be up and down and then back up over the next week. Rain on Saturday will give way to snow on Sunday and Monday, only to be back near 50 next Thursday. It is currently 29F here now.

W*^k - Day off today, but I have heard that we had a nice fire today! Seems that a vacuum cleaner shorted out today, and lit itself on fire. I guess that is one way to avoid cleaning the carpets! Indifferent

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

Tough hike today at Cape Blomidon. The windchill was huge despite the sunshine. Very successful though. Here is a view of typical sandstone cliffs - I was standing on the ocean floor when I took this picture - the tide was way out.

Old School, I used to scuba dive and went to a quarry at an old shale mine.  You would love it.

My wife and I stayed in a motel in Staunton VA, pronounce Stan' ton and there was a big outcropping of shale across from our room.

Ever since I can remember, we passed a limestone quarry that you could just barely see from a highway.  I would be a spectacular model subject  Modeltrainstuff is probably visible from the drone.

 Afternoon Diners!

Flo, give the gang a Crown Royal with a Beer chaser and Steven and Rick a Root Beer Float. Yes, leave a stein outside for Ulrich.

Gary Yes work is like a Soap Opera thanks to Nancy. She loves drama and if there is none, she will make it! She's even aked me "Have you cheated on your wife?" Like I would tell her if I had! Confused

Train Front Decide to give a go with my BLI Monon Heavy Mike. This engine has sat on a bridge in RIP state for 3 years. Same problem the BLI Hudson has, no power pick up from the Engine. Well the ATF on the rails helped the Hudson so I gave her a spin. It was a no go, even with a B&O GP 7 as a helper. Sigh Tender is just to darn short when hitting a thrown turnout  Plus the tender was picking turnouts.

K-10 Model Trains Dropped by today and exchanged the car bridge for 2 more kits for Steven. All so picked up a new NMRA Gauge. See if I can clear a few engines from the RIP Track.

Hum, Steven seems I need a bigger box? WhistlingSmile, Wink & Grin

The third mineral/rock I was after was magnetite like this one. This piece has magnetite on both sides of the brown stone - some of these exhibit electrical capacitance.
